The first double Gameweek of 2016/17 comes to its conclusion at the Etihad tonight as Manchester City take on Stoke City at 8pm.

Pep Guardiola’s decision to rotate has hit owners of Raheem Sterling hard – the winger has been rested for tonight’s match and fails to even make the bench.

It’s a bitter blow for the 338,000+ managers who drafted Sterling in for the double – they’re left with six points in Gameweek 27 after he provided the assist for Sergio Aguero’s opener at Sunderland.

There’s no concerns over Aguero, though, as he leads the line once again.

Handed the armband by 12.6% of Fantasy Premier League managers and Triple Captained by over 159,000, the Argentine has produced two goals and an assist in each of his previous two home appearances.

Leroy Sane also retains his role in Pep’s XI. The German is currently City’s top scoring player of the Gameweek after notching the second at the Stadium of Light to return a ten-point haul.

Those holding David Silva and John Stones are left frustrated as the duo drop to the bench, with Kevin De Bruyne returning to the teamsheet after a stint as a sub away to the Black Cats. A big performance would go some way to vindicating the decision of 6,937 FPL managers to play their Triple Captain chip on the Belgian.

After delivering a third clean sheet in four, City’s prospects of more defensive returns were handed a boost after Marko Arnautovic failed to recover from the illness that forced him off against Middlesbrough at the weekend.

The Austrian is currently the top scoring double Gameweek 27 player after bagging both goals in the 2-0 win over Aitor Karanka’s side.

Up top, Peter Crouch’s appeal as a budget third striker now seems far from secure – the target man’s run of ten league starts comes to an end as he drops to the bench, with new boy Saido Berahino handed a first start.

    Who would you rather keep until WC (likely will WC as early as 30 or late as 33)...

    A) Hazard
    B) Eriksen

    SOT DGW in 34 will be che and MUN/ARS. Do we really think Gabbiadini will do well in 34?

      Southampton assets are overrated badly on here. They will be in mid table obscurity and have terrible fixtures.

    Is it worth doing Aguero --> Llorente for a -4 to give me 10 starting players next week if I am planning on doing Aguero --> Kane anyway?

    I see it as only really being a -2 anyway, and he has a decent chance of scoring at least one goal?

    Cheers 🙂

      I'm leaning towards it, actually think I have to do something as currently only have 7 this week and two of them are Phillips and Amat!

      My thinking may be different however of I was sitting on 10 players for this week already

    Lukaku - Gabbiadini swap option

    First, Lukaku in 2 games
    WBA (H) (Southampton BLANKS)
    HULL (H), (Southampton away to Spurs)

    Then Lukaku->Gabbiadini
    Bournemouth (H) (Everton away to Liverpool)
    Palace (H) (Everton away to Man Utd)

    Then Gabbiadini-> Lukaku
    Leicester (H) (Southampton away to WBA)
    Burnley (H) (Southampton home to Man City)

    Aw, just watched the scoutcast and yes it was a bit flat - you could tell Mark was hurting from the 0-0 tonight. On the flip side, great to still see the passion he has for the game; the passion that makes a TC fail hurt and subdue.

    Also I had no idea TM had sold Alonso! What is that all about?! Did his finger slip on transfer button? 😀

    Original plan was to do

    A) Siggy --> Sterling

    But now thinking of doing

    B) Sterling & Ibra --> Coutinho & Llorente

    Any thoughts? B leaves me without Siggy which is annoying, and I can't get him in because I would have three Swansea players.

    Heaton (Pickford)
    Coleman, Baines, McAuley (Alonso, Amat)
    Mané, Antonio, Fletcher, Carroll (Sterling)
    Lukaku (Ibra, Aguero)

    Would you take a 1 week punt on A.Carroll for a hit (effectively -2), especially if you are going to replace him with Kane next week?

    I am making my midfield transfers this week with Kane in for Aguero next week. So, either I could take a hit for Carroll and use some of the spare cash from the Aguero to Carroll(Kane) transfer to get a better mid or just get whomever I can afford this week and do a straight swap Aguero to Kane next week leaving cash in the bank. See below.

    A) Siggy + T. Carroll and 10 players in GW 28 + (Aguero to Kane in GW 29, with 1.8m itb)
    B) Siggy + 5.9m + A.Carroll -4 and 11 players in GW28 + (Carroll to Kane in GW29, with 0.1 itb)

    Hope it's not confusing.

