Fantasy Allsvenskan: Gameweek 16

Gameweek 15 review

The weeks are starting to fly by and we’re now officially half-way through the season! Hope you’re reasonably happy with where you’re ranked and ready to push on for a nice finish – or just enjoy the game for what it is, a nice distraction and/or addition to the usual Fantasy Premier League stuff we’ve all come to love. I, for one, am very glad to have had part of the FFS community with me throughout the first half, and I’m hoping to keep as many of you as possible interested for the remainder of the season. Be sure to leave a comment about any future content besides the review/preview that you’d like to see!

Gameweek 15 didn’t throw us too many curveballs as far as results go, most of it was within the realms of the expected. AIK defeated a lacklustre Elfsborg side by 3-0 and Icelandic forward Kolbeinn Sithorsson (9.3m) was the star of the show, racking up 2 goals, 1 assist and 1 offensive bonus point. One of Daniel Sundgren’s most likely replacements in the right wingback-position, Robert Lundström (5.9m), got 1 assist and 1 offensive bonus point, just barely missing out on the clean sheet since he got subbed off in the 54th minute. One to watch for the future, especially after blank gameweek 18.

Göteborg had a disappointing afternoon in Falkenberg, dropping two points after a 96th-minute equaliser by Carl Johansson (4.6m). Owners of Victor Wernersson (5.7m) will be thanking the fantasy gods as he was substituted just minutes before, banking the clean sheet. Lasse Vibe (8.3m) went off injured early in the first half and Göteborg now have a slight issue with the attack, given that they’ve sold Benjamin Nygren and Patrik Karlsson-Lagemyr (6.7m) is out injured for the rest of the season. Early reports indicate Vibe will miss out on GW16, possibly back for GW17/18.

Häcken had a dominant performance at home to Örebro, with 18 shots (11 on target) to Örebro’s 2 (0 on target). The talking point from that game is Daleho Irandust (9.4m) who came away from it with 1 goal, 2 assists and 2 offensive bonus points. The elusive playmaker has struggled to live up to his price-tag this season, mostly down to fitness. If he’s back and firing, he’ll definitely be an interesting option. Häcken does have an incredibly tricky Europa League qualifier coming up against AZ Alkmaar so his minutes might be a bit managed but if they get knocked out, he’s one to consider for the second half of the season.

The three most popular captains in the top 1k for gameweek 15, courtesy of GoktugErce:

  1. Muamer Tankovic (9.3m); Captained by 25.5%, Effective Ownership of 113.2%, scored 7 points.
  2. Alexander Jeremejeff (9.8m); Captained by 25%, Effective Ownership of 74.3%, scored 6 points.
  3. Giorgi Kharaishvili (8.7m); Captained by 12.2%, Effective Ownership of 53.4%, scored 3 points.

Gameweek 16 preview

Many managers will find that their squads are, as TAT eloquently put it, “lit like a Christmas tree” because of injuries and suspensions to popular players. As I described regarding the suspension tightrope, there are also a lot of players who are just one yellow card away from a suspension. While it shouldn’t dictate your transfers (it’s going to be an issue all year), it is something to keep in mind and a reason to have a decent bench going forward. Blank gameweek 18 is swiftly approaching and with limited transfers, you’ll need to plan if you want to get 11 players out with no AIK, Norrköping, Malmö or Sundsvall.

Gameweek 16 sees AIK face Helsingborg at home, a Helsingborg side that in GW15 lost goalkeeper Kalle Joelsson (4.2m) to injury. He’s going to have to get surgery on his knee and will be out for a while, possibly back later in the season. With regular first-choice keeper Pär Hansson (4.3m) still out that means they will probably have to get someone new in, but until they do that, the third choice keeper Ian Petterson (4.0m) is going to have to step in. He is however just 16 years old (!), and away to AIK might not be an ideal first game… Rumours state that ex-Manchester United backup keeper Anders Lindegaard is being linked with a move to Helsingborg. AIK pose the question to us “how much do we really care about blank gameweek 18?”, as their fixtures surrounding the blank are great with Helsingborg (H), Sirius (a), Blank, AFC Eskilstuna (a) and Kalmar (H). The extra game will be a huge factor for most, but for the lucky few that’s not riddled with blankers, suspensions and injuries, maybe a punt or two could pay off…

Göteborg has a very nice home-fixture with AFC Eskilstuna coming to visit. Without Lasse Vibe, it will be up to Giorgi Kharaishvili (8,7m) and Robin Söder (7.4m) to put them to the sword, while Victor Wernersson will be looking for yet another clean sheet. Malmö plays at home to Sirius and should be able to clinch another three-pointer, owners of Arnor Invi Traustason (8.7m) will have to get him out soon as he’s looking at a spell on the side-lines due to an injury sustained against Djurgården. Keep track of line-ups, minutes and injuries for Malmö and Norrköping as they both play in Europa League qualifiers on Thursday night.

