→ The 2014/15 season was Sergio Aguero's best ever for Fantasy returns. Seven of his goals/assists and 36 of his FPL points came in two meetings with which club that year? Scout Betting

A good haul of Fantasy points might put a smile on your face but doesn’t always put pounds in your pocket. That certainly rang true last weekend when it came to the “Flutter”. Bossing the left-flanks, both Leighton Baines and Garath Bale were Scout Picks that paid dividends for Fantasy managers, but failed to deliver on our chosen Flutter markets.

A brand new set of fixtures will hopefully spark a return to betting form. Spicing up the wagers this week are spot-kick specialist Yakubu, in-form poacher Emmanual Adebayor, free-kick aficionado Ryan Taylor and human battering ram Micah Richards. Read on to find out how we spend our £10 stake in this week’s Fantasy Flutter.

Tottenham are swaggering right now, there’s even a whisper of ‘title contenders’ in the air. And why not? Loanee Emmanual Adebayor has taken over the goalscoring baton while Rafael Van der Vaart nursed his hamstring, netting 4 goals in two games, leaving Spurs just a couple of neat and tidy performances away from challenging the topspot. Although Bolton will try their best to repel the vibrant Spurs attack, Adebayor to score 2 or more goals at 13/5, looks good for the first £2.50 of our money.

Last week’s flutter selection neglected the prospect of defensive returns, so this time around a clean sheet market is tempting us. Roberto Mancini will be looking to come away from the Norwich clash with a shutout, and if Micah Richards and co can keep out the likes of Anthony Pilkington and Steve Morison out, and steer clear of the ref’s notebook, Paddy will pay out at 11/10. This might seem a touch too short for some, but a £5 stake shows confidence City this weekend.

Newcastle’s Ryan Taylor has netted a couple of long-range efforts this season, and will be looking to lend his right-foot to the Magpies attack when Chelsea pay a visit. Taylor to score outside of the box has been priced at 8/1 by Paddy, and is a risk worth taking for a £1 of our money.

Blackburn haven’t featured much in the Flutter, as their worst start to a Premier League season plods on. While picking up points has been a problem, goals haven’t been proving too much of an issue of late, however, and Yakubu looks a potential bargain over a forthcoming run of favourable fixtures. Netting twice against Wigan, he is fancied to make a mark against Swansea at Ewood this weekend, with Paddy posting 5/2 for him to score and Blackburn to go on to win. We’ll take them up on that for another quid.

Our final wager is a cheeky 50 pence on a long-shot anytime double. Watchlist Wanderer Jamie O’Hara and Blackburn’s Morten Gamst Pederson were both in our thinking when it came to the Scout Picks this weekend; Paddy are offering both to net at 18/1. That may be too far fetched for most to open their wallets for, but we’re going to back our hunch with the last of our stake money.

Curse of the Old Boy!

Paddy’s money back special this weekend takes us to Villa Park and surrounds the fortunes of former home favourite, Ashley Young. If the United man comes back to haunt his former club by scoring a goal at anytime, Paddy will refund all losing first/last goalscorer, correct score and scorecast singles on the match.

To elucidate; I'm not lying, an idiot or joking. I actually am and it's all over a girl.

As Einstein once remarked: 'Only a life lived for others is a life worthwhile.'

She's the only girl in the entire world I want to be with, and I'm afraid it is not the same for her, and not only that, but it's all my fault.

Fair enough it feels bad now, but if she's the only girl in the world you want to be with, why not meet some more? It could be she's the only one out of 7 billion. Or - it could be she's the only one you've met so far.

Look at what Speed's family went through. You know it's not worth it, and if you want to live your life for others you can start by not ending it.

Talking about it to people is not easy; it's as if I do it to occupy my mind but at the same time knowing, when I stop, nothing has changed.

And quite aside from the fact this is the last place I should be discussing it, I know forgetting about her, or this, is going to be the biggest challenge I've faced in my entire life.

Suicide cannot be a foremost option as long as I know I can do that, no matter how hard I know it might have to be. Thus your points are all valid. But how I feel right now... the thought of never being with her or never seeing her again... that's not what I want to think about.

            Thanks.

That's fine, it's hard for anyone else to fully comprehend what's going through someone's mind in a personal situation.

All I can say is fast forward 20 years, and there'll be so many people who will be thankful you didn't give in. A partner, kids maybe, family, friends, coworkers and acquaintances.

