Fantasy Allsvenskan Gameweek 20

We’re now moving into the final third of the season and the Allsvenskan table is starting to break into clear segments. 7th placed Norrköping are nine points ahead of 8th placed Örebro, but also 10 points behind Djurgården who tops the charts with 41 points. In between them we’ve got AIK, Malmö, Hammarby, Häcken, and Göteborg. “No mans land” can roughly be categorised as 8th to 10th with Örebro, Östersund, and Elfsborg not really in the relegation fight, but definitely not in the mix for top three either. There are only six points separating 11th placed Helsingborg from bottom dwellers Sundsvall. Wedged in between them we’ve got Sirius, Falkenberg, Kalmar, and AFC Eskilstuna, so expect some teams to possibly fade away (looking at you Sundsvall), while others make one desperate late attempt to stay up.

Gameweek 19 review

Djurgården delivered in a big way as they dominated Sirius and came away from it with a 4-0 victory. Marcus Danielsson (6.1m) got six points but the fullbacks were the ones who really impressed, Aslak Fonn Witry (5.4m) and Elliot Käck (5.9m) both netted a 14-point haul thanks to a clean sheet, two assists and two offensive bonus points. Up front the goals were spread around with Jonathan Ring (8.0m), Fredrik Ulvestad (6.5m), Mohamed Buya Turay (9.6m) and new signing from Östersund Curtis Edwards (8.7m), all getting in on the action.

AIK had an interesting game away to AFC Eskilstuna which ended 4-2 in favour of the travelling black and yellows. After five straight clean sheets, AIK now conceded twice whilst rotating heavily again. As AIK (at the time of writing) still remain in the European qualifiers, we can unfortunately expect to see this trend continue for a while. Arguably, no one is completely safe even if they get knocked out as the squad depth and genuine competition for spots in the starting line-up is quite fierce. Felix Michel (4.8m) got another start in central midfield while Karol Mets (6.5m), Daniel Granli (4.5m) and Robert Lundström (6.0m) all missed out. Nabil Bahoui (9.6m) was brilliant when he came on in the 57th minute, initially playing in midfield but moved up front just a few minutes later when Kolbeinn Sigthorsson (9.2m) got subbed off. He managed to impress in a short time with one assist (fouled for the penalty) and two smartly taken goals.

As usual for the captaincy, most top managers turned to Hammarby against Helsingborg and even though the fireworks were noticeably missing, they still provided us with points. Muamer Tankovic (9.5m) got his customary goal and bonus (one defensive, one offensive) while Alexander Kačaniklić (8.8m) got one goal, one assist and one offensive bonus point as he was tasked with filling in for Nikola Djurdjic (10.4m) in the “number ten”-role. Djurdjic absence was noticeable and led to Imad Khalili (7.0m) getting shunted out wide which greatly reduced his goal-threat without any clear upturn in assist-potential. Aron Jóhannsson (8.9m) took up the role as central striker but failed to make a real mark on the proceedings, though he did register an assist. Just one shot which was blocked and 11 touches overall in 64 minutes (Khalili registered 34 touches, Kačaniklić 42, and Tankovic 55, though they got the full 90’) indicates he’s still a bit rusty, which could be good news for Khalili owners who worry about his spot when Djurdjic comes back next week. Coach Stefan Billborn could of course decide he needs to play Jóhannsson into form, sacrificing Khalili in the process. If Khalili starts rotating too much or (crucially) doesn’t get game-time as a striker, his prospects will swiftly diminish so it’s one to keep track of for those invested in him, myself included.

Here are some gameweek 19 stats, courtesy of GoktugErce;

The three most popular captains in the top 1k:

Muamer Tankovic; Captained by 77.8%, Effective Ownership of 171.1%, scored 9 points.

Giorgi Kharaishvili; Captained by 6.0%, Effective Ownership of 78.9%, scored 7 points.

Alexander Kačaniklić; Captained by 3.8%, Effective Ownership of 61.5%, scored 11 points.

Top 1k average points for the gameweek was 78.1, compared to the overall average of 51 points.

Extra feature this week is a chip usage report of the current top 1k:

754 have played the second Wildcard, 654 have “parked the bus”, 800 have played two captains and 349 have utilised the “attack attack”-chip.