A gung-ho Hammarby side (9-4 goal difference in the last two GWs) will try to keep the positive vibes going at home to Elfsborg. Alexander Kačaniklić (8.4m) and Muamer Tankovic are both good options and it will be interesting to see how many minutes new striker-signing Aron Johansson (9.0m) will be getting in this game, and the ones to come. You’d expect him to be eased into it given how little he has played in the last couple of years, so Nikola Djurdjic (10.0m) could start up top now that Vidar Örn Kjartansson has returned to Rostov, rather than as support striker/midfielder that he’s mostly been utilised as this year. For Elfsborg, Pawel Cibicki’s loan deal has expired and he’s now back at Leeds.

GW16 also sees the cup begin and assuming you weren’t one of the unlucky 886 (out of a total 33 654 fantasy managers), you will have qualified so no need to worry just yet! The cup will work like the FPL cup and once most of the dead teams are knocked out, it will start becoming an interesting side-game to keep track of.

Players to target

Daleho Irandust (9.5m) looked electric against Örebro and he has a high ceiling, away to Sundsvall who’s sold keeper William Eskelinen (assuming he starts, with their important qualifiers against AZ Alkmaar coming up), he looks an intriguing prospect. With the attacking potential around him, this is a strong Anders Christiansen (10.0m) challenger for the second half of the season. Also consider Ahmed Yasin (8.5) who’s now back from his three-game suspension.

Alexander Kačaniklić is, like last week, backed for more attacking returns. He’s now on 3 goals and 3 assists from the last 2 GWs and Hammarby continue to have a good schedule, along with no blank. At the time of writing, he’s still just in 6.3% of the squads and another haul could see those numbers sky-rocket.

Captaincy thoughts

Last weeks captaincy shouts find themselves yet again in the recommended category, thanks to form and fixtures. Muamer Tankovic has Elfsborg at home and given he’s EO is over 100% most weeks in the top 1k, he’s probably going to be a popular choice this week again (and for good reasons). Chasers might be tempted by a rouge Kačaniklić captaincy punt and both could do well this GW.

Alexander Jeremejeff will be fancying his chances of continuing the impressive run of form he’s in away to Sundsvall. Meanwhile, Giorgi Kharaishvili failed to make a mark against Falkenberg but will still be backed to deliver something at home to AFC Eskilstuna. Finally, bonus point darling Anders Christiansen plays at home to Sirius and “AC” is on five goals from his last five home games… Rotation shouldn’t be an issue but keep an eye out for his minutes in the Europa League qualifiers.

That’s that for this week, how many players do you have with a flag going into GW16?

Are you up against a “dead” team in the cup?

Who will be your captain this week?

Don’t forget to leave a comment about any future content besides the review/preview that you’d like to see, and best of luck to you in GW16!

Meltens

    Great article!

I had in my head that there weren't games this weekend (like Eliteserien).

I'm looking pretty solid but captaincy is a tough call

Cheers! Yeah, but there are at least some decent options this week, at Malmö and Hammarby in particular.

Great article. Thanks for doing this! I love the previews like this...... keep them coming please!

Transferred out two "flags", still have two.... armband is on Tankovic, but I am tempted to gamble on Irandust! My cup opponent is alive and kicking lol

      Thanks mate! 🙂
I think Irandust is a gamble enough in himself, not sure I'd captain him this week. I did bring him in thought.
Tankovic/Kaca looks solid for captaincy, or AC!

Thanks for another great article Meltens, and for all the replies and comments that I very much appriciate! I havn't been able to contribute much myself lately, but I will try to find time to do that more in the future.

I did my free transfer midweek, Djurdjic in for Tarik, just in time to avoid the price rise on Djurdjuc. I will have an extremly strong team this GW, that could hopefully make up for the 9 spots i dropped last week. Benching headache and captaincy headache, but have settled on Tankovic as he's the most consistent one, Hammarby are scoring for fun at home and Elfsborg can't defend, attack or play football at the moment. It was between him, AC and Khariashvili, who disappointed as captain last GW. In the end, the stats made the decision for me. Hammarby and Malmö are equally free scoring at home, but Elfsborg have conceded 18 away and Sirius 5.