              Wishing you the best.

Newcastle have kept 2 CS's at home so far, and Chelsea have failed to score once, when they had 2 men sent off against QPR and Dyer has had 7 shots, 6 on target in the last 5 games, and is versing the one of, if not the, worst defences in the league..

Several games of NUFC and Swansea, I watched.. Raylor had many chances for free-kick, crosses, and also put himself into good attacking spot. As Chelsea is not good in DF as before, he could get any assist or 6-point goal.

Dyer has good start for recent games. But Swansea still a team who failed to score 7 games with 3/6 on the road. You could be right that he may score against BLA but I just want to back a player from better team and play at home.

These would be for next week, so not overly concerned about Rooney not starting this w/e. Do you think Chico will be a rotation threat when Welbeck is back (pretty soon I think)...

Sup late nighters? How are the best people on this site doing?

anyone panicking? I know I am! Here's why:

    Vorm (Kenny)

Yes, Kenny. I don't really want to get rid, considering I only think I'll play him once between now and when I WC.

    ShawX Enrique simpson (Naylor, Brown)

Yeah, I think playing Simpson is a little nuts, bet he's at home, and I don't think anyone would be too surprised if Chelsea failed to score altogether. Overall, defenses suck this week. Besides City and maybe United, there isnt a clear clean sheet in sight, to me.

    Bale, VDV, Silva, Walters (Dyer)

Problem is, Dyer could very well get something. I like my midfeild in all honesty. We're about to find out how fixture proof Walters truly is.

    Rooney, RVP(c), Ba

Had been meaning to get Ba for a while, and used this week to get rid of Studge for him. Should have got rid of Rooney, right?

That's my major problem: Rooney. I just don't know with Shrek. I want United coverage, so I don't want to get rid unless its for Hernandez (and I'd rather for Ade) or get Nani in the same week.

So my temptations tonight are both 8 point hits:

    Rooney>Ade
    ShawX> Baines

Which goes against EVERY belief I have against Baines.....except he looks so awesome!

    or

    Rooney>Ade
    Walters/VDV>Nani

Surely even crazier, right? I mean, I just got Walters in! Both ideas are truly nuts, right? People on this board talk like the first one is surely worth the hit, as Ade and Baines are hot commodities.

so, o wise dwellers of the night, tell me if any of this is a good idea.

O and Billy Ketsu............youre going down this weekend!

Then you could leave Rooney for WOL and not have to play Baines at Arsenal/Adebayor at Stoke. GW 16 looks good timing for both if you can wait that long, plus would be for free.

Morning Newman! You've not been around for a while.

Both of us have similar teams without your transfers. I have Studge & Sinclair instead of Ba & Walters. I've been contemplating Studge > Ade & ShawX > Baines for an 8-pt hit & I won't be doing it, although still considering the latter, since I have 5mil in the bank.

For you, methinks its easier. No hits. Keep the pig. I'm playing Brown over Simpson, along with ShawX & JE. But it's upto you..I can see Chelsea doing some damage this GW, esp Mata vs Simpson

Sorry I've been so busy! Just moved to a new city.

I didn't even notice how similar our teams are! Does that mean you bought the pig with your money? Can't be so, or you wouldnt have 5 million! I hate the idea of ever owning Baines (I never had him even last year) but he looks too good!

Brown over Simpson eh? I guess I don't think Simpson is all that poor of a defender, and I think Chelsea are pretty bad in general. I may play Brown because he is better for bonus, though. close one, there. Clean sheet s are gonna be rough this week.

Awesome. Which city? Hope you've settled in. Shifting is such a pain, I can understand.

Oops, yup I don't have the pig. I have QPR's RVP, instead 😛

Btw Baines is not convincing me enough.

Check these stats out (courtesy: applebonkers)

          last 5 gameweeks shots:
baines 4, 1 on target, once off the woodwork (which was the pen)
          vidic 4, 2 on target
          jagielka 4, 2 on target
          vermalen 3, 2 on target

defensive stats(e.g tackles, clearances, blocks etc) jagielka is the best overall

So by the looks of it, Jagielka & Baines might get the same number of goals, come season-end. Is that extra 2.4mil worth the power of assists from Baines? Plus Jags might get some boners for his defensive stats.

Also, Vidic looks a great option too (constant CS, goal threat on set pieces, attracts bonuses). Hmm.