It was also a good week for the “players to target”-segment as both Buya Turay and Robin Söder (7.8m) delivered, though Daleho Irandust (9.5m) blanked at home to Malmö. Söder thus continues his great form, scoring five goals in his last five games.

Gameweek 20 preview

It’s looking like an interesting week to deploy the “park the bus”-chip as there are some very nice fixtures to target. The biggest issue with that is not being able to captain a Hammarby or Malmö attacking player, but the fixtures look very promising for clean sheets with Djurgården-AFC Eskilstuna, Malmö-Falkenberg, AIK-Kalmar, and (if the clean sheet will ever arrive it should be now…) Hammarby-Sundsvall. Norrköping away to Sirius also looks a decent bet for a CS, and it’s not entirely out of the question for Göteborg to nick one as well travelling to Helsingborg. The other side of it is of course that you might be tempted to go with another chip in a more attacking sense, which also shouldn’t be scoffed at.

AIK, Malmö and Norrköping continue their European adventures so keep a close watch on minutes and outcomes on Thursday to make informed decisions on transfers and captaincies.

Deadline day transfers

Big news as Alexander Jeremejeff (10.0m) has been sold by Häcken to German side Dynamo Dresden, meaning a lot of managers will be forced to move him out as well! Gustaf Nilsson (not added) was signed as a replacement, although we could also see Viktor Lundberg (7.2m) or Paulinho (11.8m) slot in up top to fill the void. The latter is however suspended against Örebro for reaching six yellow cards and has been struggling this season to live up to his price-tag.

Right-back Felix Beijmo (not added) signed a loan-deal for Malmö from Werder Bremen, increasing competition and squad depth. By doing so he also ruffled a few feathers in the Djurgården community, as he was a fan-favourite quite recently between 2017-2018 before moving abroad. Helping Malmö in the fight for the league title won’t be hugely popular amongst the Djurgården faithful.

Djurgården in turn finally ended the “will they won’t they” transfer-saga of signing striker Emir Kujovic (not added) which will increase competition up front and add more firepower to an attack that’s at times looked a bit lacklustre. He won’t start immediately though as he’s not played much since 2017/2018 and he also needs to relocate his family from Germany to Sweden. Back in 2015 while playing for Norrköping, he won the golden boot with 21 goals and 5 assists in 29 games. All in all, he managed 43 goals and 12 assists in 71 games for Norrköping and once settled at Djurgården, will be one to keep a close watch on.

Players to target

Elliot Käck had another impressive display where he was very involved in chance creation for Djurgården, a trend that doesn’t look like stopping anytime soon. At home to AFC Eskilstuna could quite reasonably be another haul, though you should also be aware that Djurgården then has two of the worst back to back fixtures you could possibly have, with away-games to Malmö and AIK before it gets better again with Helsingborg (H), Sundsvall (a), and Falkenberg (H). Is he a better option than Danielsson and Witry? The jury’s still out on that one. Personally, I’m looking at a treble up and parking the bus this week!

Nabil Bahoui has qualities that (to use a tired phrase) goes way beyond this league. Just where he fits into the team on a regular basis is anyone’s guess but as I stated when they signed him – he has 36 goals and 29 assists in 90 games for AIK. He’s going to keep being eased into it, but this is a superb player who will (from time to time if nothing else), be OOP as a striker for AIK… The question shouldn’t be if, but when you get him in. Monitor AIK players for fitness, minutes etc. on Thursday and keep in mind that while Kalmar at home is a good fixture, AIK then has a seemingly tricky run with Östersund (a), Djurgården (H), Häcken (a), Hammarby (a), and Göteborg (H). Still a huge differential, he could move to the template in a similar fashion as Kačaniklić has in recent weeks. To pour some water on my own lavishly created hype-fire though, his minutes are obviously still being managed, and he will be needed in Europe as well – keep that in mind. Daleho Irandust and “AC” also shouldn’t be so swiftly dismissed and with Kačaniklić and Tankovic along with our expensive strikers, the budget might start feeling increasingly tight. Timing will be key with this one.

