Harry Kane (£12.5m) has swooped into the Fantasy Premier League captain conversation in a big way after his brace at Huddersfield in Gameweek 7.

You can now vote in our latest Captain Poll below or in the sidebar.

With Cardiff coming up next for Tottenham’s star man, interest in handing him the armband is expected to be very high.

Crucially, it’s another Gameweek where some of the usual suspects cancel each other out with Liverpool hosting Manchester City.

That means options such as Sergio Aguero (£11.4m) and Mohamed Salah (£13.0m) will be much harder for Fantasy managers to consider.

Even Raheem Sterling (£11.0m), who many have considered signing after consistent and reliable form, is unlikely to be popular this week considering the nature of his Gameweek 8 fixture.

Eden Hazard (£11.1m) is expected to be the biggest challenger for Kane as he faces a trip to Southampton. The Belgian scored his sixth goal of the season against Liverpool but has only found the net once away from home in 2018/19.

Differential options this week could be Romelu Lukaku (£11.0m), who will be playing against Newcastle, while some might even consider putting the armband on Kieran Trippier (£6.2m).

Is it possible to have a team with Kane, Aguero, Hazard, and Salah?

      yes is the short answer

      Hart / 4.0
      TAA / Shaw / Dunk / WB / Bennet
      Salah / Hazard / Maddison / Knockaert / 4.5'er
      Kane / Kun / Ings

      But I'd rather eat gravel

How's this looking for next gw?

    Ederson
    Trippier, AWB, Alonso
    Hazard, Richarlison, Fraser, Maddison
    Kane(c), Aguero, Mitrovic

    Bench: Stekelenburg, Fellaini, TAA, Doherty

Great, but I think Docherty is worthy of considering for a more advanced role on the bench

Bench TAA and WB this week?
Plan is to do Kane Hojberg to Salah 4.5 before GW9.
Also, wondering what to do with Trippier before GW9/10 maybe downgrade to Laporte or Gomez? Will need funds to bring Arnie for GW11.

    Hart/Ryan
    Alonso/Trip/TAA/Doherty/WB
    Hazard/Richa/Maddison/Fraser/Hojberg
    Kane/Kun/Mitro

So this time you want to know the best captain for gw8, rather than who I will captain in gw8 which I believe was the question earlier in the season.
    Is this a deliberate choice?

I thought all of this season was best & not your captain for the coming week? could be wrong now... & tbh I still only vote for who i'm about to capt

nah, it's asked who will you captain so far this season - but they've changed it back to how it was last year

yeah they changed it on purpose, some complained about how it was - people just pick who they are captaining anyway so it's probably pointless changing it

    3. Netley Lucas

The question should be 'who will you be captaining?'

dunno why! shur if ppl just voted for the best capt option wouldn't Kane be over 90% this week.

i'd say lots still vote for who they are captaining

            • 10 Years

yeah true, so doesn't matter too much.

Agree with Netley though - who needs confirmation from others that Kane is the 'best' pick this week? I'd rather know how many are captaining Hazard instead.

From GW9 onwards what Pool assets are you going for, if any?
Main debate for me is Mane vs Salah

    Mane vs Salah
    Touches in opponents half: 272 - 263
    Touches in final third: 190 - 214
    Penalty area touches: 36 - 59
    Mins per chance created: 32.2 - 20.1

    Assists: 0 - 1
    Goals: 4 - 3

I'll be playing wildcard before GW9 and at the moment, I think I'll probably go for TAA, Robertson and Salah.

For me Salah feels like a better captaincy option than Mane when Liverpool have good fixtures.

The way the fixtures are, with my Hazard, Mad, Rich and Fraser I honestly can't see it being worth the transfers as they are all golden in the short-mid term. I'm going to bring in a second def I think for AWB and see how that pans out

Trying to get Kane and Hazard in for one week before playing wildcard next week. Should I do

    1. Salah > Hazard (free)

    Or

    2. Mane > Hazard (-4)

Number 1 means playing Wan Bissaka (WOL), while number 2 means I can choose between WB and Bernardo Silva (liv).
Leaning to number 1 right now, as I'll just bring Salah back in on wildcard for GW9.

Due to the fact that some people vote for who they think is the best captain and some people vote for who they will captain, I think there is merit in having two polls, one for each. Individual polls would encourage people to read what the difference is and vote accordingly and I think looking at the difference between them would be interesting.... but them im quite boring ;P

    1. MTPockets
        7 years, 3 months ago

Both approaches seem flawed in practice. Seems people vote for their captain but in a your-captain poll then grumble when their cap isn't on the list, even if 3% owned so pointless to list them.

I would sell Vardy in a flash for Kane, and would do either of the money raisers you suggest, especially if you still hold your WC to revert if all goes wrong

Choose the one to down-grade to afford Kane
          A) Alonso
          B) Pereyra
          C) Fraser

          Thanks

Wildcard active. Thoughts on this team? No Liverpool attack is worrying for me.

          Ederson Hamer
          Alonso Zabaleta VvD Doherty AwB
          Hazard Maddison Fraser Richarlison Hojbjerg

No LIV for GW9 and 10. What could possibly go wrong?

What have we seen from Liverpool so far that says they are the same team as last year and that we should worry about them knocking 4, 5 past these teams. Mane taking his few chances, Salah off the boil, Shaq and Studge and Keita and Fabinho give more depth and are pushing for starts. Yr living in the past, maaan

Liverpool attack hasn't really done anything to really worry you when your mid is basically the perfect current template and has good fixtures. I still question VVD over TAA. Just seems like wasted cash

'Liverpool attack hasn't really done anything'? Lol. They are joint second for goals scored, an average of 2.14 goals per game.

Half of them coming from own goals, defenders, penalties etc.

If I'm going to reshape half my team to take advantage of a moderate fixture swing I want to be more confident it'll be 3 or 4, not 1 or 2, and I want to know where the goals are coming from. I'm not keen at the moment tbh. Too many doubts in my mind. I think I will favour going with more defenders

          Aguero & Wilson (+ £2.8m ITB) > Lacazette & Vardy (+ £1.8m ITB) ?

          Lines up:

          Salah - Hazard - Maddison - Fraser
          Lacazette - Vardy - Mitrovic

That's one way to look at it.

Personally I bought Kane to avoide the "who will start of Moura, Son, Alli and Lamela" nonsense...

Would be interested to hear thoughts on the captaincy this coming GW.

Kane - Improving form, great home fixture.
Hazard - Superb form, great away fixture.

A real headache choosing between them. Southampton look defensively awful as do Cardiff. Who are you going for and why? Kane has trolled more than a few times in fixtures like this. Does this sway it toward Hazard?

Im going Vardy but think if you got Kane in for these matches he should be your captain

If you have Kane you have to (C) him for that game, simples

I'm leaning Hazard. Cardiff will park the bus and Spurs will come off a tough fixture against Barca, whereas Southampton are home and will be under some pressure to at least try to score a goal. However, this does depend on the line up from Chelsea Thursday - if it's mostly fringe players, I captain Hazard. If they play the first team, I'll go Kane.

Thinking of putting Holebas (BOU) in the XI instead of Walker (liv). Madness or...?

Not madness from someone who played Alonso over Bennett this week - but you always run the risk of missing a haul from someone as attacking as Walker.

To be fair to Hole, he's pretty attacking himself against a weaker defence. His heatmap is absolutely insane.
