Allsvenskan Fantasy: GW7

Looking ahead of GW 7 in Allsvenskan Fantasy, a few interesting picks emerge having both the fixtures and form to deserve our attention as sleeping giants IFK Göteborg and Elfsborg have awoken.

IFK Göteborg – back at their best?

It’s fair to say the Gothenburgers have been struggling as of the last seasons – but we might need to reconsider our view on the former UEFA Cup winning side that dominated Swedish football with 10 league titles between 1982 and 1996. 3-0 against AIK makes it three out of three home games where IFK has scored 3 goals (conceding just once). Two away games await, before tough home games against Malmö and Hammarby, but Nygren (now 6.1), Sebastian Ohlsson (6.7) and defenders Starfelt (5.5) and Calisir (4.9) have all proven excellent value and gotten on the scoresheet. They are likely to continue racking up the points given the way they play, especially as they travel to Sirius this weekend who shipped 4 at home to Elfsborg

Cibicki brilliant in a free scoring Elfsborg

To be fair to Sirius however, they faced a superb Pavel Cibicki (8.6) who followed-up 1 goal and 1 assist with 2 new goals. The in-form striker now has 4 goals and 1 assist to his name. Tricky fixtures are looming as Elfsborg face both Norrköping and Malmö in the next two however, before a very interesting home game against AFC Eskilstuna in GW 9. The prospects are excelled further by the fact that Elfsborg now has scored the most goals of any team (13, Gothenburg second at 12) and could continue to deliver at home to a Norrköping team that are yet to find the resilience of last year.

Häcken – Sundsvall – goals galore?

Another in-form striker is Linus Hallenius (10.6), although he stated in local press that he does not feel like he is performing as should be expected from him. Fantasy managers can’t complain however, as Hallenius has 3 goals and 18 points in his last 2. This week Hallenius travel to Gothenburg in order to face Häcken who just like Sundsvall put 3 past their opponents. Two of the most attacking teams in the league go head-to-head in what is a mouth-watering prospect for Fantasy managers.

Impotent AIK adding further question marks

AIK has scored the least amount of goals of ANY team in this year’s Allsvenskan, having netted only 4 times in the opening 6. A home game against AFC Eskilstuna is the perfect occasion to turn the trend around, but several questions have arisen in the capital and it seems as if we can’t trust neither their previously unbreakable defence nor their attack. If you have AIK assets you should hold them for this game week, but if AFC can’t be breached – it’s probably time to ship.

Witry is back!

It was a short spell on the side-line for one of Fantasy Allsvenskan’s most popular picks. Witry (5.1) returned to the starting line-up for the Stockholm derby (2-1 Hammarby) and served Buya Turay (9.7) for Djurgården’s goal. This means Witry now has 2 goals and 1 assist in just 3 games, averaging 9 points per game. Facing kind fixtures for the entire spring and early summer, we should probably look for a way to get him back.

Away teams as favourites

Malmö should cruise to victory against newly promoted side Falkenberg and we can expect them to win by at least a 2 goal margin. Hammarby travel to Örebro and Djurgården face Helsingborg in games they should both be favourites in but where others have stumbled a bit. Kalmar – Östersund is the last matchup of the weekend and should be an even event, but Östersund has a bit more quality in the squad and are likely to get away with at least one, probably all three points.

Discussion

What are your views on this GW?

Should we move on AIK assets for the likes of Göteborg and Elfsborg players?

Who did you captain?

I'm finding Allsvenskan Fantasy tougher than Eliteserien Fantasy, but I got off to a decent start this GW with returns for Sundgren and Nalic in the first game. Hopefully my captain Christiansen, or even my VC Traustason, will be involved in a few goals against the leaky Falkenbergs FF defence tomorrow to give me a boost up the rankings.

I've had Cibicki on my Önskelista since the start of the season, and I'll probably transfer him in for Jeremejeff in time for next GW, unless Jeremejeff hauls against Sundsvall.

Thanks to you and anyone else who posts these articles, by the way. The information and analysis within is invaluable to me, and probably others.

That’s great to hear, me and Hansel are trying to put out one a week to keep it going.
Malmö should do well against Falkenberg so could be gold! I’ve got Rieks as captain so hoping for the same.

Sold Cibicki on WC in GW 4 unfortunetely, might try to get him back soon!

      Thanks again.
AIK - a let down on the cs but Sundgren goal and Nalic assist made up for it. Sold Obasi a while back - as you say not great for non-pen goals. Paulinho captain.
Need to have a think about how to afford Hallenius in a few weeks for the double, and maybe another from Malmo (+ Dahlin/Traustason)

Last gameweek was superb for me, taking me up over 2000 places into the top 400. Rolled out my wildcard as planned this week, but had a pretty slow start today. Looked promising when Mets picked up two bonuspoints early on, but then the goal from Sundgren and the wiped out clean sheet and assist from Nalic really spoiled the party. The late strike from Nygren surely didn't do me any favours eighter. Down a couple of hundred places, not the end of the world, and still convinced I made the right picks.