Captaincy thoughts

Rouge shout would be one of the Djurgården fullbacks but the sensible choice is either a Hammarby player (Tankovic, Kačaniklić or the returning Djurdjic) or Malmö’s dynamic midfielder and bonus-point darling Anders Christiansen (10.1m). Hammarby-Sundvall and Malmö-Falkenberg just scream captaincy so if you’re not parking the bus, that’s definitely where I’d go.

As always, best of luck to you this gameweek and if you want to chat about fantasy football either comment here below or hit me up @FF_Meltens on Twitter!

GW20 in Fantasy Allsvenskan approaches and many managers are scrambling to get rid of Jeremejeff who’s now left Häcken for Dynamo Dresden. The fixtures looks interesting for a chip play, is this something you’re considering doing?
Who are you replacing Jeremejeff with? Captain this week?

Since I'm planning on wildcarding next week, I'll take a one week punt on a Malmö attacker this GW. With Antonsson injuried the options are between Rosenberg and Molins, leaning towards Rosenberg. I have my reservations on his fitness since he's almost 37 and played 80+ minutes last night. He has however played 90 minutes in every home game this season, mostly being rotated away on artificial grass. He could also be back on penalties after Molins miss last GW. Molins feels slightly more involved, but rarelt playes a full game.

      Captain is Tankovic as usual.

Framåt is activated with a front line of Djuric, Kharaisvilli, and Turay. Hammarby is still in form, hope it last but better go for it now. Sundsvall, Helsingborg, and Eskilstuna look promising from attacking pow.

Nice! Looks a great week to play that chip as well with that frontline.
If the games go as we think they will, could be some big scores flying about this GW.

      Dahlin
      Witry Dimitriadis Danielsson Wernersson
      Ring Tankovic Kacaniklic
      Djurdic Islamovic Kharaishvili

      Brattberg Lauritsen Larsson Jarl

Not sure whether to play 2 captains on 2 Hammarby boys, or even PTB and play Lauritsen too.

      What do you reckon?

All chips and Second Wildcard available.

I think there's a strong case to be made for you benching Islamovic and parking the bus this week! I'll be doing that with a similar setup.
If you're not feeling that, a double captaincy with two of the Hammarby lads should yield points as well 🙂

So I went for PTB and put Islamovic on the bench.

Looks like I’m surviving another round in the cup after the opponent also did PTB, but mine was slightly better.

Nice! I have Krogh Gersson who started on the bench unfortunately (was always a risk). Second clean sheet wipe in a row for AIK, Europe and rotation must be playing a big part.

Hi Meltens, great read again thanks, I’ve played my WC and I’ll line up like this for GW 20.

    Abrahamsson (Brattberg)

    Danielsson Kack Witry Wernersson (Hodzic)

Tankovic (C) Kacaniklic (VC) Christiansen Rogic (Jake Larsson)

    Djurdjic Kharaishvili (Offia)

That’s all my Chips played, sitting on 572 OR so not sure if I’ll be able to beat last season’s finish of 409 OR as there are plenty of Chips still to be played.

Good luck for this week, cheers.

      Looks nice!

Will play my wildcard next week and it looks very similar. Not sure about the Djurgården triple up in defence with trips to Malmö and AIK to follow, but they're always good for bonus. Doubble Örebro is a good punt for theire nice upcoming upcoming!

      Good luck!

Cheers Bob, yes the triple up at the back is a longer term punt and it's not beyond them to get one clean sheet from those two tricky away matches at Malmo and Aik. And I don't think too many others will go that route so I'm gambling a bit but it's getting to that time of the season for a few risks especially as I've played all my Chips.

Time will tell Bob and good luck too.

Very nice, looks like a really solid squad! I think I'll also roll with triple Djurgården defs for a while and see how it turns out. All of them have some attacking intent as well! I'm at 545 OR so we're very close 🙂

I will pray for an Eskilstuna goal against Djurgarden as I saw that a lot of people did a triple-up in Djurgarden defence, and if they gonna play the PTB, oooh maaan...

Yeah, I probably will too despite having Vaiho and Witry. It's always wierd when you have to cheer for your own players to fail just because so many other will get even more points from them.

    Another great article Meltens!

