Spot the Differential – Anderson creativity turns heads for Gameweek 9

While Liverpool team news is perhaps the most popular Fantasy Premier League topic this week, we shouldn’t forget about differentials.

In fact, the recent fitness saga for Jurgen Klopp’s Reds has triggered an inclusion of a poorly owned attacking Anfield asset.

He is one of three options, owned by under 5% of Fantasy bosses, who we like the look of for Gameweek 9.

Felipe Anderson (£6.8m)

Ownership: 2.6%

Marko Arnautovic (£7.0m) is, of course, the more popular West Ham option right now but his new colleague Felipe Anderson (£6.8m) is already coming into his own.

His role in set pieces has helped him rise to joint-second for chances created in the last four Gameweeks. He is level with Bernardo Silva (£7.6m) and just one behind Gylfi Sigurdsson (£7.4m) over that time period.

The Brazilian has been involved in direct free-kicks and his place within West Ham’s front three mean that he is often on the receiving end of crosses from the opposite flank – that’s why he was able to score against Manchester United in Gameweek 7.

Tottenham will be without Jan Vertonghen (£5.9m) again on Saturday and may be more vulnerable to a West Ham goal than usual, furthering Anderson’s appeal.

Anthony Knockaert (£5.5m)

Ownership: 1.9%

While Brighton have typically struggled away from home this season, a Gameweek 9 trip to Newcastle United could be their chance to buck the trend.

Only one side has allowed more penalty box goal attempts than the Magpies in home games this season and they are yet to keep a clean sheet in front of their own fans.

For that reason, Anthony Knockaert (£5.5m) could be a differential to consider. He has registered a fine balance between creativity and goal threat in the last four Gameweeks and has more shots on target than colleague Glenn Murray in that time too.

Furthermore, his role in set pieces could prove important. No team has conceded more headed attempts on goal than Newcastle in 2018/19.

Daniel Sturridge (£5.8m)

Ownership: 1.3%

No don’t worry, you haven’t accidentally stumbled across an article from 2014, we have actually tipped Daniel Sturridge (£5.8m) for potential success this week.

The Liverpool striker has made a comeback from injury this season that looks like it could be permanent at long last. More importantly, he’s been getting the job done on the pitch with two substitute Premier League goals this season and strikes also in the Champions League and EFL Cup.

With the recent fitness troubles of Mohamed Salah (£12.8m) and Sadio Mane (£9.8m) there is every reason that Sturridge could come into the side for the trip to Huddersfield Town.

Given he has averaged a goal every 21.5 minutes in the Premier League this season, a start in Gameweek 9 would stand him in good stead for attacking returns.

With Fraser a doubt, is Ings or Maddison a better bet as first sub?

If you dont play INGS in such matches then better to save money and go with 4.5mn cheap forward. Patient owners like me who follow stats and eye test and been very unlucky to have not been rewarded from Ings. He had best chance of game vs CHE and Bou are definitely worse off

I have 11.6 to spend to replace Shaw and Pedro (for a hit)

Who do you think is better to have?
    A-) Mendy + Neves
    B-) Richarlison + Duffy
    C-) Laporte / TAA + Schürrle

    Thanks.

    Pickford - Hennesey
    Alonso - Robertson - WanBisakka - Shaw - Doherty
    Pedro - Hazard - Salah - Fraser - Masuaku
    Agüero - Mitrovic - King

Richarlison + Lascelles. Newcastle have 10 nice fixtures (6 at home), Lascelles normally pops up with a few goals during a season and hasn't had one yet, think he's a great shout up to Christmas.

Sturridge more likely to play if Firmino and/ or Mane dont start. Shaq could start if one of Firmino, Mane, and Salah dont start or could even start if all 3 play so more possibilities for Shaq to get into the starting lineup

Guys I’m absolutely dumbfounded here, got an issue with Team Value on my account. It states that I have £100.8 with £1.2m in the bank.

Yet when I sell my team, ie for a free hit or wc, I only have £100.7 to play with. So basically what is team value? Is it their full price now, or what you can sell them for?

I had budgeted to have £102m to spend when I’m actually fact I’m some way off that (preventing me from getting sterling :(). If anyone can explain it’d be much appreciated.

    1. SADIO SANÉ
      • 9 Years
      6 years, 14 days ago

you've just got a load of players that have only risen 0.1, or maybe 0.3 so it looks bigger than it is - only Selling Value is really relevant

      1. SADIO SANÉ
        • 9 Years
        6 years, 14 days ago

although be careful of selling the 0.1 risers because you'll have to pay an extra 0.1 to get them back in if you want them

      2. Invincibles
        • 10 Years
        6 years, 14 days ago

I see, have to question what the point of stating ‘team value’ is if that isn’t their value to you but rather what it would cost to buy that team now.. how else should we factor how much we have can spend on a team?

        1. SADIO SANÉ
          • 9 Years
          6 years, 14 days ago

I guess knowing how much your team is currently worth just makes more sense - you just have to deselect them all to find out your SV

      3. Pierce34
        • 9 Years
        6 years, 14 days ago

Doesn't have to be odd numbers - any price rises have the same effect.

Invincibles - say you have Holebas - you may have bought at 4.5, he's now 4.9 so selling price is 4.7. (whenever you sell a player you lose 50% of the increase as a 'transfer fee' of sorts. This is rounded down so a 0.1 rise means you don't gain anything, 0.3 rise means you gain 0.1 etc.)

        1. SADIO SANÉ
          • 9 Years

yeah fair, trying to explain it simply though (probably failed)

    2. Efan Ekoku Pops

There's a difference between team value and selling value.
E.g. If Hazard's current value is 11.3M, but you bought him at 10.9M, you can only sell him at 11.1M.

Your team value is 102.0. Your selling value is 100.7. TV isnt important, SV is, because its the number you can spend.

    4. KingOllie
      • 9 Years

You only get half the value of price rises.

    5. Lemongrab
      • 15 Years
      6 years, 14 days ago

You only get half of any rises so if you bought someone for 6.0 and they rose to 6.2 your team value would show the extra .2 but when you sell that player you only get .1 if that makes sense.

Not sure on TAA(rotation risk) and Fraser injury doubt but looks good if you are confident about them.

    2 Questions;

    1) Start Begovic or Patricio (playing Doherty already)

    2) Bench one of Maddison, Ings or TAA
