And so the power shifts once again.

I can barely remember witnessing such upheaval: where we’ve had to re-consider where our big-money is spent and switch our sights, not only due to form, but simply availability.

We started the season coveting Zlatan Ibrahimovic. Then Diego Costa emerged, followed swiftly by Eden Hazard as Chelsea blossomed. Now Harry Kane, with seven goals in five, becomes a priority.

While these players battle for recognition in our squads, Sergio Aguero was considered by most as a mainstay: a factor that required little consideration.

That theory wavered back in Gameweek 3 but today’s events may have changed it for good.

Aguero had not served a suspension until this season. Now he is set to miss at least seven weeks of this campaign before the turn of the year. Few, if any, could have anticipated that.

Hours after the bombshell at the Etihad, Alexis Sanchez then provided his own explosion.

We always knew the dangers: deployed up front by Arsene Wenger, he has always been part of the heavy-hitter debate.

But, with heads turned by Chelsea’s faultless form and the promise from Eden Hazard, some, including this Fantasy manager, chose to lose Sanchez’ special talent, keeping Aguero locked into our attacks.

Now, with the City striker being ejected from squads throughout the land, the sacrifices required to gain the likes of Hazard, Costa and Marcos Alonso – all so alluring with Chelsea’s form and fixtures – no longer apply.

When I showed Sanchez the exit ahead of Gameweek 12, opting to sell Aguero was something I pondered, but quickly dismissed.

Today’s events punished that particular decision. They also force us re-examine the established thinking.

We are so set on Aguero. His place is so cemented in Fantasy Football folkore, the prospect of progressing through a season, or even a period of Gameweeks without him almost seems unthinkable.

But while a saintly Costa is scoring goals and avoiding the booking that will see him serve a one-match ban, we’ve seen Aguero inexplicably become an unreliable hothead.

We can’t begin to fathom how those roles have been reversed. We can only react to what we’ve now been dealt.

While those without Sanchez are denied the convenience of carrying out a like-for-like swap for Aguero, even with the cost of an additional transfer, it will likely prove a popular route.

Acquiring Sanchez no longer comes packaged with such sacrifice now that Aguero is out of the equation, his millions available to us.

In Gameweek 4 we formed plans to sell a suspended Aguero and bring him back two weeks later. This time around the landscape may have changed.

As of today, it seems likely that few will be forgoing Sanchez for Aguero should that decision ever arise again.

Although it’s almost folly to make such predictions in a season that refuses to allow us to settle in our thinking.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Is Sanchez worth dismantling your squad for with hits now?

Or can we wait till GW18 when their fixtures start looking really good again?

I think if you dropping aguero, its a good way to spread the funds. Crazy that 1 can potentially get costa and sanchez for aguero

I was investigating same. I'd need to take a -12 and have Amat & a 4.4 in defence instead of Coleman & a 4.9.... Plus would have to swap out Delle Alli who has another 2 great fixs in next 3. Going to hold off, clench my butt cheeks & hopefully come out the other side in 3 GWs not much more than a few points worse off.

I'm definitely waiting. I have Wally for cover for now which is obviously not ideal but will have to do. And I have KdB for city cover so will probably work towards getting him out for Sanchez eventually.

    My current team is:

    Sanchez/ De Bruyne / Walcott / Allen / Gundogan
    Aguero / Kane / Gray

    Which one should I do?

    A) Walcott + Aguero > Hazard + Costa
    B) Allen + Aguero > Hazard + Iheanacho

Conflicted now.. Is it worth taking a hit to swap Mane for Costa?

Have Sanchez, Hazard, Firmino, Walcott, Kane and Austin so can't really think of anyone else to sell. Mane also has pretty good form and fixtures (home to West Ham next week for one) but Costa looks essential?

Want to make a decision before Costa price rise tonight.

But Costa with that run of fixtures is just so tempting.

The hit and Costa's 4 yelllows are drawbacks. On the other hand Costa will probably rise .3 this week.

        1. The Tinkerman
          • 10 Years

He also has a mystery injury, which he felt was bad enough to sub himself off in a key game.

If it were for free i'd maybe do it, but not for a hit. Mane still has plenty to offer and good fixtures too.

What's the general consensus regarding Costa's knock? Likely to be over it by next Sunday? Most obvious Kun replacement and don't wanna lost 0.2 by not making the switch tonight.

Nobody knows, he asked to be subbed off in a key game though. Rumour is a back injury, but I don't see how anyone can know when he hasn't been assessed yet.

Yeah, I need to do it tonight for the cash. No idea what to do about it, still... He has had a few flags recently from memory, midweek injuries, only to be fine for the games after. But if he has been playing through a muscle injury he could easily be rested. I doubt he would ask to be subbed off if he didn't need to be...

They don't have great alternatives in terms of out and out strikers. Could maybe play Pedro as a false 9 but I also think he'll be ok for the WBA game. If he is you don't wanna be without him.

I don't have Kane either, so have to choose between them. The injury and 4 yellows is making Costa a very hard sell, when I have no Spurs attack, but already have Haz and Alonso.

If I didn't have Kane it would be a no brainer for the above reasons and also decent fixtures coming up, apart from maybe the next one - United away.

Trouble is there are no obvious Kun replacements apart from Costa and Kane. Austin is my third striker and S'oton are probably the other team with good fixtures coming up. Shame Liverpool have no reliable forwards.

    Foster (Pickford)
    Walker Smith Amat (Fuchs Pieters)
    Alexis Firmino Siggy Snodgrass Capoue
    Costa Kane (Bony)

As you can see the bench is currently useless and I'd have to play Amat and Capoue.

    B. Fuchs to Alonso

10 points off top 10k with Karius, Lovren, Firmino, Lukaku to go.

I'm half confident. Cheers for the info.

Just did Aguero > Kane for free. Now I'm left wondering if it's worth dismantling to get Sanchez in, as I don't really want to drop Firmino or Hazard. Kinda wanted to get Alonso in for Williams this week too.

    Pickford Marshall
    Vertonghen Williams Holebas Evans Amat
    Hazard Firmino Sigurdsson Son Fletcher
    Costa Kane Austin

You don't have a west to Sanchez that's worth it imo. You have Haz, Kane & Costa so you're probably going to have to go without Sanchez until one of those needs to be moved

I'm not even sure I'd change TOO much with one to be honest. Aside from Sanchez I'm quite happy with my team

I can get him in for minimal hits, it's the texam value that's the problem

For me the problem is: I want Costa for the next few, and I fear that Sanchez will be the top scorer over the season, the player you really need to have, but I don't want to swap any of my expensive midfielders for him now. The problem is that he may escape from me because of the price rises if I wait the few weeks.

How would you fund bringing Alonso in here? 0.7m in bank

    Heaton, Robinson
    Morgan, Holebas, Evans, Kone, Amat
Sanchez, Hazard, Firmino, Eriksen, De Roon
    Costa, Kane, Austin

    He definitely isn't injured lol

the one thing i will say about Alexis v Theo is its a victory for eyes over stats, anyone using the numbers to make a case for Walcott would be slapped in the face by anyone watching Arsenal over the last few games, Sanchez is a machine.

He hardly makes my tables. Sanchez has been amongst the top few.

The only question between them really has been: is Sanchez worth that much more?

Theo is now 36 points behind him. 36! I think Theo will close that gap over the next few weeks though, as he's not that much worse than Sanchez... I think he'll get to within 20 points of Sanchez by christmas, which would more than justify his price tag.
