FPL Question Time – Consult our panel ahead of Gameweek 8

It’s that time of the week again when we give Fantasy Premier League managers the chance to put questions to our panel.

If you have a burning query as you prepare for Gameweek 8 then we are here to help.

We’ve assembled another panel of three top-drawer Fantasy managers this week and will be bringing you a different trio for each Gameweek over the course of the season.

You can find out what their answers are on Tuesday.

Who’s on the panel this week?

Lejuan Basson – A South African-based elite FPL manager, who finished 24th in the world in 2017/18.

    Have 2 FT and holding Salah at the moment with no Tottenham - is it a no brainer to try and get Kane in for Mitro/Zaha?

    what are people thinking on the big 4 at the back still? rob-alonso-trip-mendy(when fit again)

    im torn between this back 4 (and awb) with :

    salah-haz-rich (hughes, lennon)
    arnie-vardy-mitro

    or downgrading defence somewhat to fund:

    salah- haz -sane/sterling (hughes , 4.5)
    arnie- vardy- mitro

    do we believe the likes of doherty and holebas are good enough and prem defenders are done or should i stick with Richarlison and keep the strong back 4, what would you do in this position?

        Mitro is inform and the coming fixtures are still good but my logic is Vardy/Laca are going to outscore him for the next 5GWs. I honestly think all 4 are still good options.

    I really don’t want to lose Aguero for one match for Kane. Harry has showed us on a number of occasions he is quite adept at blanking in the easy home fixtures (eg Huddersfield/Hull in ‘16/17).

    How does this sound for a -4 depending on today? Mendy, Zaha > Doherty, Vardy (C)

        I've picked up Arnautovic for Can a on a WC. Just got the sense the West Ham are starting to click and Palace have some difficult fixtures coming up. I could see Wolves dropping into more of a 5-3-2 if kicking Zaha around early doors doesn't work.

    RMWCT?

    Alonso | Robertson | Trippier | Doherty | AWB

    Hazard | Mane | Richarlison | Maddison | Ward

    Kane | Mitrovic | Arnautovic

    The idea is banking 2FTs for GW9 and then ship Kane and Mane to Vardy and Salah. Might be a bit sideways, but I still feel Salah will deliver. Away to Huddersfield I will have Mane, and Hazard vs United could be a decent captiancy option too. No City is a worry.

    Trippier seems like a heavy hitter def too many. I might just go with Yedlin in that spot, and disperse the rest of money.

    Richarlison or Maddison could be Knochaert, but it's just difficult to choose between the two.

    Looking at the 4 main big hitters (salah,haz,kun,kane), ideally i would want salah,haz and kane for short term but thats not possible without a 8 point hit so looking at the next best options. Will WC in gw10 so looking for 2 week options. What do we think about this:

    A: Play 433 with 2 from (Doherty, Awb, Robbo) + Salah + Kane + Kun
    B: Play 433 with 2 from (Mendy, Awb, Robbo) + Hazard + Kane + Kun
    C: Play 433 with 2 from (Doherty, Awb, Robbo) + Hazard + Salah + Kun
    D: Play 343 with Awb/Robbo + Dilva + Hazard + Kun

    B gives the weakest defence if Mendy is out as i will have to start Robbo (MCI) this week and potentially AWB (eve) in gw9.

      I'd pick B here. Hazard seems essential atm. I'm not too fussed about Salah and will risk him not repeating last season's exploits.

    I think this has probably been asked before, but I need some advice regarding the free hit chip. I have already transferred in Hazard for Salah yesterday. If I now activate my free hit chip today, when my team reverts to the original team in GW 9 am I right in thinking that it will have Salah in it and not Hazard because the free hit chip will effectively cancel out the transfer I have already done?

    The reason I am thinking this may be a good week to use the free hit chip is because I don't really want any Liverpool or City players this GW but will definitely want them in GW9. On the flipside, I would like 3 Spurs players this GW.

    WC options

    A. Wijnaldum & D Silva
    B. Fernandinho & Ozil.

    I think B probably gets more minutes. Although Wijnaldum has done well so far, Liverpool are deep in CM but Ozil's form can fluctuate wildly.
    European minutes will be and issue moving forward too.
