A change in tactics last season following Owen Coyle’s arrival at the Reebok has seen Bolton place more and more emphasis on a short passing game than the physical, long ball tactics of yesteryear.  Coyle has also demonstrated a willingness to trust younger, unproven players, giving opportunities last season to  loaners like Jack Wilshere and Vladimir Weiss, and relying heavily this season on a trio of young midfielders, Stuart Holden (25), Fabrice Muamba (22), and Chung-Yong Lee (22).  Not surprisingly, Coyle’s faith has paid off, with Bolton sitting tied for 5th and with the youngest of the group, Lee, currently having the most points of any Bolton midfielder.

While I touched on Bolton’s defense (or lack thereof) in last week’s Watchlist article on Gary Cahill, there has never been any question that Bolton’s attack remains the strength of this season’s squad.  The fleet-footed Lee has brought his stereotypical South Korean work ethic to the Trotters’ right flank, supported by the desire and ability to fit into Coyle’s more aesthetically pleasing brand of football.  Lee has thrived in this system.

In addition to 1 goal, Lee already has 5 assists from the first 13 games, picking up two assists this past week against Wolves, pressuring and attacking to create an own goal and then calmly laying off a short back pass for an easy Holden strike.  And, with Martin Petrov dealing with a hamstring problem and now facing a challenge from Matthew Taylor for minutes on the left side of the midfield, Lee emerges as the safe play in the Bolton midfield, and quite the bargain with his price dropping to its present FPL level of 5.2.

Lee is currently owned by only 1.8% of the FPL owners.  Similar to the recent discussion of Wolves and Matthew Jarvis, Lee presents a nice differential and an attractive new budget option who is deserving of an extra bump on your cheat sheet due to a favorable run of fixtures that sees Bolton facing NEW, BLP, mcy, BLA, sun, WBA in the next 7 gameweeks.

No, it says that Rooney is no more commited to your club then Balotelli is to City which is why you melted when he said he was leaving.

oooh, theres a tough one man. Ill be hoest, and im ever the optimist, but i see us losing. Had Donnacha Ryan been available, he would have started ahead of Mick O driscoll. I like O driscoll, gives everything, but he's powerless against the type of players the AB's have i feel.

I think Reddan is a major weak link asewell, and if sexton and stringer could gel it would be f**king awesome i think. Reddan brings nothing to the table, its a shame o learys thumb is busted and ryan is out cos if they were bother there, i think we'd have a great chance. O leary is basically Reddam times 5 in my opinion.

That said, Brad Thorn out, a debutant at hooker, Sonny Bill on the bench, we've a definite chance, and if we can jsut manage to feckin stay within a score, i could be running round the streets of Ireland drunk and neklkid for the next three days 🙂

i wont be betting on it, no way, tough game to call.

TOnights bets for me are Leinster and connacht double win 1-12 in willhill, best odds available at 2/1 and 7/4 respectively.

Ill aalso have a score on the same bet and harlequins to do leicester and sale to do northampton 1-12 each, again at Hills, best odds for the double. It's unlikelty they'll both beat northampton and leicester, but theyve a great chance, more so than normal, and at 12/5 and 3/1, 20 quid double pays out just under 300 quid.

Yeah I think Sonny Bill on the bench is a huge positive. Those reverse passes he does in the tackle are amazing and Ireland just wouldn’t be able to deal with the speed of it.

              Reddan will get slammed!

I heard a Kiwi analyst this morning say we will beat them …. “at some stage” and that we have a strong “hope factor” in favour of us!

What pitiless condescending crap! I think a loss is on the cards but might be nice to see what aviva will look like with people in it!! I was there for the Norway match the other night…. Pathetic

I'd just do the Elmo to Kolarov move if I were you.
      And bench Varney.

    Anelka or Torres?

      Neither!
Elmander is a better bet than both right now, and gives you a bit more time to wait on Torres and Rooney getting a bit of form.

One of the guys I work with has just confirmed transfers for a 12 point hit, he didnt know about the wildcard. If he tries to play the WC, will those points still be deducted?

No! You can play the wildcard at any point in a gameweek and if you've already taken a points hit, these will be nullified.

keeping him n playin him in starting 11...b'pool vs wolves is a 6 pointer match n adam has to be risked n even if he don't start i don't think he will come as a sub for a 1 pointer....

        +1

If he's even 50% fit he'll be risked. It's a massive match for Blackpool.

"I don't think he'll start tomorrow," Ferguson told radio station Key103.

"Maybe he will reach the bench. But he will certainly play on Wednesday against Rangers."

Ferguson also has doubts over Ryan Giggs and Rafael as United look to close the gap on Premier League leaders Chelsea.

Doesnt make sense unless their season is over, if he plays again before he arrives in january another medical wud be required

Am i crazy to get rid of Carroll this week? Newcastle's fixtures are horrible for a while now. Want to replace him with Elmander.

    thoughts on this week;

    cech (carson)
    konchesky, ferdinand, dann (simpson, coleman)
    vdv, nani(C), cahill, adam (ferguson)
    drogba, caroll, tevez

dont know whether to sub adam cos he is doubtful and not sure who to bring in for him. simpson, ferguson and coleman all have tricky fixtures
