Okay, I know Aguero is a shoo-in for a lot of us this week and it’s always hard to look beyond the Argentinian in an attractive home fixture on the back of a week off.
However, with his minutes likely to be curtailed due to an important Champions League game away at Hoffenheim on Tuesday and a top of the table clash with Liverpool to come, could there be value in looking elsewhere this week?
Do those with Harry Kane feel he is the standout selection this week? Could a risky Richarlison reap rewards?
Good feeling or not. Kun will not let you lose ground but Richa could. Visa Versa of course. If you are give bookies odds on a horse and they give the same payout; you will never move too far from the favourite.
This is s great point ☝️ I feel like if you don't captain Aguero but own him you are going to hope he blanks, which is a strange way to feel about your own player.
Aguero for me still. I don't have Kane tho, but he also has an important game midweek, plus Eriksen is out so it will probably have a negative impact on Spurs attacking play
Richarlison is a great option, but it's still early in the season for those risky moves imo
Aguero's E.O. will be through the roof, so if he's your captain, it doesn't really make much difference if he does well or not, right? Your arrow's green/redness will come from the rest of your team either way. I just can't get excited about that - I want to go for a differential pick.
Of course, big red arrow inbound if he goes wild and my captain pick does nothing, but I think I want to take the risk.
Has to be Aguero - rested midweek - ES over 100% - free scoring City team - great form - bonus magnet - Brighton are home boys, dire away Only limited minutes is a concern but Kun od tej most
Kane. Only because I think he plays more minutes and that's important when there's not much between the top two fixture difficulty wise. Form wise, City is better, but they also have a ton of different players who could score. I own Aguero as well, but if it's Kane's 90 mins vs Aguero's 60 mins, I think I'll take the 90 minute "risk".
I think if the captaincy poll had been worded, 'Who is the best standout captaincy for GW7', as Irbox rightly pointed out earlier in the week, and Sterling's name been included, it would certainly have boosted his ownership amongst those selling Salah or Hazard. Instead, people avoid him so as not to upset the template.
Aguero at the moment, Brighton lose Stephens and Gross. Have Hazard and Salah but the result in their match could go either way so I'm not confident. Don't have Kane. May bring Richarlison but it would took -4, I don't think I will captaining him though.
Current vice candidates: Arnautovic and Doherty (!). If I'm extremely feeling lucky today I would probably captain the latter.
Aguero atm. I feel he'll probably only get 1 goal, but if I go Kane and Aguero goes mad I'll lose ground/regret it. If Aguero blanks and Kane gets a brace/hattrick I'm gaining on most people anyway. If I was considering Mitrovic, Richarlison or anyone else I'd pick Aguero for the same reason.
Yeah Aguero - not much risk in doing so, if he blanks he blanks for most people.
I'm not particularly convinced he needs protecting for Hoffenheim, could easily just start Jesus in that game and keep Aguero for Liverpool which is a much more important game at this stage.
Kane for me... I have a feeling this might be the GW that most people wish they got him in for.
Guaranteed 90 mins, with Eriksen and possibly Ali out, nearly everything will be aimed at Kane so greater certainty on where the points are coming from.
Still have Kun in my side, so will only lose half his points even if he does haul - but great chance that Man City points will be shared evenly throughout - it's such an easy fixture in such an important week for them that I still think Jesus may start...
Just a thought and a tad too early: Bench boost TC FH chips. Do they hinder more than help sometimes? The amount of time spent manipulating teams to DGW's is amazing. Has anyone actually looked at the results is you did not manufacture issues?
I had a fleeting thought to BB this week. BB didnt work for me last year, used hits to get players who played twice and then waste value on my bench for the rest of the season
Absolute this. To get a playing bench over a DGW creates sacrifices in other ares. Patricio Hennessy Alonso Robbo Doherty Shaw WB Fraser Mane Hazard Moura Richi Wilson Mitro Kun When can it get better?
Yeah well could as always go either way and you’ve got AWB vs two bournemouth attackers 😉 I think though we have to be open to every season being different and chips in DGWs are potentially slightly weaker with heavy rotation in the top six this year (excluding Chelsea).
As you say all that planning can take away a lot of points when you ignore SGW players.
Imagine having all those same players and they played twice in one game week though. Should be a minimum of 4 points per sub = 16. In 3 years of BB in dgws I've scored 24,25 & 14 with the 14 feeling like a disaster
Your point is taken but this time of year there is no problem having playing subs. How often does it happen you get 4 subs of that quality? Far more rotation in recent years and those DGW's are sometimes not worth it.
I'm planning to play the BB after my first wildcard, when i'm pretty sure everyone will play and have good fixtures. It's a luxury we have WB and Bennett playing now, you never know late in the season with cheap defenders. Made same mistakes of keeping Bournemouth, West Brom defenders before blank gameweeks, form over fixtures.
So true. I worked out I got an extra 13 points last year saving the BB but I cannot calculate the harm I did manipulating my players to DGW's and getting benchers.
I can't help but feel Sane is a decent captaincy option after he remained on the bench during the week. Aguero the obvious choice I know, crazy to consider Sane ? I don't think so.
Hmm he has indeed picked up his production since I last checked. But I know that 3 weeks ago he took really few shots and basically only scored with FKs.
I suppose 4 shots vs BOU and 2 last week isn't awful. I still don't like him nearly as much as Richarlison though.
Are you are a stats kinda guy? (genuinely asking) Because if so then I might understand you're argument. Imo he's more than set pieces only and you might see this if you watched him plays, he plays high up the field and has a good shot and passing abilities. Set pieces add more to his appeal.
It's just so hard not to (c) Aguero this week. He's rested, Brighton have conceded every game even against weak sides, and Stephens their first choice DM is injured. All the signs say just (c) him and yet there's still a chance he's carrying a knock and then there's the crazy fixtures coming up which almost guarantee he'll get pulled on like 50 or 60 mins.
Wouldn't even be surprised if he was surprise benched either with that injury.
How's this look guys? Trying not to knee-jerk over the Liv-Che game but have also conceded the fact that it'll probably be a lower scoring week for me.
Kepa Alonso / Robertson / AWB Salah / Hazard / Mane / Frazer Mitrovic / Ings / Wilson
