A change in tactics last season following Owen Coyle’s arrival at the Reebok has seen Bolton place more and more emphasis on a short passing game than the physical, long ball tactics of yesteryear.  Coyle has also demonstrated a willingness to trust younger, unproven players, giving opportunities last season to  loaners like Jack Wilshere and Vladimir Weiss, and relying heavily this season on a trio of young midfielders, Stuart Holden (25), Fabrice Muamba (22), and Chung-Yong Lee (22).  Not surprisingly, Coyle’s faith has paid off, with Bolton sitting tied for 5th and with the youngest of the group, Lee, currently having the most points of any Bolton midfielder.

While I touched on Bolton’s defense (or lack thereof) in last week’s Watchlist article on Gary Cahill, there has never been any question that Bolton’s attack remains the strength of this season’s squad.  The fleet-footed Lee has brought his stereotypical South Korean work ethic to the Trotters’ right flank, supported by the desire and ability to fit into Coyle’s more aesthetically pleasing brand of football.  Lee has thrived in this system.

In addition to 1 goal, Lee already has 5 assists from the first 13 games, picking up two assists this past week against Wolves, pressuring and attacking to create an own goal and then calmly laying off a short back pass for an easy Holden strike.  And, with Martin Petrov dealing with a hamstring problem and now facing a challenge from Matthew Taylor for minutes on the left side of the midfield, Lee emerges as the safe play in the Bolton midfield, and quite the bargain with his price dropping to its present FPL level of 5.2.

Lee is currently owned by only 1.8% of the FPL owners.  Similar to the recent discussion of Wolves and Matthew Jarvis, Lee presents a nice differential and an attractive new budget option who is deserving of an extra bump on your cheat sheet due to a favorable run of fixtures that sees Bolton facing NEW, BLP, mcy, BLA, sun, WBA in the next 7 gameweeks.

I think that N'Zog, Brunt and Adam (if fit) offer far more potential in this price range. Elmander and Davies are better Bolton covers for me than Lee, but he could be a good short term differential though.

    Currently going with:

    Carson
    Konchesky Elmo Vidic(c)
    Adam Fabregas Bale Nani
    Drogba Tevez Carroll

    Subs:
Foster Simpson Coleman Ferguson (in that order)

Made my 2 'free' transfers of Malouda + Foley OUT, Adam + Vidic IN last weekend and it may have bit me on the ass.

Any recommendations of which first team/order of subs is best?

Last weeks game against Wolves was the first time I've seen Lee playing with a semblance of commitment - he actually got physical for a change instead of just running around doing naff all. His layoff for Holden's goal was very composed. Still, I need to see more. Three assists and a goal from twelve games isn't that encouraging.

You're really feeling the pressure of that high ranking aren't you, Emma. I can empathise with you because I've been there too. Except I was top 50, that's right, TOP 50! One mistake, ten thousand places dropped in a flash. You know, I was tossing up between Fabregas and Arshavin last season, around GW7. If I'd got Fabregas in, instead of Arshavin I probably would've been King of the World. I would be Reeson and his harem, his riches, his fame would've been mine! Please don't make the same mistakes I did, Emma. Or you'll end up in some seedy back alley bar in Argentina, all hopped up on metho and Tang, cursing that little Russian f#cker!

Oh and don't forget to have fun ;-D

Bench Williamson and have him first defensive sub. Elmo seems unlikely to start, so if he doesn't get on then Williamson will come in. Both will prob get 1/2 pts tbh.

I think he has served his purpose so I have options:

    1) Mummy to Shawx
    2) Mummy to Konchesky (not mad on this but some1 in here suggested it)
    3) Mummy to A. Hughes (he rotates well with Jones)
    4) No transfer and play Cashley, Coleman & Jones this GW

I need to sort out my keepers (currently Foster / Krul), boring as that is - I need a good rotation for the next ten weeks.

Jaask / Gordon looks the most solid but I'm only prepared to make one transfer this week and the other may end up having to wait. Would it be best then to use Foster / Jaask or Krul / Gordon in the short term?

Have to get rid of Terry.

Thinking of bringing in a Man City defender.

    Kolorov or Boateng?

Is Boateng a guaranteed starter or who is up to date on City's defense?

Sorry to ask again. Either of these worth a 4 pt hit?

    Piquionne – K Davies

    Alex – Ferdinand/Toure?

Team in link if that helps, already done Arteta – nani.

Who would be more likely to get the 4pts +? Wouldn't take a hit on a defender.

Hehe, yeah but Piquionne has Wigan at home next week, so could catch up those 4 pts!

The relatively cheap mf option is looking more and more like a relative smorgasbord with decisions on that 4th and 5th place MF hard to make. Anyone have news on Brunt?

Ahhh! I see! Tis true then, I currently have Adam and Jarvis, with Jarvis doing me proud last week!

Wit regards Brunt, going by what Di Matteo said yesterday, even if he is fit, I could see him being giving the day off.

I've taken a huge risk this week and, for the first time in my FPL career, I've doubled up on defenders. I've doubled on Ferdinand and O'Shea.

    Yay or nay?

Nay for me, not even sure if O'Shea will start and Ferdinand did strain his hamstring in the England so its al possible that he wont play. If both play though, then it would be a definite yay.

I’ve decided to miss out on last night’s price rise for Vidic & Rio, instead thinking that Man City offer a better defensive option. I also think Kolarov could offer some decent attacking potential, so the question is who to switch him in for?

    Do I go for a or b

    a. Konch & Mummy > Kolarov & Foley
    b. Dann & Mummy > Kolarov & Foley

Basically do I keep Dann or Konchesky!

    Current team is:-

    Robinson, (Carson)
    A. Cole, Konchesky, Dann, (Mummy, Perch)
    Fab, VDV, Nani, N’Zogbia, (Barton)
    Drogba, Carroll, Tevez

Dann if it has to be one of them.

      I'd downgrade Cole first though.

          I'm keeping A. Cole.

I'm leaning towards keepig Dann and losing Konchesky. Liverpool just seem to be crap.

Once Cole gets a few more 2 pointers in the next 6 I can see him dropping value quickly.

Chelsea may struggle with CSs with Alex and Terry out. Cole not worth the money without the CSs.

          Replace with City def probably.
