Philippe Coutinho is a doubt for Liverpool’s clash with Spurs. Sunderland stopper Vito Mannone has been ruled out for at least three months, Ryan Bertrand faces a late assessment after returning to training, whilst Arsene Wenger has still to decide whether he will start Mesut Ozil at Watford.

Philippe Coutinho is rated a doubt for Liverpool’s trip to Spurs. The midfielder has picked up a hamstring problem and was only able to take part in light training yesterday. Emre Can (ankle) and Divock Origi (cramp) are also both uncertain to feature. The pair picked up problems during the midweek cup win over Burton Albion and will be assessed, Jurgen Klopp has confirmed.

Vito Mannone has been ruled out for “a minimum of three months” with elbow ligament damage, David Moyes confirmed earlier today. John O’Shea remains out with a hip problem, though the Black Cats are hopeful that Fabio Borini will recover from a toe injury in time. Lamine Kone will be assessed later today.

Arsene Wenger will make a late decision on whether to start Mesut Ozil in Arsenal’s clash with Watford. The Gunners boss also admitted that Olivier Giroud is “a fraction behind physically”.

Joe Ledley and Wayne Hennessey are “struggling” to be passed fit for Palace’s clash with Bournemouth. Alan Pardew has also conceded that Christian Benteke is likely to start on the bench due to a lack of match fitness, with Connor Wickham leading the line.

Watford boss Walter Mazzarri has conceded “it’s nearly impossible” that he will field all three new signings, Daryl Janmaat, Younes Kaboul and Roberto Pereyra from the start against Arsenal. Isaac Success is available for selection after overcoming a hamstring complaint.

Mark Noble is expected to recover from a knock in time for West Ham’s trip to Man City. Slaven Bilic says “maybe one” of Dimitri Payet or Manuel Lanzini will be ready for the Etihad. Havard Nordtveit is almost certain to miss out with a foot problem.

Nampalys Mendy (ankle) and Jeffrey Schlupp (muscle) are both unavailable for the visit of Swansea. Claudio Ranieri remains optimistic that both could return immediately after the international break.

James McCarthy, Darron Gibson and Tom Cleverley are all expected to recover from minor knocks in time for Everton’s home clash with Stoke. Seamus Coleman has stepped up his recovery from an ankle issue but remains on the sidelines.

Swansea’s club-record Borja Baston remains unavailable for the weekend trip to Leicester due to a thigh problem. Neil Taylor will feature for the Under 23s this evening and will also miss out against the Foxes as he builds up his match fitness.

Ryan Bertrand is back in full training and will be assessed ahead of Southampton’s clash with Sunderland. Jeremy Pied (knee) is ruled out, though Oriol Romeu has recovered from the knock that forced him off against Man United on Friday night.

Hugo Lloris is still sidelined with a hamstring injury for Spurs’ clash with Liverpool, though Kevin Wimmer has recovered from a similar complaint. Mousa Dembele serves the fifth of a sixth-match suspension.

Jack Butland and Glen Johnson remain sidelined for Stoke’s trip to Everton, though Mark Hughes refuses to rule out Xherdan Shaqiri, who has yet to train this week due to a calf complaint.

All this and more has now been updated in the Team News section ahead of tomorrow’s deadline. Keep an eye on our official Twitter Stream for breaking news – as the day unfolds, we will issue updates from Friday’s press conferences and refresh our Team News tab accordingly to keep you informed.

You decide for 4 big hitters but decide against Aguero? Thats weird, and leaves your team quite weak with Holding, Amat, Januzaj, Capoo and Jakupoovic. If you have decided on going Agueroless, which is a mistake, at least go without KdB aswell and spend the money more evenly on your squad.

Aargh, don't want to waste a transfer on Mannone, but suspect there's always going to be a more pressing transfer with Foster my other keeper so Mannone will just sit there losing value and annoying me.

Might be worth a hit just to get in a 4.0m GK that's rising and at least gain some value over the next few months. Then come WC time I'll have maybe an extra 0.4 itb which is worth 4pts.

GK rotation is also anoying, so atleast be happy that you wont play the wrong keeper in the coming weeks. Pray to the seven that Foster stay fit and welcome Mannone back around Christmas. Its fine

Yea wait until WC for keepers. I have Jakupovic and Forster, and will probably play Foster every week anyway. Will only lose 0.2 max on Mannone

That right? I have £2.5m in the bank... I might look at upgrading him then, and simply benching Coutinho for the week (already have his £0.2m rise so wouldn't mind keeping him). Cheers, I'll definitely look into that.

        1. LT10
          • 14 Years

Fer started the first game of the season because Siggy wasn't match fit.

Last week, Leon wasn't fit, so Fer dropped back to a more defensive role with Siggy coming in to play behind Llorente.

Fer definitely isn't a nailed on starter when everyone is fit (and Swansea's fixtures are terrible anyway), so I think you'll need to get rid sooner rather than later.

i dont understand why people are WCing so early... they do realize that the next time they can WC is prior to GW 20... and they'd want that second WC to be played on GW 34 for the double gameweek... 34-2 = 32 gameweeeks without a WC

    1. ᶠᶦˡᵗʰʸLucre $$$
      • 11 Years
      9 years, 4 months ago

I agree - always seemed like a bizarre strategy to plan specifically for the early WC, though sometimes early WCs are unavoidable. Plans need to be flexible.

        • 15 Years
        9 years, 4 months ago

I've personally always gone with an early wildcard and done well. After a few weeks it is very apparent who are going to be the successes of the season and an early wildcard played well builds team value. There seems to be a snobbery on here about keeping the wildcard almost looking down on those that use it early. It's bizarre.

Wild carding now means you are only without a WC for 17 weeks. It expires end of the year. Next years WC is a separate matter in my opinion.

    3. Bird Raymond
      • 14 Years
      9 years, 4 months ago

Ideal time to wildcard, so much more information to go on than in pre-season.
I think the gw34 wildcard is overplayed too. I wildcarded in January, got a huge boost over the following weeks as a result. A bit of planning and a 16 point hit saw me through gw34, plus I avoided the issues that gw33 wildcarders experienced.

    Wildcarding this week.

Brought in Shaw before his price rise, but rate Valencia higher. Shouldn't be too much difference between the two though. Who should i go with?

Also brought in Coutinho for his price rise. He's gone up 0.1 since I got him, but is now a doubt. Get Tadic or Sterling instead (have redmond)?

Any thoughts on this? Got 2 FT with 0 ITB. Should I use a FT or let it burn?

    Foster (Jaku)

    Shaw Stones Friend (Amat Kone)

    Haz Lamela Andros Gaston (Leko)

    Kun Ibra Vardy

Paredes due a price drop soon and I really don't want to lose value on a £4.0 defender with nothing in the bank so it looks like I'm using a FT for the second week on replacing bench fodder (which really frustrates me)

Jordi Amat or Marc Wilson? I know Amat is starting currently, but that's only out of bare necessity for Swansea. Wilson could see some game time for Bournemouth.

    Any other viable options?

Wilson may be back-up, but for 4.0 you can't expect much

I know. Just trying to avoid a price drop at this stage. Won't matter so much in a few weeks, but it's key at present.
Amat it is for the short term then.