I've played my 2FT to get Irandust & AC in,

    Abrahamsson

    Dimitriadis Witry Danielsson Wernersson

Kacaniclik (c) AC Ring Tankovic Irandust

    Kharanshivili

OR 483 here... It's so tough to make big moves at the top!

Looks like a superb squad going into this GW, you've even kept faith in Ring which I've jettisoned (perhaps foolishly...).
It is tough to make up ground as long as Hammarby keeps scoring and Djurgården/AIK keeps cleaning but there will be times soon to move quickly for players that are not in the template 🙂

Ring has traditionally been a player who goes on a scoring streak, then when you bring him in he goes completely off the boil. I got him during his last good run, and kept him because of his good fixtures. Now he seems to be on a new streak, so my hope is that he'll keep it up for this GW and then switches off again since I'm taking him out on wildcard next week.

I think its easy to get a bit carried away with Djurgården after theire thrashing of Sirius. Sirius are in poor form and played 85 minutes with 10 men. Previous to that game, Djurgården had scored 1,2,1,1,1 goals in theire last 5 games. Buya and Ring could still be good picks of course, but I think there's much more value in theire defence.

    Cheers Meltens. Helpful as always!

Last week my WC worked nicely with 87 points. This week it's finally PTB time with:

    Linner
    Kack - Witry - Danielsson - Mets - Karlsson
    Tankovic - AC - Kacaniklic
    Djurdjic - Kharaishvili

It's a pretty template squad but I am happy with it. I might shift Karlsson to Dimitriadis for safety with my PTB but not sure if it is worth it.

Any suggestions regarding the defensive line?

Not sure if it's worth it to transfer Panos in tbh. I think it looks great, I've got treble Djurgården def as well but Wernersson + Krogh Gersson instead of AIK defenders. Could still make a move for someone but not sure it's that much of an upgrade.

  6. Bob Sacamano

Your team looks superb! I do however think It's very risky to play PTB with 2 AIK defenders in an easy home game sandwiched in between two extemly imporant Europa League games. Guessing the line-up is more difficult than any Pep-roulette we've seen, and against Kalmar they could probably even play theire U18 defence and still keep a clean sheet. Hope for your sake that both of them starts.

Any plans for the upcoming fixtures? Djurgården hade two difficult away games coming up, and AIK's fixtures are taking a major turn for the worse now.

Cheers! I'm probably moving back to 4-4-2 after this week as I don't think it is plausible to have triple defenders from not only one but two teams. I'm keeping a close eye on Bahoui as well, he looks fantastic!

Not much itb so think I'll roll the FT. Wernersson sub if Mets doesn't start. Still pondering Vaiho vs Dahlin. Wouldn't mind replacing Rogic, but iks/AFC/SUN after this gw.

      Vaiho
      Mets Lauritsen Sandberg
      Tankovic(k) Irandust Rogic Nalic

I'm assuming you mean Irandust to Bahoui? I'd definitely not do it for a hit and given AIK has two incredibly important games against Celtic coming up, I think waiting until that's sorted isn't the worst idea 🙂 Irandust also have decent fixtures next three with Örebro (a), AFC Eskilstuna (a), and Falkenberg (H).

Djurgården-AFC tonight will be the decisive game for my fantasy season. I have finally broken into the top 10, but chips are flying all over the place with lots of people eighter playing PTB with triple Djurgården defence or "Attack!" with Buya and Khariashvili left. A goal from AFC and a blank from Buya/Khariashvili would be criucial, otherwise I'm likely to see the biggest red arrow in months.

Having a good GW so far with 55p and Vaiho, Witry, Ring and Khariashvili left, but can only hope for points from Ring. What's worrying though is that I'm completely clueless on what to do now. Was all set to play my Wildcard this GW, but potential injuries to Toivio, AC and Rogic, a dip in form from Irandust and the rise of Bahoui is making me reconcider that. My team still looks pretty good for next GW so a Wildcard could be a waste at this time. Hope the games tonight/thursday will give me more answers.

I hope that you will be right and Djurgarden will concede a goal but I'm not with you in the Buya/Kharaishvili blank as I played ''Attack!'' and they are mine. I have read it today that Hodzic is ill, so the not too solid Eskilstuna defence will be more fragile than ever and Buya could gain a big out of this.

