Pre-Season

Premier League pre-season friendlies: a day-by-day fixture guide

Pre-season is well underway and over half of the teams in the Premier League have already been in action over the last week.

Our ‘Pre-Season’ tab provides a comprehensive team-by-team guide to all 20 clubs, detailing the dates of their fixtures as well as the minutes played, goalscorers and assist-makers in each of the games.

For who those who prefer a chronological calendar of this summer’s friendlies, we have put together a date-by-date version in the article below.

Some teams are scheduled to be in action twice on the same day, so any ‘fixture clash’ you may spot is not (necessarily) a mistake.

We’ll have more Scout Notes for you over the coming days and beyond as we bring to light any stand-out team selections, injury updates and talking points from the various pre-season games.

Our pre-season minutes spreadsheet has been updated in the meantime:

Dunk at Leicester if it happens will provide an interesting premium defender dilemma - he'll clearly prove outstanding value, but will the difference to a 6.5/7m still prove worthy extra investment for starting ix? Will be a close calculation I think

It doesn't matter. 3x premium + Dunk will be the meta.

I’ve been on 3 premium plus 4.5 for a while - it enabled an awful lot.

Looking at fixtures I’m not convinced Dunk is that great before likely first WC. May stick with what I have. Going forward though he could be it

I'd have 4 premiums and Dunk. A 4m defender (Kelly) is a false investment as you need to use up 2FT or a hit to change things. I'd have a Leicester Dunk and be happy to shift him in and out of my starting line-up.

            Perhaps

But I’m fairly sure I’ll WC around international break - 4 defenders and 5 playable mids season should see me through till then.

He'd become a squad staple. At that price, no need to play every week like a premium

        Makes getting Kane even sweeter.

I think this applies if you're thinking of playing 5ATB. Then, he might just be getting in the way of premium points. Any other formation, he'd be in everyone's team, surely? Not so many decent 4.5 options out there.

How many CS’s will they keep in the first 6 weeks ?

      I’d guess 1 or 2.

        This.

Leicester aren’t going to sit back for sure - they were just about the only team to take the game to City at the end of last season. Nice to see but hardly a recipe for cs

Dunk is not just about CS's. You should know that.

I would be ecstatic with 2/4 CS before I WC.

          True

But how many attacking returns last time? 3 or 4. Odds are you’re just looking at cs early.

I’m on your side though with a 4.5 starter that could make a mockery of squids spent on City defence.

Not bad. Not sure Azpi is that great of an option from the off, would prefer Coleman

After first couple of GWs Kane and a city attacker rotate perfectly for captaincy. Might get on triple pool defence with them on a GW3 WC

I’m starting with Aubameyang and looking to move him to Kane at GW3 to pair with sterling as my big hitters.

It’s very tempting. But Arsenal look such a mess in this transfer window I’ll probably not go there. They need to get their winger in pronto to tempt me

No different to last year. Going forward Arsenal will score goals, especially with those first 2 fixtures.

If they don’t then I just sideways to Kane.

Sort of. But this time they’re looking for an extra attacker - if he comes in late I’m not going there early

They rotate well from the off.

City v Spurs is crying out for a captain on Aguero or Sterling

How ive not seen Dwight Mcneill in any squads here? Best burnley player in spring by far. Could be very good pick this season.

Considering him, but prefer Barkley, Redmond and Tielemans at similar prices.

I only got 6.0 to use for midfielder, he is currently in my team, offcourse my team will chance a lot before season starts but atm mcneil feels like good pick

Who to pick for the first few gameweeks of these? Supposing Zaha stays in CPL...

    A. Tielemans (WOL, che, shu, BOU)
    B. Perez (WOL, che, shu, BOU)
    C. Zaha (EVE, shu, mun, AVL)

Tielemans for me. Stats probably don't show it, but he just has that air of class around him

Squad yes, but I guess that's the point, some will intend him as a starter to spend more on fwds - see Christina above, others just a backup that never plays. If Zappacosta a starter, it starts to become even more interesting...

    A) Pulisic and jimenez
    Or
B)Wilson and zaha ? I think b for the start is better

I cant believe the lack of love that Giroud has on this site.

Main striker for chelsea, not particularly injury prone at 7m.

    Absolute Bargain.

When people know who the main Chelsea striker is they’ll be in lots of teams

There are two in fact, even if you do not consider them.

Tammy, Batshuayi and Chelski have a lot of mids who have a better price tag then Giroud, we have to wait for the preseason information to roll in before jumping on one.
