Sky Sports Focus

We now turn to the Sky Sports game as we take a look back at last weekend’s action before preparing managers for the incoming Gameweek.

As always, we’ll examine the recent run of Man of the Match (MoTM) awards, the bonus point beneficiaries, transfer trends and Watchlist, before moving on to the Scout team and our future plans.

Gameweek 29 Man of the Match Awards

These were the players who caught the eye of the Sky Sports reporters and earned an extra five points as a result.

FixtureMoTM
Leicester vs StokeXherdan Shaqiri
Burnley vs SouthamptonOriol Romeu
Brighton vs SwanseaGlenn Murray
Bournemouth vs NewcastleDan Gosling
Liverpool vs West HamMohamed Salah
West Brom vs HuddersfieldRajiv van La Parra
Watford vs EvertonTroy Deeney
Crystal Palace vs TottenhamWayne Hennessey
Man United vs ChelseaRomelu Lukaku
Arsenal vs Man CityLeroy Sane

The most popular player in the game, Mohamed Salah (52.5%), picked up his tenth MoTM award of the season and has now overtaken Kevin De Bruyne, who sits on nine.

The third most owned player, Romelu Lukaku (34.1%), snapped into action with a tidy 17-point haul. He was also the second most-captained player overall, so will have caused some pretty hefty rank sways, although I suspect much of his ownership are “ghost ship” squads.

Aside from those two big names, it was largely differentials who earned the gong.

Gameweek 29 Bonus Points

Let’s take a look at any player to earn 40 points or more in bonus for the season

In this section I aim to highlight a few differential players with low ownership who I believe present strong options for the forthcoming few Gameweeks.

Three specific price brackets will be used to cater for our available budgets.

The players will evolve with fixtures and form, and offer Fantasy managers a nudge in the right direction.

Notes

A slight bump in rank for me thanks to a strong showing from my three Spurs and Liverpool assets.

But the rest of the team failed to deliver this week, although I’m generally pretty happy with my Overhaul team.

Theo Walcott was a late addition and is on the thinnest of ice in my squad. In fact, I may look to bring in Aaron Ramsey if he starts against Brighton, particularly as an Arsenal player looks key with the new fixture dates giving them several individual matchdays.

Ideally, I would like the low-owned Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang as well, but that would probably mean losing Firmino, which seems foolhardy given his recent form.

There’s lots to ponder for me, then, but I’m anxious about using any transfers. They’re a precious commodity as I’m below the average for swaps remaining.

I’m also convinced there will be great opportunities towards the back end of the season to bring in differential captains on single matchdays.

Slow and steady wins the race.

Captain Plan
Sat 3rd – Kane (HUD)
Sun 4th – De Bruyne (CHE)
Mon 5th – None

    Vertonghen or Davies?

I can maybe see Poch not risking Vert and keeping him fresh for Juventus.

Alternatively.... If Davies starts tomorrow plus plays against Juventus does that give Danny Rose the PL game next weekend?

I think if Davies plays v juve then rose starts tomorrow and vice versa.

I think aurier is safest pick for next 2.

I'd keep Sterling, he may not play at the weekend but he's the 3rd highest points scorer in the game for 8.8m. How much will you lose if you sell him and have to buy him back?

Exactly why its better used in GW35, they'll be more players to pick from instead of have a full team of 2 pointers

I think as long as you have 3 liverpool, siggy or walcott, plus 1 or 2 more from the other teams you'll be ok

    3. Kane Train
      • 9 Years

There's most likely going to be barely and clean sheets so getting the defenders isnt worth it, and if there is a fair few clean sheets then your mids / forwards are going to score bad save for later IMO

See this as a silly thought really, if most my team makes up of players that will have DGW later on then make more sense to keep that team together than loose value and not be able to put them back in and use the free hit to put players in my team that ordinarily I wouldn't have in my team and use transfers to bring them in and mess it all up!

        just my thoughts...

Fabianski is my only playing keeper - if it looks later on that the Swansea game is off, how does this look for -4? Also got Ogbonna and Kenny still somehow so need to lose Jones too.

He's playing deeper though with Fernandinho out and Eriksen's next two are very tempting. Can always leave the Dawson transfer.

Eriksen does look good tbf but still a bit sideways with KDB. Could you go Mane perhaps?

Even with 2 good fixtures I'd leave Davies alone with the possibility of rotation. WBA are bad but they have 3 decent fixtures, Dawson is nailed and has goal threat.