Otherwise I don't know either that how can I upgrade my squad as the teams what I'm chasing are basically the same, so I need a few differential players to get ahead of them.

                  How did you end up?

                  The Djurgården defence came through.

The outcome of last nights games were about the worst possible for me, with so many players using "Attack" with Buya and Khariashvili or PTB with triple Djurgården defence. However, I still only dropped 4 places which I'm very pleased with given that 33,5% of top 1K used a chip this GW. There have opened up a small gap up to the top 10 though, and the people chasing are getting closer. Managed to keep my lead in the ML, but only by a single point. Fortunatly, we've all played all our chips now so it's a fair race for the win now.

83p and through in the cup, that's very pleasing. Now concidering whether I should play my wildcard or not this GW. Have a decent plan that will give me good coverage for the next 5-6 gameweeks, it does however involve 3-4 planned substitutions which is never good to have since it's almost impossible to make long term plans in a game like this.

117 all out for the weekend.

Still back at 1814 OR with all but PTB left to play. Through to the next round of the cup.

Tough to navigate MFF v DIF. Would love a Häcken boy but unsure as to whom.

Very tricky game indeed, and the fact that Djurgården play AIK the week after doesn't help. I have a plan for a wildcard this GW which would involve a Häcken triple-up and not playing any Djurgården players the next 2 games. Would then go back to triple Djurgården, if I could stick to the plan.

Häcken players are rather difficult to pick since they tend to spread the points. In defence I prefer Toivio if fit, otherwise Lindgren since they are safe from rotation. In midfield Irandust keeps frustrating, but I'm still looking at getting him. In attack, Viktor Lundberg could be good value if he can keep his spot.

I’m with you on this one. I’m thinking WC this week, but really like the momentum my team has.

Häcken have the fixtures but not the players. Jeremejeff would’ve been permacaptain over the next few.

Think I will ditch Ring but keep Witry and Danielsson

Exactly my thought. My team is performing so well at the moment, that it feels stupid to change anything. But there is no room for being sentimental in this game, and keeping players for some sort of gratitude is plain stupid. I did that with my first Wildcard, when I had brought in Cibicki as a short term punt. He performed so well that I felt obligated to keep him in my Wildcard team. He returned 2 x 10p before the wildcard, but averadged only 2p per game after that.

I still think Häcken looks good, and theire fixtures are superb short term and good long term. If I decide to wildcard I'll get Lindgren and Irandust and have triple Häcken for the next two games, then switch Lindgren to Käck. Will also ditch Ring, but plan to get him back in a few weeks as well. Keeping Witry and Danielsson sounds like a good plan.

Congrats on your great score this week btw!

Thanks! Long way I get to you. Well done on getting to top 15!

I’m looking to Toivio soon. Will Paulinho come back into the fold? Irandust is so out of form so not sold.

I will likely use my 1 xfer this week.

                        Dahlin
                        Wernersson Lauritsen Witry
                        Tankovic (c) Larsson Kacaniklic
                        Djurdic Kharaishvili

                        4.0 Danielsson Jarl

So it’s Islamovic Ring or Dimitriadis who could be sold. 1 needs to play. £1m itb.

                        Lundberg the man? Play Dimi.

                          Looks really nice!

I think that if you don't sell Ring this GW, you might as well keep him since the fixtures looks much better again after Malmö and AIK. Also, I'd prefer to get rid of Islamovic or Dimitriadis instead. AIK are still in Europe for another week or so, and the fixtures after that are awful. Still a rotation risk there as well. Perhaps do Islamovic to Lundberg this GW, and Panos to Toivio next? That would gice Toivio another week to recover (if he is infact injuried). Not completely sure that Lundberg is nailed on to play though. Paulinho is a big no for me. Irandust got lots of potential but is out of form like you say. I'm still ready to take a gamble there.

Also, I'd start Danielsson over Witry, In a game like this, I could almost guarantee 2 defensive bonus points on Danielsson, while Witry probably wont attack as much as he's done in recent games.

Thanks for the advice! I agree with Witry v Danielsson.

Annoying that I won’t get Häcken cleanie points this week, but would be for a hit and this voided.