What's with the Baines love then?

Columbus, Ohio, near where I grew up. I hate moving, but its for a good job, so that's the point, I suppose.

QPRsRVP............awesome. He does look a great option, he does.

It's set pieces, penos, and last year that put Baines above the other two. Last year's stats tell us that Jags will NOT keep up the production, and that this year has been a bit of an abnormality. With Vidic, I think he actually is close to as good, but I don't even like United's defense enough to pay for him.

Honestly.............do you really expect Jags and Vidic to score more goals than Baines? What about Assists? And don't forget about bonus, where Baines is more likely to benefit, since Everton can't keep cleanies, and therefore Jags is unlikely to get bonus for defense.

I do understand the Baines love. I'm just not sold on the price. Although the attempts stat is a bet telling. Maybe Jags is better? Sounds crazy, though.

Precisely. Only if EVE a tad more CS potential, I'd be sold on Baines/Jags. I guess everyone would haha.

What do you reckon I should do with the extra 5mil? No FTs though.

I love your team for this week. If it were me, I would want United coverage, no matter how brutal. That means I would go Sinclair(or Moses?) > Nani with that team even if it seems nuts. I have this theory that United will always go however Nani goes. So form won't improve until he starts providing more.

that said, I love Adebayor right now, and I might even get him in for Helguson, as awesome as he has been, as well.

I will say the time has passed for Moses. get rid.

Thanks Newman, always kind & reassuring.

I'm mostly getting Ade/Ba for Helguson next GW.

The problem with getting Moses out is I don't know who to rest. I'll stick for now since I don't have a FT.

I agree with you. Nani and even Young are crucial to United's goalscoring form. But I can't see them going berserk just yet.

How about the assuring United defence? Worth doing a ShawX > Jones/Vidic?

It probably is. I feel committed to my cheap defense, unless I spring for Baines, and even then only with the "hes actually a midfielder' mentality. I like Jones and Vidic, but I like a cheap defense with lots of heavy hitters even more. I honestly do not think Jones and Vidic they will supply for their price. Vidic is solid, but I think thatm uch is better spent up front ,and I honestly don't like what a rotation risk Jones is (more than most here believe, imo) I would much rather use the money to spring for another big hitting midefeilders. Even if you went Helguson>Ade, maybe Sinclair>bale, or mata?

Ade doesn't appeal too much to me now due to the return of VDV & not on penos. Also, fancy the Helgicopter to get a goal or two against WBA at home with Barton back.

Fair enough. Looks like I'm going to either Baines it to stick it out.

                    So set on your team?

I pondered taking a hit myself to bring in Baines or Vermaelen but am going with Shawcross over Simpson simply because I have Sturridge upfront. Everton could well pull a dud. Would hold off on taking those hits unless you really think Ade is the player you want. I am looking at putting Aguero out to pasture next and am taking a serious look at Rooney. He's built for the grind of Dec/Jan and Man U's fixtures are very favourable.

To be honest, I don't know if this is the week to try and make up massive amounts of ground, not with the matchup RVP has this week.

Captaining Roondog next week, and VDV the week after, would probably be better bets if your opponents stick with RVP.

Play the player who you think will get you the most points. It is too early in the year to think about what other players are doing. Concentrate on your own team and you will get the points. Focus on other teams and you will find yourself reacting to what others are doing and you lose your own team.

I'm looking at bringing him in for Hernandez (maybe) over the Christmas period as I am looking to fill my team with as many 100% nailed on starters for those games...but I need to see more than just shots off target for me to do so.

There comes a time when you have to close the door on promise and take a look at what a player is really giving you. Liverpool have had very good fixtures before and Suarez has not been able to put the ball in the net. As a striker that's his job.

This just makes me laugh. Who cares if he dribbles and passes well when he just bottles it in the end. he shouldn't be hard to get rid of, he should be easy to get rid of: look how much he misses the target.

A striker who does everything but score. lolz.

Get rid immediately. There are too many better striking options. Like, 10 that are better.

I'd probably wait until after the City game to bring in Studge.

Have had Sturridge for a while myself and certainly think he is giving me good value.

Adebayor is not a "must" considering you have Bale and van der Vaart. However, I believe Adebayor is the better option of the three. (I sold van der Vaart two weeks ago.)

A little of a premature thought here.

    Rooney + HBA
    (or)
    Ba + Nani/Young from GW15 onwards.
