    I wrote this about why Conte's by far manager of the season and I'll be damned if it's lost to a previous page cos it took a couple of minutes to type:

    Because he only has one player he chose (Alonso), and that was a hurried transfer to fill a hole

    Wanted to build mid around Nainggollan, didn't get him

    Wanted to replace Terry with Bonucci, Chelsea went out and paid 50m for David Luis instead, who was a laughing stock at the time.

    He eased Terry out without Rooney-esque public complaints, got Luis in the team of the season, made Moses into a viable right wing back, kept Costa's moanings from distracting, won the title with 2 games to spare after a radical formation change mid-season, all with none of the "they're not my players" or "it takes time to introduce a new formation" excuses managers usually come up with.

          Yeah, try having Kante or Hazard out for 5-10 weeks a piece

          Spurs had Alderweireld out for 5, Kane out for combined 8-9, Rose out for at least 6, Lamela out for the season, Vertonghen out for 4.....

      I rate Pulis and Allardyce personally. Masters of organisation, but not given ambition by their clubs. You realise how good Fergie was at extracting the most out of average players like Young, Nani, Valencia etc to win titles and get to CL finals.

      Conte stumbled across 3-4-3 after getting tonked by Arsenal.

        Not true he didn't stumble across 3-4-3. He played that formation all the time at Juventus and Italy with Bonucci, Barzagli and Chiellini. He thought that he didn't have the required personnel at Chelsea to succeed with that formation but because they were getting beat so easily by teams like Arsenal at the start of the season, he forced his team to play the way he was used to and gave the players the benefit of the doubt.
