Lacazette benched as Kolasnic misses out on Saints trip with injury

There was instant disappointment for owners of two Arsenal assets as team news for Sunday’s Gameweek 17 matches came out.

Alexandre Lacazette (£9.6m) is on the bench once again, with Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang (£11.5m) preferred as the lone striker for the Gunners.

Meanwhile, Sead Kolasinac (£5.1m) misses out on Arsenal’s trip to Southampton after picking up a thigh injury in training on Saturday.

He is replaced at left-back by the returning Nacho Monreal (£5.4m), making his first start since Gameweek 8. With Rob Holding (£4.4m) injured and Shkodran Mustafi (£5.4m) and Sokratis Papastathopoulous (£5.1m) suspended, Laurent Koscielny (£5.4m) and Stephan Lichtsteiner (£4.5m) line-up at centre-back.

Aaron Ramsey (£7.3m) and Mesut Özil (£8.1m) are named on the bench.

There is a third Premier League start for young Southampton defender Jan Valery (£4.0m) while Danny Ings (£5.4m) recovers from his recent hamstring injury to feature for the first time since Gameweek 12.

At Brighton, there is another game at false-nine for Eden Hazard (£10.9m) who leads the Chelsea line, flanked by Pedro (£6.3m) and Willian (£7.3m).

Alvaro Morata (£8.5m) was not considered fit enough for the bench, where Olivier Giroud (£7.7m) has been named.

Meanwhile, Mateo Kovacic (£5.8m) comes through his injury doubt to start the match in central midfield.

Glenn Murray (£6.6m) leads the Brighton line with Pascal Groß (£6.7m) operating as the number 10.

Brighton XI: Ryan; Bernardo, Dunk, Balogun, Montoya; March, Stephens, Pröpper, Knockaert; Groß; Murray.

Chelsea XI: Kepa; Alonso, Rudiger, Luiz, Azpilicueta; Kovacic, Jorginho, Kante; Pedro, Hazard, Willian.

Southampton XI: McCarthy; Targett, Yoshida, Bednarek, Vestergaard, Valery; Redmond, Romeu, Hojbjerg, Armstrong; Ings.

Arsenal XI: Leno; Monreal, Koscielny, Lichtsteiner, Bellerín; Xhaka, Guendouzi, Torreira; Mkhitaryan, Iwobi; Aubameyang.

Happy with a Liverpool 6/7-1 but need a Utd goal. Lot of double Liverpool defence in mini league and also Cup opponent.

Can we officially say we should learn to keep the essential ones if not injured - most of us sold Salah Haz Robbo or Alonso just because we fell in the Arsenal and Spurs trap ... :/

I sold Hazard gw 14 and Salah gw 16 and was 36k gw14. Got kane and Auba in which lets face it to date it hasn't worked, however my rank has moved up to predicted 16k with robertson to come.

Feel like i got away with it.

Going back to one heavy up top and hazard in mid.

    Kolasinac, TAA, Martial. Good times.

Kane not under threat from someone like Laca so I think it’s Auba/Martial > Budget/Hazard.

Always said Hazard is a season keeper as many of us have for years, so why I swapped him I’ve no idea.

Kane really doesn't justify his price (i have him in my team) seriously considering dropping him in my WC this week for either aguero or aub and have son or eriksen for spurs attacking points..

Same. To be honest I was banking on a Hazard blank vs. City, and then to be kept relatively quiet vs. Brighton so I can also quietly bring him back without having to rush.

As for Alonso, I'm glad I sold.

Don't you love moments like today. Cruising with Alonso clean sheet and Hazard on a rampage, Hazard assist to Alonso beaut denied by the post, minutes later the clean sheet is gone, Alonso sees yellow, and Hazard comes off with a small injury.
I'll take the win, good day.

You never know how shite one of your players might be.

wow, auba blanks and everyone wants to get rid, 2 weeks ago he was the best thing going and everyone and his dog rushed to get him which pushed his price up from 10.9 to 11.6. Hopefully everyone sells over the next week and he triple drops so i can pick him up on my WC

same with hazard, apparently he is the biggest troll going, however he is a proven high points scorer over the season, so like salah, you get them in and leave them in, unless they go on a real barren run then of course move them on.. but that is always dangerous as want you get rid they smash in a double points score, the joys of fantasy football

He’s done naff all for 3 weeks.

Wouldn’t it be a bit understandable, when people pay £11+ m for him and they get 1 assist in 3 so called easy games.
