The clamour for Zlatan Ibrahimovic has gathered pace.

Manchester United’s summer signing has risen to second spot in our Watchlist forward rankings off the back of his 13-point return in last night’s 2-0 win over Southampton.

Having doubted Ibrahimovic’s early promise, there have been two notable changes to swing our opinion.

The Swede is now confirmed as United’s spot-kick taker having planted the ball past Fraser Forster for the second goal.

More importantly, Paul Pogba’s impact on United was almost immediate and seemed to transform the whole dynamic of the team.

Ibrahimovic was no longer dropping deep to lend his presence to midfield areas and enjoyed more time in and around the penalty area to feed off a supply from out wide.

The reconnaissance mission on Jose Mourinho’s side is over now that Pogba is in the machine – we’ve seen enough to decide that Ibrahimovic will see plenty of the ball in the right areas, picking up the goals and assists to warrant his price tag.

Indeed, his price is now driving the recruitment drive.

Ibrahimovic has already seen a hike overnight – a further increase prior to Gameweek 3 or soon after would seem likely if both Jamie Vardy and Harry Kane fail to produce today.

More significantly, the Swede will face Hull City away next weekend – if he delivers points again in that encounter his stock will be sky high heading into the international break.

We’ve seen in previous seasons how a strong bandwagon can accelerate during this window of 13 days without a deadline to stall price changes.

Conversely, both Vardy and Kane will likely suffer further drops in this period, unless they can stem the tide with points, either today or in their Gameweek 3 encounters.

Kane, in particular, will endure a significant decline in stock should he blank against Palace and show evidence that he’s dropping back into midfield areas.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Couldnt ignore Zlatan any more, even though i didn't really want him (yet). Ditched Vardy for him last night. Can't afford to be in a position having to rip team up in a few weeks time and trade players down when i had the money for him now.

Fantasy Football Scout daily hot topic

Is this season already shaping up to being the Aguero and Ibrahimovic show, with both in most teams?

If so how do we manage that? Select captaincy between the two by a home and away or ease of fixture basis? What to do in the Manchester Derby in that case?

Could this pair's dominance give more experienced managers the edge, as their savvy selection of key differentials elsewhere in the team becomes even more crucial to success?

I reckon there might be a time when we remove one of them. Kane when he hits form will be necessary. Unless Janssen starts regularly. I have really high hopes from Janssen.

Don't think you could be more wrong to be honest. So many options for the big 6 and Leicester that it'll be really hard to have attackers that are clearly the best options.

Rumours were that Klopp wanted to have Sturridge as the focal point of his attack. If that happens, I'd have

      Ibra - Aguero - Sturridge

Kubra-a necessity? At present, it appears to be the case.

Captaincy? They both score well so there won't be as much impact here as some might think.

The cool kids have certainly had a good start and it's hard to see the casuals getting much of a look in this year.

At present, Ibra and Aguero appear to be a necessity until other options emerge to other an alternative.

In terms of captaincy I agree the impact may not be that large.

Many casuals started with Aguero, Zlatan and Shaw, so they're doing all right so far.

That, and the fact that quite a few of them (especially the United supporters) captained Zlatan meant that my overall rank dropped yesterday despite a very respectable score of 19, although I got green arrows in all but one of my mini-leagues (the exception being Beat the Veterans, probably because of a large number of new teams joining it).

Bit early to say these two will be the dominant ones. There are many good strikers who can keep pace, Sturridge, Kane and Vardy to name a few.

Origi offers a better alternative than Sturridge in terms of goals per price imo

Unlikely to see Sturridge lasting long as a fantasy asset this season given his fitness

We need a genuine cheap option to emerge to augment them. Three big ones up top is too much, especially when we really have to fit hazard in.

We'll know more by end of game week three. Also, let's all calm down a little bit until others have played.

I don't think it will be the Aguero and Ibrahimovic show. The amount of money pouring into the league will mean it will be an unpredictable season with coupon-busting upsets on a regular basis.

Since this got hulked, a key quote from Jose post the Community shield

      ON SCORERS LINGARD AND IBRAHIMOVIC
“Zlatan will be more dangerous when we are more dominant and play closest to the box. Zlatan is not a very fast player to play 50 metres away from the box like where Vardy can be dangerous. Zlatan needs the team to play, he needs the team to produce and he needs the team to be arriving in the final third. It's something that we also have to change because the profile of this team was more about possession of the ball. Even arriving in crossing positions, the team normally plays back again and tries to change to the other side. We are trying to change. The reality is the second goal is a great example of that.”

This. It was the perfect move. Vardy won't become a player with more potential that Ibra overnight, we grabbed a 0.1m price rise and because Ibra is the second most expensive striker, we have the flexibility to downgrade to anyone if he doesn't perform. Win-win-win!

Was Ibra's brace yesterday a good or bad thing for owners who didn't captain him? I guess it's all theoretical at this point until there are more points on the board from today's matches.

Good considering the mad scramble for him amongst rivals while we can plot other moves..

If Aguero does ok then that's a bonus!

Aguero owners: the beginning of the last season was a pretty frustrating time to own Aguero and I kept him for too long. How many blanks do you give him before selling?

Actually disagree - sentiment changes very quickly, especially if you couple a run of Aguero blanks with another mid/premium striker exploding with points. Sometimes it's sensible to get rid. The points you can gain in not owning him may be more than the points lost when he finally explodes back into form

But the thing with Aguero is that he plays for a very attacking side and is on pens, could have an awful game and still score 2.

Of course, right now he is crucial to own. The above is purely theoretical

Haha, Aguero Ibra seems the way to go then. Was all set on Vardy to Lukaku with those fixtures but was forced to bring Ibra in last night, missed out on that brace with all my ML rivals having him as a C....

        Well he didn't blank GW1.

He scored a hattrick on Tuesday and could (should) have had two more.

I would say he's in excellent form, and nowhere near blanking.

Who to get in first, Benteke or Ibra? Or should I get in both for a -4 hit? I have 2 FT & 1m ITB, and would go Vardy, Gray and Alli (unless plays well today) to Ibra, Benteke and 7m mid (currently have Redmond).

What would be great is if Origi or Jannsen gives us an option. Either of them nailed would make this game beautiful. Lukaku and Benteke other options.

          Drop Townsend
          Drop Redmond
          Drop Morgan

Same. More salt in the wounds when I tried to trade Ibra in before his price rise but failed, missed out by seconds.

I captained him and have 34 points which only gets a current GW rank of 430,000 so there were literally tens of thousands who made the correct decision yesterday. Hopefully you at least have him in your team so you get 13 points from his haul. If not you'll really need Aguero to deliver

Anyone else feel that this will be the most difficult season ever in terms of FPL competition? The widened exposure is certainly causing us to have to raise our game!

Agreed. FPL teams will be divided between the Aguero/Ibra combo or Hazard/Sanchez in the first place. Then there are loads of mid and budget priced midfielders and strikers to choose from.

I don't think there should be any rush to get in Benteke - people certainly shouldn't be taking hits to do it. There are plenty of reliable 6.5 options available at the moment.

If ever there is a player (and a team, for that matter) who needs to prove that they can still perform at this level it's Benteke (and Palace).

Who is on your watchlist for the near future? Considering the fixtures, i'm eyeing:

      Lukaku; Bolasie
      Hammers
      Rondon;Phillips
      Adnan
      Palace