Was able to stick with my transfer plan this week, but my future plans was disrupted by the injury to Joelsson, as I now have to find a playing keeper for GW18. Have to do that sensible move despite being fed with Ring and drooling after Kacaniklic and Irandust. Might save my transfer next GW to bring in Irandust and Vaiho for Joelsson and AC for GW18. I figure that since I'm likely to wildcard soon after GW18, I could always get AC back in later.

      Cheers! 🙂

Tankovic will probably be captained by many and looks a solid shout, again. Only worry I have as a Hammarby-supporter is bigger clubs starting to get interested, hopefully he stays for the rest of the season at least.

Yeah Ring has been very annoying lately and back to his old self I'm afraid. With the blank coming up I haven't been able to deal with him yet but as soon as that's over, unless he starts showing a real upturn again, he's out!

Did Eskelinen → Anestis and Jeppe Andersen → Kacaniklic which should be enough for me to field a full XI this week

Having actually watched highlights of the last couple Kacaniklic looks just as good as Tankovic and exciting as he was for Fulham back in the day. Also need differentials and players who won't get sold/suspended as soon as I bring them in

Can any Swedes enlighten me as to what is going on in this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oTbYLEEzT1A

Kacaniklic has been very good last two games, hoping this is just the beginning!

Haha that’s a parody of the different supporter groups for all the Allsvenskan clubs, some good stuff there albeit a bit over the top. Lots of wordplay-jokes from Gothenburg supporters, beertalk from Hammarby, champagne from Djurgården etc. as well as mocking the different dialects from all over Sweden. Love the part at the end when they’re about to fight and a West Ham supporter joins in, making everybody scatter in fear!

Nice one Meltens. Sold Thern for Irandust. Probably captain Tankovic or Djurdjic.
Sod's law on Joelsson - another to fix.

Nice, another Irandust backer! Hope he gets a nice 70+ mins, should be able to do some damage.
Joelsson will stay for me as I have Abrahamsson but I know many have Linnér/Dahlin/Petterson.

      Mets - Bengtsson - Danielsson - Wernersson - Ericcson

Can't believe I'm saying this, but gonna play 5 at the back... again, haha. I've started climbing the ranks ever since shifting focus and funds to defence, just like last season. No less than 8 green arrows in the last 9 gameweeks, going from 19K to 1.7K.

Let's hope I can keep this up. My team is already looking good for GW18 as well. 🙂

Looks like 4 solid clean sheet this GW, and the usual bonus from Bengtsson, Danielsson and Wernersson, so expect more greene arrows 🙂

Karlsson missing out for AIK again against Helsingborg. Meanwhile, Helsingborg have confirmed that new signing Anders Lindegaard will start the game and Alhaji Gero is also expected to feature.

Elfsborg have signed Alex Portillo but thats perhaps not intresting from a fantasy point of view (hardy intresting from a fans point of view eighter to be honest) 😉

Is it folish to use ”park the bus” with only four defenders? Or is it OK if the players have ”good” fixturers? Thanks

I wouldn't say foolish, that's a bit harsh, but I wouldn't recommend it. It's such a powerful chip that could give your season a massiv boost, and many (myself included) even used a wildcard to prepare for it. If you want to play it this GW it would possibly be worth a -4 hit to field 5 defenders. Otherwise, I'd recommend you to save it, use your wildcard in GW19 and then play PTB in GW20.

I was thinking this is a good week to roll the FT before the blanks, but not so sure after Eric Larsson's illness. I'm still going to bank it and hope that he plays and if not Jarl will come right in. Just scared about Wernersson this week, but apart from that, the team is looking pretty good.

Going with Tankovic myself, hoping to get back inside top 200 after a disastrous five week period. Good luck everyone and thanks as always, Meltens!

Worth taking out Karl Larson for a hit? I have to play him as one of my defenders this GW – unless I transfer in someone else.

Pretty poor CS odds (15/2 or 12%) but don't think so for a hit

Not worth it for a hit IMO. Sirius had theire best game of the season against Helsingborg, and are much, much more solid away with only 5 goals conceded from 7 games.

That's wise! I expect them to conced at least 1-2 goals, but if he can pick up some bonus you'll still be good for 3-4 points.

A wiped out clean sheet for AIK would probably be my most satisfying fantasy moment 2019. Almost as good as when my mate used Free hit in BGW in FPL to get in 3 West Ham defenders and they conceded 3 against Huddlesfield 🙂

I'm in the same boat regarding Rogic. He contributed 8 goals and 3 assists, which puts him top for goal involvement (55%) in the entire Swedish league. No player is more important to his respective team than Rogic to Orebro. The famous talisman theory.

