Scoutcast Episode 281 – Buzzing

Harry Kane’s ankle injury, which is set to keep him out of action until March, tops the bill during an action-packed show that bizarrely also takes in James Bond and Toy Story.

After taking great pleasure in looking back on their excellent Gameweek 22 scores, the Scoutcast crew tuck into the key questions from the community ahead of the next set of matches.

Kane’s absence sees David, Joe, Az and Luke discuss the best forward options, with Manchester United’s talismanic striker topping their lists. Moving money into midfield is also considered as the crew look at Dele Alli’s Buzz Lightyear-esque ability to step up whenever his Spurs’ team-mate is absent.

Whether to ditch disappointing players from the ranks of Chelsea, Everton and West Ham is another issue tackled.

Meanwhile, there are some words of warning for those looking to deploy their second wildcard now rather than save it to help navigate the double and blank Gameweeks to come.

Elsewhere, Az’s round-up of the community’s recent moves showcases a high-flying manager with a licence to thrill in the overall rankings.

The crew finish off with a look at their transfer and captaincy plans as well as the best differentials and defences in Gameweek 23.

Hey community! How does my WC team look? Any suggestions are welcome!

    Alisson / (Button)

    Robertson / Trippier / Shaw / (AWB) / (Bednarek)

    Salah / Sane / Eriksen / Pogba / Sigurdsson

    Rashford / Jimenez / (Long)

I think Spurs will struggle without Son and Kane ... not sure Eriksen is worth the money.

      Richarlison > Siggy

but a playing third forward could come in handy for the blanks ie.27 if you need to bench City, Eve, Spurs/Chelsea assets.

Think I need to hit the WC button w the double blow of TAA/Kane.

All feedback welcomed (Players in CAPS are ones I have already - Sane was brought in for Son this week)

    Allison/Button
    Digne/Shaw/KOLA/DOHERTY/Bednarek
    SALAH/SANE/POGBA/RICH/FRASER
    Auba/Jimi/RASH

    Also leaves 0.3 itb

        Its such a bummer....

Do you like my lineup? It basically allows me to switch easily from 3-4-3 to 3-5-2 as I can choose from Rich/Fraser/Jimi for my 7th attacker slot each week.

Not thrilled too much to be honest. I'm not chasing value on my WC with Rich/Fraser since I'm playing it early I need to differentiate. I'm letting the others play the value game while I'm loading up on premiums. Auba vs Haz/Raz is where I've also gone different.

Appreciate the input Fedo...considering Sterling over Auba.

Too much cash on the bench each week IMO. I would personally downgrade Fraser or Rich and use that cash to get another increase. e.g. a Spurs mid or a Liverpool defender in for Kola.

        Here's the latest

        LLORIS/Button
        Robbo/Shaw/DOH/KOLA (can change him out)/Bednarek
        SALAH/SANE/POGS/Sterling/FRASER
        RASH/Jimi/Long

1.5 itb for Kola upgrade or, perhaps Fraser (Anderson is the only one, hate to rly lose Fraser)

Looks good!, personally i'd have less cash on the bench but if you want to be flexible with your formation then you've done it.
Could do Fraser -> Puncheon, maybe a defender to AWB if needs be and could get a spurs mid if you fancy eriksen/alli for their good fixtures.

I also sympathise, hit my WC too this week. Had Kane, Son, Lovren, TAA and Snodgrass >.

        Thank you Athos.

I think the Spurs attack is going to take a hit, Son Kane gone means a problem to me, even with Eriksen and Alli likely stepping up-- could be some unpredictable point sharing too.

Im more confident in their ability to keep a CS

See above for new draft (mainly adds Sterling instead of Auba and commits me more to a 3-5-2

I like the new team, I'd probably pick someone other than kolasanic but if you like him go for it! Yeah I can see where you are coming from on the spurs attack, they have some nice fixtures though.

My WC looks like this atm:
          Etheridge
          Robertson, Van Dijk, Digne
          Salah, Pogba, Eriksen, Sane
          Aubameyang, Rashford, Jiminez

Well, I agree and disagree - I definitely prefer Sane and Sterling to Richarlison and Felipe Anderson, but I do prefer the two Brazilians to anyone else in their price range. If Bournemouth hadn't made a lucky goal-line clearance there wouldn't even be a discussion on whether Richarlison is worth keeping or not, whereas Anderson looked great vs. Arsenal, and in the matches before that.

After tinkering most of the say yesterday, making several changes, I'm back to almost where I started with my initial draft haha! Shows how we overthink this game. Not for everyone, especially the faint hearted but close to set on this:

    Alisson
    Robertson / Digne / Shaw / VVD
    Hazard / Alli / Pogba / Eriksen / Sterling
    Rashford
    (Speroni, Rondon, AWB, Long)

Did consider but dont particularly need to money for now or moves in the short-term, plus Long might get me something in blank GW27 (when I'll likely need to bench City/Spurs or Chelsea assets) whereas Quaner is just totally dead in the water!

Ings back for 27 would mean no Long most likely

New manager really like Long seemingly and he will at least be used as an impact sub imo. I dont have BB chip so think he's a good option at the price albeit one who I'll rarely need hopefully! Have my eye on Niassa at at Cardiff possibly now though!

the eternally ireelevent shane long is definitely not the solution in either case

A lot of faith in Spurs sans Harry and Son. I'd be wary of that.

Being chopping and changing out Eriksen alright but I have a feeling the opposite might happen and the rest of them will step it up in Kane's absence!

Do you think I'll be able to get away with this forward line given the rest of the team? I don't think that any forwards are good value at the moment apart from Rash.

    Allison
    Robbo Alonso Luiz Doherty
    Salah Hazard Sane Pogba Rich
    Rashford

    Hamer AWB Success Quaner

see my team above, we are taking a similar approach. The way I see it if/when I really need a big hitting forward (Auba) I can downgrade a mid (Sterling/Haz) to get him in two moves...how bad!

you will find that hard to do though with Success and Quaner unless you have money itb which I'm guessing you dont?

I'm going to monitor Niasse now that he's on loan at Cardiff and 5m. If he gets in the team he could do well.

Your team looks good above but I'd be a bit weary of Shaw and the Spurs double up in midfield

Especially as Eriksen might play a bit deeper now that Sissoko is out

Yep, its true that he might not be value but he can still bag points from deep. Hopping the double Spurs mids and triple LIV defence can act as a strong differntial if it comes off. Could be a disaster I know only too well though!

Yeah, I think cheap up top could be the way to go for the next while and as you said a premium forward is only two moves away if it goes tits up.

    Fabianski (Button)
    Robertson, Digne, Doherty (TAA*, AWB)
    Salah, Hazard, Pogba, Richarlison, Camarasa
    Rashford, Jimenez (Kamara)

    1FT, 6.4m ITB.

    Already done Kane > Rashford.

    A. Camarasa > Sané
    B. Kamara > 10.9 or less (just shy of Aguero/Auba)
    C. Save FT

    How about this wildcard draft?

    Lloris 4.0
Digne Robertson AWB Van Dijk Doherty
    Hazard Salah Sané Pogba Martial
    Rashford Llorente Jimenez

Why Martial? Also wouldn't be keen at all on Llorente. Transfer waiting to happen.

Think Martial will outscore for example Richarlison over the new four gameweeks. Llorente is kind of a punt but if is doesn't work out it's nice to have someone to bench
