Gameweek 18 comes to its conclusion this Wednesday evening as Southampton welcome Tottenham Hotspur to St Mary’s.

Claude Puel’s men seek a fourth successive clean sheet in front of their own supporters, with ever-present Virgil van Dijk (13% ownership) the most popular Saints player by some distance in Fantasy Premier League.

After netting twice in the 3-1 win at Bournemouth, Jay Rodriguez retains his role up front and is afforded another chance to play his way into our plans ahead of some fine upcoming fixtures.

Back-to-back home blanks against Hull and Burnley persuaded many to part company with Harry Kane last time out – the Spurs frontman was second only to Diego Costa for transfers out in Gameweek 18. Nonetheless, a big performance could have a big effect in the FPL standings – Kane is the sixth most captained player for this round of fixtures.

His Tottenham team-mate Christian Eriksen also earned significant sales after failing to deliver points against the Clarets, yet both have the underlying numbers to punish those who chose to look elsewhere.

    This has probably been covered, but is anyone thinking of going with 2 Chelsea defenders instead of 1 and Hazard?

    Looking at last 5.
    Hazard (25) / Alonso (31) = 56
    Alonso (31) / Azpilicueta (37) = 68
    Hazard (25) / Azpilicueta (37) = 62

    And trying to fit costa/kun back this could be an option?

      Had Azpi & Alonso for awhile now. Highly recommended, been easing the pain of my captaincy fails. Don't actually have either Costa or Hazard. Will let them get past the tough upcoming fixtures, then think again.

      see above plus if you have both Aguero and Ibra one wil get injured soon enough and then you have an easy transfer to Costa.

      Also Costa likely to return to statistical norm can't keep scoring this consistently

    So Kane was a dodgy turf away from getting a big score. Fine lines could have been at least 13points and then everyone thinks twice about getting rid for Costa.

      I wouldn't normally suggest a hit on Def but I think it could pay off as Cedric unlikely to start next match. If both moves are long term which I'm guessing they are, it might be worth a punt. I'd rather have Alonso than Walker whilst Cedric will continue to be a rotation risk.