      Not confusing me mate, I read the 1st sentence only lol

      Yes, I thought he was rusty v CHE but really put himself about, not frightened of injury etc... I liked that. Might go there mesen lol 😉

      1. fedolefan
        • 11 Years
        8 years, 9 months ago

        Yeah, I'm leaning that way too. Think he is perfect for a 1 week punt. Relying on him any longer is bad for my physical and mental wellbeing.

        The second para is just if I take the hit, I could redistribute some cash to get better mids.

          It was a tough gig v CHE, and tbh I don't think that stadium & pitch suit Hammers. Away v certain types should suit better.

    RP now that things have slowed down a bit...

    0 FT and 3.4 ITB

    (Pickford* Grant*)
    Baines Amat (Alonso* Cedric* Holebas*)
    Mane Siggy Phillips (Sterling* DeRoon*)
    Lukaku Rondon (Aguero*)

    Teams a bit of a mess here, thinking about the below....

    A) Sterling to Firmino/Coutinho (-4)
    B) Aguero to Llorente (-4)
    C) A&B (-8)
    D) Something else

    Thoughts appreciated.

      I'm doing C. I figure I might as well crash aggressively than risk missing out due to passive play. These are discounted hits, too. Key is to get guys you'd hold for more than a single gw.

      Llorente takes my Defoe budget forward spot
      Two pool mids are studs and take Sterling (Alli) and weeks ago, Sanchez's spot. One goes back to Sanchez soon.

        Yeah I tend to agree, over two weeks essentially Llorente takes my budget spot from Rondon who I would transfer to Kane next week all things being equal, not usually one for multiple hist but these are extenuating circumstances

    Actually contemplating -12 hit. 40pts ahead in my ML and surely rivals will do at least -8

    Holgate+Sane+Kun > Coleman+Lanzini+Llorente and 6.6m itb interests me.

      If Holgate is zero chance to play then could work out OK, you have a decent buffer if concentrating on ML

    Pretty set on these, still have wildcard in hand...

    GW28, Hazard OR Eriksen and Aguero -> Firmino and Llorente (-4) (field 10 players)
    GW29, M. Phillips and A. Carroll -> Pedro + Kane

    Only issue is Hazard or Eriksen out...

      Hazard out if you're getting Pedro. They don't score enough to warrant a double up for me

      I still don't think Hazard delivers enough to justify his price unless last week's score becomes more frequent

    4. Ibracadabra
      • 16 Years
      8 years, 9 months ago

      Fair re Hazard, the only issue is his ppg is 6.3m and Eriksen's is 5.5m with a large enough sample size (2/3 of season). With price no object, the question becomes is that 0.8m difference over about 12 weeks (~ 10 pts) worth it or is the 1.5M in price difference worth it... It is pretty close honestly and fixtures may just be the deciding factor.

    Got 8 for next GW thanks to Naughton getting the worst timed injury:
    Jak
    Brunt Baines FM
    Siggy Mane
    Lukaku Barnes
    (Mannone, Naughton, Alonso, Eriksen, Sterling, Sane, Kun)
    0FT 2.0ITB

    Used my FT getting Lukaku back, thinking of getting Coutinho/Firmino in for Sterling for -4 and leave it like that, sound good? Anyone else worth a hit?

                But is it worth a - 8 as that is what it will cost me? Because I want him gone come 29 I have double my rivals players with 16 points to gain so he needs to go - 12 to be on a level field

      I have ten playing and will probably take a hit to get an eleventh. Hit only costs four, less anything the new guy gets in 28. A chance to reshape your gw29+ squad on the cheap.

    Seen a lot of @FPLVirg posts on here asking me to explain Costa Counsellor's GW28 Bingo, which was mentioned on the scoutcast. Namely that Hits only cost -2 this week.

    Replace a blank player who would have scored 0.

    New player scores 2.

    Hit costs 4.

    But you are not replacing an active player who would score 2.

    Normal circumstances: -4 hit + - 2 (loss from active player) + 2 (new player) = -4

    GW28: -4 + 0 (non scoring inactive player) + 2 (new player) = -2