The reason I didn't pull the trigger was because I'd only be swapping suspended Andersen out for Rogic to bench him anyway as I already had 11 starters with good fixtures and playing 5 at the back. Needless to say he'll definitely be coming in now though.

The reason I didn't do it is I didn't want to bench either of Ring or Jordan Larsson, but I had a feeling Rogic would haul big time and I did contemplate benching Ring.

Wow, and I thought last week was rock bottom...this just could't get any worse! Another red arrow, a massive one this time, after missing out on another AIK clean sheet. Abrahamsson penalty save and clean sheet, Jeremejeff wasteful and Toivio stuck on my bench just in time for a clean sheet and his first defensive bonus points since the 90's. To put icing on the cake, I'm more or less out of the cup against a guy ranked 6000 with a triple Häcken defence. GW could still be saved but it would take something like a doubble own goal from Wernersson and a Franz Brorsson hattrick...

Meltens, for next week's article, could you shed some light on AIK's defence?

What does their regular back three/five look like nowadays? They still have good fixtures ahead, but which defender lasts over 60 minutes and is rotation proof? Can Karol Mets still be trusted to start in Allsvenskan with more CL qualifiers in the mix?

I could give it a try definitely, but at the moment with the qualifiers, it will mostly be speculation as to what the regular choice is. When all are fit, from what I’ve gathered, first choice appears to be a back three of Granli - Karlsson - Mets (with Dimitriadis rotating in and out). Seems like Granli is favoured now but around the qualifiers, I’d assume they use everyone.

Right wingback is mostly going to be Lundström, but he’s building up fitness that’s why there are those early subs. I think Rashidi mostly plays on the left but maybe someone with greater insight into AIK knows more. Left wing back is Rashidi or Lindkvist, although as we saw today Lindkvist can play CB as well. Salétros also an option, for both sides I think. And Seb Larsson should be able to cover right wingback also, he’s done that at times.

All in all a bit of a nightmare right now but Granli and in particular Lundström are the ones I’ll personally be targeting! I think they’ll continue to rotate as long as they’re in the competition unfortunately.

                +1

Granli is a steal at his price - good for defensive bonus too!

Granli looks a no-brainer really, at that price you can take the odd rotation as well. Just hoping he doesn't fall out of favour again with Norling!

I'll take a little deeper look at AIK's lineup and ask around a bit, work something into the review. Same with Filip Rogic, need to have a look at his performances and prospects!

              https://www.gp.se/sport/fotboll/wernersson-om-skadan-som-tvingade-honom-att-byta-1.16477801
Wernersson playing down him being subbed due to injury, "just a bit stiff in the back, didn't feel 100% so better that someone else came in". When asked about Norrköping on Sunday (next GW) he said: "Yeah I'll play, no problem".

Great week even without going for Rogic!

98 points and not one player scored less than 4!

                Really nice, well done! 🙂

I had a great week as well without Rogic, 106 (-4)!
Can’t remember breaking the centurion in Allsvenskan previously 🙂

Well done to you too! Lots of big scores flying about this week.

I don't like the fixtures next week though.

Yeah I've currently got 5 players in Djurgården-Häcken and 4 in Göteborg-Norrköping, going to need a lot from those games!

                Nice, well done!

Seemed to be another dreadful GW for me, but 50p from four players on monday took my score up to a decent 89p and only a small red arrow. Most of the players around me had better scores, and that late Danielsson goal cost me 7 places.

Not looking forward to next GW! 8 players from two games will make it very difficult to get a decent score, and I'll probably miss out on another AIK clean sheet. Hopefully I can save the transfer to prepare for BGW18.

Wow, this week "Manager of the week" had an absolutely unreal GW. A whopping 158p, 92p from PTB and went from a rank around 4000 to around 500. Nyman 9p on the bench, but he still didn't score more than any of the players he fielded! He also got 60p from his "Två kaptener" chip earlier this season, I should probably consult him the next time I'm about to use a chip.

Lots of action in Allsvenskan right now!

Jordan Larsson (38.2% ownership) not in Norrköping squad for tonights Europa League game, as the club confirms he's about to be sold to a russian club.

AIK have signed defender/midfielder Felix Michel (4.8) from AFC.

Helsingborg confirm that Kalle Joelsson will be out for the season with a knee injury.

Hammarby confirm that Junior is back in training after bring out for 9 months. As I recall, he was a bonus magnet last season, but also contributed with the odd goal and assist.