Was deciding between Jeremejeff and Rieks for captain and landed on Rieks. Falkenberg are a much worse team than Sundsvall, and even if he doesn't score he looks likely to pick up a couple of bonus points instead.

Had Rieks as captain too, sorry for breaking him 😉
I'm having a very tough time trying to get captaincy returns this season, part of it is just Allsvenskan and players lack of consistency but I have to assume some responsibility as well...

        Nice rank! 🙂

      Paulinho (C) misses a penalty…
Having a nightmare FPL GW as well, so I shouldn't be surprised.

That's just really unfortunate, the logic behind the captaincy choice was still solid!

Yes, he did seem the obvious pick, even when owning Jeremejeff as well. Depending on transfers, I might captain him this GW as well.

*reason being no other obvious captaincy picks in my team (besides Jeremejeff).

Sundgren captaincy puts me well ahead this gameweek, helped with a Jeremejeff and Aliti goal and Abrahamsson CS.... got some surprise benchings so I'm sitting with Moro and Jönsson vs. Berg and Ring tomorrow to close the round...

Not a bad week so far, returns from Sundgren, Saeid, Tankovic, Haglund & Jeremejeff (c), waiting on Joelsson, Danielsson & Thorarinsson currently on 44 (-4)

Really need to cover Hacken defence soon...

Blomqvist 2 points off the bench then!

Thinking of doing Christiansen > Tankovic. Transferring Tankovic out on WC was a big mistake.

I did Christiansen to Tankovic before the weekend to enable a Malmo defender

Seems like a good move. Tankovic just keeps getting points!

I did Sema to Tankovic for a hit netting me a very nice extra 1 point 🙂 He was so involved though, this could be his season where he finally shows some consistency.

He's certainly had a good start! I've only watched one Hammarby game, but he was very involved in that match.

Difficult to watch as a non-owner!

Annoyed with that Paulinho penalty miss as a Paulinho captainer and Jeremejeff owner. Did jump inside top 1k though, just.

Benched Nygren for Dimitriadis after seeing Panos started, but that backfired in the 90th minute. Nygren keeping up his 1 shot per 90 minute ratio, but I guess as long as he keeps scoring we can't complain. Just a 3p loss in it at the end, so not too bad.

Heard rumours Häcken aren't looking good. Tempted to ship one of Paulinho or Jeremejeff, maybe Paulinho as he's not justifying his price at the moment. Besides the game vs. FFF he hasn't really delivered.. Maybe that game was down to a poor FFF team?

Thinking about getting Kjartansson and Nalic this week for Levi and one of Jeremejeff and Paulinho..

I think Jeremejeff is still a good prospect, if anyone should be shipped it's probably Paulinho (even though it comes with its own set of risks). I have Kjartansson and have had for most of the season but that's partly because I just like him and he plays for the team that I support. He doesn't seem to do that well on bonus but he is starting to show some signs of real form and Hammarby have two home games now that should mean attacking returns for him!

Sitting on 40 pts right now, with three players going today, so it could be a decent week if my three score well. Have 7 pts from Aliti on my bench..... which is frustrating!

Thanks for the great article as always

Nalic second off the bench, feeling extremely lucky!

Having a decent bench is usually quite important in Allsvenskan (although we haven't seen it as bad as it can be yet) so good on you! I had him second on the bench as well but all my players played unfortunately ;P

Tankovic seems like a really good captaincy option kext week. Between him and Nalic for me, Hallenius may be the best choice though

        I'm going Hallenius, could explode.

Been thinking about Nalic & Tankovic though, but think they're enough just to have in my team.

Glad I decided to go with a premium keeper on my wildcard, as Petterssons 9p yesterday really saved my gameweek. Otherwise disappointed not to get a single clean sheet out of Mets, Karlsson and Bengtsson, and my late captain switch from Jeremejeff to Rieks didn't help eighter.

Not looking forward to next GW, going without Hammarby players I expect big red arrows on friday night. Not a clue on who to captain eighter as I don't have any Hammarby player nor Hallenius. Jordan Larsson against Göteborg is a decent fixture I guess, but I don't really fancy the strikers as they are so shy on bonus. Might as well keep it on Rieks and hope for better luck this time.

What are peoples expectations on the derby next GW? I own Karlsson, Mets and Witry and I'm really not sure on who to start there. Djurgården look pretty solid, and the AIK attack doesn't scare much. Still AIK are capable of keeping clean sheets against anyone so it could go eighter way. Currently got Witry starting and Mets/Karlsson on the bench, but that could change.

Right now it feels like a 0-0 game. Djurgården have been really up and down this season and the second half was the worst yet. They were extremely lucky to get away with 1-1, should have been more like 4-1. But AIKs offense feels really dull so can't really see any goals in the derby
