Scoutcast Episode 281 – Buzzing

Harry Kane’s ankle injury, which is set to keep him out of action until March, tops the bill during an action-packed show that bizarrely also takes in James Bond and Toy Story.

After taking great pleasure in looking back on their excellent Gameweek 22 scores, the Scoutcast crew tuck into the key questions from the community ahead of the next set of matches.

Kane’s absence sees David, Joe, Az and Luke discuss the best forward options, with Manchester United’s talismanic striker topping their lists. Moving money into midfield is also considered as the crew look at Dele Alli’s Buzz Lightyear-esque ability to step up whenever his Spurs’ team-mate is absent.

Whether to ditch disappointing players from the ranks of Chelsea, Everton and West Ham is another issue tackled.

Meanwhile, there are some words of warning for those looking to deploy their second wildcard now rather than save it to help navigate the double and blank Gameweeks to come.

Elsewhere, Az’s round-up of the community’s recent moves showcases a high-flying manager with a licence to thrill in the overall rankings.

The crew finish off with a look at their transfer and captaincy plans as well as the best differentials and defences in Gameweek 23.

Danny Murphy is the absolute worst thing in football isn't he? How anyone can be worse than Robbie Savage is an impressive achievement but I think it's so.

I think he is the BBC's best pundit. Him and Shearer.

      The rest are too PC.

Lol I think you need to reassess what you want from a pundit. My only requirement is for them not to talk unrelenting shite and Murphy fails on that front imo

If you think he's bad then stick The Debate on SS1 on now and listen to Andy Cole.

He's making Tim Sherwood look good.

He does like a good moan and has very little positive things to say about anything a bit like Shearer.

All he ever does is moan and drone on and on and on and on. No pundit talks as much as him either. Constant drone. Absolute drivel every time

I posted a few days ago saying he was the best BBC pundit and I stand by that. It isn't that he is great (although he did use to be better), he is just better than the likes of Jenas (hired for his accent), Shearer who quite literally just describes what he sees, Neville who chats absolute shite on every subject and Savage who the less is said about, the better et al. Awful set of pundits, really.

It's up to you mate. I've captained salah for those 5 gameweeks and gone from 75k to 18k.

Personally I'd pay the extra for a reliable captain option.

Got them both, tbh. Just can't understand how out of favour Hazard has become. I'd have thought Kane was the premium people would be looking to offload this week. Hazard vs Arsenal looks mouth watering.

The problem to me is haz plays well and still isn't getting returns.

Mo and Kane were getting returns when not doing that much.

Bad captaincy choices cost lives (or something) and for 10m plus I expect them to be captaincy options.

2 in 14 isn't good enough for that.

No Blanks or Double Gameweeks for Liverpool this season!

This will be the 3rd consecutive season with no blanks and doubles for the Reds.

This also means the nr1 candidate for TC is probably out which should make it more diverse.

Sounds like Arnie can only go if they get one. Main one seems to be Maxi Gomez (Celta). Also Piatek and Jovic.

All three are 16 miles better than Chicha. Piatek is in the mix for Rea Madrid. Jovic has been red hot in Bundesliga and the top goalscorer. Maxi is good too.

All of them are really young and will take some time getting used to PL.

Over 500k teams have sold Kane this gameweek.

I’m genuinely surprised there are that many active players who owned Kane. That’s a 12th of the game who are active, had Kane and sold him in the last 3 days.

I heard that from a sample taken by FFS a few months ago only 45% of teams were active. That number has probably fallen somewhat since then.

I suppose 1 in 3 having Kane is about right. If you’re active, you are going to sell him too. Perhaps it’s not that surprising after all lol

500k xfers out in 3 days must be close to the record, especially this late in the season when many lose interest.

I've done a -12 this week.. And it feels wrong..

    My team now is:
    Fab
    Digne - Robbo - AWB
    Sane - Salah - Pogba - Eriksen
    Auba - Rashford - Jiminez
    (Hamer - Højbjerg - Cedric - Peltier)

    1.0 ITB.

Would you recommend to activate WC? - or just suck up the 12 minus points. I'm leaning towards the last.

Always planned to keep WC to navigate DGW/BGW but given the disruption of TAA/Kane/Son, plus would love to fill team with City/Man U/Liverpool given their fixtures, would also save me 8pt hit, normally not to concerned about the hit but combined with the the points mentioned above am torn between WC or not. Any suggestions?

Basically Joe said it’s a massive bonus to have during the dgw blank gw phase - why limit yourself. But equally az said he used his Jan last year and if you think it’s going to result in a significant increase in points over the coming gws then why not but if you can fix your team for -8 it’s not worth it

So with all my Kane I money I feel my obvious move is to transfer Success to Firminho and switch to 3-4-3.

The thing is given everything we know about Liverpool at both ends of the pitch, and given the price difference... I can't help but feel VVD and a 4-4-2 makes more sense....

    Am I missing something?

      I’ve gone Firm.

I mean Pool get a lot of CS, but you can’t rely on this “6 points every week” especially as that’s not the case, AND they have some defensive injuries right now.

I think firm is a great differential for the next month.

But this completely discounts VVDs baps and pretty reasonable goal threat.

Having a Robertson and VVD double also gives you the edge you were looking for over other teams below.

Yeah but it’s also positional scarcity. Players like Digne, Doherty and AWB can all return. Shaw and Alonso are also good value.

Strikers.. it’s a waste ground with few options beyond Rashford imo.

I think that's really what is making me think of Firminho at all. I just wonder whether thats actually that important.

I felt so. I keep getting annoyed when I bench Digne, AWB, Doherty for their returns and didn’t feel adding Pool defenders would help that.

We have great defender options and so I’ll use those to enable more on players like Firm and Sterling who could be amazing differentials ! It’s very close imo and wouldn’t knock anyone going with the pool defenders of course.

Id go for VVD. Bobbys heat map is disgusting for what should be a striker. He could score for sure, but he doesnt give me any confidence.

I think part of my thinking with him is that if Salah is captained by everyone then having some supporting cast gives you the possible edge when he does haul. It worked last year!

It could very well work. Im just not sure for that money and the position he plays.

Yeah I can understand the negative aspects. His stats are just “ok”, but I’m always looking for something different beyond the template so gonna punt and hope Liverpool concede every game 😉

Rumours of Niasse going to Cardiff on loan

Now that’s a cheap striker we need at 5m

Cheap yes but meh. I’d recommend Ings or just go total fodder like Quaner

Rashord, Salah and Ings in for kane, Camarasa and Vardy for a hit? Or should i just make it -8 with Robbo for Alonso

Yup 0.1 short. But tbh I was leaning more to Lindelof anyway. Shaw is bound to get injured.

Was also thinking of getting Ings in and rotating with Anderson. But since I am eyeing possibly Anderson to Alli next week, should i just go for a non playing 4.5 and save myself the bother

    A) Ings - Kun or Aub
    B) Jim - Firmino

Its so hard getting to the top 10k. Was about 20k. Plummeted to 50k one week. Spent about 4 weeks trying to get back to around 23k. One bad week, right back down to 44k

I was around 40k before Christmas and then plummeted to 200k - overthinking and trying to make up ground into the top 10k. Back to 150k now but agree, it’s hard.

Lloris is a poor choice. Fabianski, Heaton or Etheridge much better.
