Yahoo Focus – Gameweek 28

Once again, our partner game Yahoo are rolling out another big-money contest for Fantasy managers this weekend.

They are offering a Premier League £2.5k Saturday contest which takes in all six matches from 3pm onwards tomorrow, finishing with the 5.30pm encounter between Watford and Everton at Vicarage Road.

The contest is guaranteed to run, costs £5 to enter and is a multi-entry game, which means you can select up to five teams. The top 125 places pay out – there’s a minimum win-back of £10, with £250 going to the first place.

Driven by Opta data, the Yahoo game has a unique scoring system which is ideal for community members on the search for a Daily Fantasy Sports game.

If you’re new to Yahoo, you can sign up and claim a free £50 in credit to your account when you deposit just £5. Promo code: Fantasy50.

Before selecting your Yahoo XI, it’s worth taking a look at our Strategy Guide as this gives an indication of the types of players who tend to benefit from the rule set.

FFS Strongest XI

Loris Karius – £15
Kieran Gibbs – £12
Ben Mee – £14
Shane Duffy – £14
Pascal Gross – £20
Gylfi Sigurdsson – £19
Johan Berg Gudmundsson – £17
Abdoulaye Doucoure – £16
Sadio Mane – £25
Mohamed Salah – £28
Callum Wilson – £20

As goalkeepers earn points for wins or draws and pick up double the number of points as defenders for a clean sheet, Liverpool’s Loris Karius takes his place between the posts at home to West Ham. Jurgen Klopp’s side have yet to lose at Anfield this season and have conceded just nine times in front of their own fans – only Man United (five) boast a better record.

Priced at just £12 in Yahoo, the fit-again Kieran Gibbs looks a handy budget enabler for a home clash with Huddersfield. The West Brom left-back has supplied two clean sheets and an assist in his last three appearances at The Hawthorns and faces an attack that has failed to score in 12 of their last 14 on the road.

Ben Mee and Shane Duffy offer the prospect of points at both ends of the pitch at home to Southampton and Swansea respectively.

Neither player has managed to find the net this season, yet both Mee and Duffy have registered 20 attempts inside the opposition box this season – only Chelsea’s Marcos Alonso (30) has more among defenders.

We’re backing the Clarets to up their resilience after facing a tough run of successive home matches against Spurs, Liverpool and both Manchester sides. Before that, they had conceded just three goals in their opening nine at Turf Moor.

Similar to Mee, Duffy profits from the Yahoo scoring system, with the pair ranked among the top three players for blocks, with 36 and 41 respectively. Away from home, his visitors rank bottom for shots (86), efforts in the box (46) and attempts on target, with 25.

The Seagulls’ playmaker Pascal Gross has flourished in front of his own fans, playing a part in 60% of their goals at the Amex Stadium. At home, Gross has produced more successful crosses (28) than any player this season and ranks fifth for key passes, with 36. With all five of his goals arriving at the Amex, he’ll pose problems for a Swansea defence with one clean sheet in their last six on the road.

A trip to Watford affords Gylfi Sigurdsson the chance to continue his recent upturn in form. The Icelandic international has bagged a goal and two assists in his last two top-flight appearances and now faces the league’s worst home defence – the Hornets have shipped 26 goals at Vicarage Road already. The Toffees’ number one for set-pieces, he has produced more successful crosses (six) and key passes (five) than any team-mate over his respective last four matches.

Burnley’s Johan Berg Gudmundsson is a player whose game is ideally suited to the Yahoo scoring matrix. Over the last six Gameweeks, he is ranked top for successful crosses (13) and also found the net against both Liverpool and Man City at Turf Moor. With 15 key passes to his name, that bodes well at home to a Southampton side with one clean sheet in their previous ten away from home. Gudmundsson’s defensive contribution is also profitable – he’s made more interceptions (10) than any team-mate over that recent run.

Watford’s all-action Abdoulaye Doucoure has improved his attacking threat since the arrival of Javi Gracia. Across the new manager’s three matches in charge, no team-mate has bettered the seven-goal Frenchman for shots (seven) or key passes (nine). Doucoure supplied two assists against Chelsea in that run and also made nine successful tackles, placing second for the Hornets. Next up, he hosts an Everton side that’s conceded 11 goals in their last three away fixtures.

We’re doubling up on Liverpool’s attack, with last week’s Champions League hero Sadio Mane earning a call-up to our XI. At home to a West Ham defence with two away clean sheets to their name, the Senegal international will be brimming with self-belief after firing a hat-trick in the 5-0 demolition of Porto. Mane also supplied two assists in the 4-1 win over the Hammers earlier in the season.

Mohamed Salah joins Mane on our teamsheet for tomorrow afternoon’s Anfield clash. The Egyptian has amassed five goals and three assists in his last four home appearances and will be looking to mirror his brace against the Hammers back in Gameweek 11 as his quest for the Golden Boot gains momentum.

At home to a Newcastle defence with a single clean sheet in their last ten on the road, Bournemouth’s Callum Wilson completes our line-up. The Cherries’ frontman scored a goal and assist against both Arsenal and Chelsea in the last five Gameweeks and looks in fine form as Eddie Howe’s men attempt to return to winning ways after their seven-match unbeaten run was ended at Huddersfield last time out.

As Yahoo allows late swaps up until each kick-off, our listed line-up may well be subject to change.

The Weekend Contests

As well as the Premier League £2.5k Saturday contest, Yahoo are also offering a Premier League £1k Sunday contest.

Covering the two matches from that day, this kicks off at 12pm, when Crystal Palace entertain Tottenham Hotspur, and also includes Manchester United’s head-to-head with Chelsea at Old Trafford, which gets underway at 2.05pm.

This is also guaranteed to run, costs £5 to enter and is a multi-entry game, which means you can select up to two teams. The top 50 places pay out – there’s a minimum win-back of £10, with £100 going to the first place.

You can open an account and get started immediately.

If you register and deposit £5 or more, Yahoo will also give you a £50 bonus to be used as cash to enter paid contests.

Register here to claim the bonus.

You must be over 18 years of age, resident in the UK, and of legal capacity to register with Yahoo Daily Sports and open an Account. If you sign up, please always play responsibly.

Really want to captain Kane this week because everybody will captain Salah and I need to make up some ground. The prospect of Salah hauling and Kane blanking is terrifying though. Not taken the armband off Salah for weeks.

    Worth considering a -8?

    OUT: Jones, Otamendi, Son
    IN: Vertonghen, Zanke, Mane

    Or a simpler -4?

    OUT: Jones, Son
IN: Morgan (or 4.4 def), Mane

Cheers. Yes I can afford Eriksen ...got Kane though & was thinking of spreading the risk as I was 50/50 until I saw GW32 Mahrez at Brighton and Eriksen at Chelsea. Not using WC until 33.

Then thought of Spurs extra European exertions which tipped me slightly towards Mahrez. Money saved also goes towards Wilson & Ake for GW31 as I’m saving FH for later.
