And so the power shifts once again.

I can barely remember witnessing such upheaval: where we’ve had to re-consider where our big-money is spent and switch our sights, not only due to form, but simply availability.

We started the season coveting Zlatan Ibrahimovic. Then Diego Costa emerged, followed swiftly by Eden Hazard as Chelsea blossomed. Now Harry Kane, with seven goals in five, becomes a priority.

While these players battle for recognition in our squads, Sergio Aguero was considered by most as a mainstay: a factor that required little consideration.

That theory wavered back in Gameweek 3 but today’s events may have changed it for good.

Aguero had not served a suspension until this season. Now he is set to miss at least seven weeks of this campaign before the turn of the year. Few, if any, could have anticipated that.

Hours after the bombshell at the Etihad, Alexis Sanchez then provided his own explosion.

We always knew the dangers: deployed up front by Arsene Wenger, he has always been part of the heavy-hitter debate.

But, with heads turned by Chelsea’s faultless form and the promise from Eden Hazard, some, including this Fantasy manager, chose to lose Sanchez’ special talent, keeping Aguero locked into our attacks.

Now, with the City striker being ejected from squads throughout the land, the sacrifices required to gain the likes of Hazard, Costa and Marcos Alonso – all so alluring with Chelsea’s form and fixtures – no longer apply.

When I showed Sanchez the exit ahead of Gameweek 12, opting to sell Aguero was something I pondered, but quickly dismissed.

Today’s events punished that particular decision. They also force us re-examine the established thinking.

We are so set on Aguero. His place is so cemented in Fantasy Football folkore, the prospect of progressing through a season, or even a period of Gameweeks without him almost seems unthinkable.

But while a saintly Costa is scoring goals and avoiding the booking that will see him serve a one-match ban, we’ve seen Aguero inexplicably become an unreliable hothead.

We can’t begin to fathom how those roles have been reversed. We can only react to what we’ve now been dealt.

While those without Sanchez are denied the convenience of carrying out a like-for-like swap for Aguero, even with the cost of an additional transfer, it will likely prove a popular route.

Acquiring Sanchez no longer comes packaged with such sacrifice now that Aguero is out of the equation, his millions available to us.

In Gameweek 4 we formed plans to sell a suspended Aguero and bring him back two weeks later. This time around the landscape may have changed.

As of today, it seems likely that few will be forgoing Sanchez for Aguero should that decision ever arise again.

Although it’s almost folly to make such predictions in a season that refuses to allow us to settle in our thinking.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

    Saving FT this Gw
    Heaton
    Alonso, Koscienly, Holebas
    Sanchez, Firmino, Siggy, Hazard
    Kane, Defoe, Austin
    Subs: Pickford, Walker, Amat, Cook
Looks good for Gw 15. Thoughts

    Kun - Kane
    Wally - Sanchez
To fund the Sanchez transfer, I need to do one of these:
    A. Walker - Cedric
    B. Wilson - Anichebe
    For a -8
    Thoughts?

As a Hazard non-owner, this Sanchez explosion was strangely a wake-up call for me that if I don't get Hazard soon, he is going to explode the same way with those delicious fixtures.

2 gameweeks ago, we've seen a mass transfers out with Sanchez. 2 games, 2 good form, everyone thinks he's back. Everyone should hope he doesn't go blank the next 5 weeks.

Sanchez is inconsistent. His streaks usually don't last long. He's known for his explosive returns though. Lots of players score 2-3 games in a row. If he does keep this up in next 2 GWs I'll admit he has taken himself to the whole new level in FPL.

Saw lots of sales due to potential injury after the international break, re-emergence of Hazard as a heavyhitter in midfield and those rumours about Wenger giving him a mini-winter break.

No reason to think he can't continue this form though. I'm happy to bite the bullet and bring him back in. Decent fixtures, and he's adapted well to the role up top.

Well, yes, because he should have known that Heaton was a risk. Otherwise it was a reasonable week to play it.

9 points is maybe 6-9 less than you'd want but the main thing is to get it out of the way so it doesn't screw you up come DGW time.

2 transfers already made, I feel so much better without aguero it's untrue...

    Heaton
    Alonso Mustafi Holebas
    Sanchez Firmino Hazard Siggy
    Costa Austin Anichebe

    Pickford Fletcher Kingsley Kelly

Bench is filth, but I have 5m in bank to do Austin to Kane or Fletcher to Eriksen after the United match

    good to go?

Ha ha, I don't think I will actually. I prefer Fletcher to Eriksen and play 3 5 2. Might even swap Austin for Zlatan and continue to ignore Spurs.

Plus, you know, I was right that Sanchez was a better captain shout 😉

Getting Alonso, which defender would you drop?

    Pieters, Friend, Amat, McAuley, Holebas.

I know friend is injured but probably back soon with some good fixtures. Pieters have pretty bad fixtures but at least they are keeping some cleanies. McAuley even worse fixtures but at least a goal threat. Amat and Holebas better fixtures but shocking defending..

mcauley for now, and then get in brunt after the fixtures ease in gw 19 odd

Yep. This makes sense. Probably Evans ➡ Alonso for me.

Holebas I think of those, Watford in a poor run.

or Amat. he'll likely be dropped again now anyway.

Morning dzzz, tough day at the office and made my transfers overnight....plan was walcott/alonso but ended up with sanchez/amat....thoughts on this below:

    Heaton --- Grant
Holebas Smith Amat --- Pieters Mcauly
Firmino Sanchez Hazard Siggy -- Fletch
    Kane Ibra Austin

Dont think i have ever had such a uber cheap defence and 0m itb...so i guess save a FT next week (hopefully!) and then reassess with 2FTs

These douche-bags who do their transfers before a gameweek has even ended need a slap in the face.... Causing price rises for no reason, seriously? PITA

My targets, Hazard and Defoe, have already risen... so annoying! People are just too impatient, a sign of the times I guess

I've kept one clean sheet in 5 weeks, and that was Heaton away at United. It's getting to the point of insanity now.
