Fantasy Allsvenskan Gameweek 25

We’ve just closed the books on Gameweek 24 and already we have a new GW kicking off on Tuesday, deadline is at 17.00 CET. With such a swift turnaround, active management is needed or you might get caught out!

Gameweek 24 review

Without lingering too long on the past now that GW25 is just around the corner, the big game of the week was undeniably the Stockholm derby between Hammarby and AIK. There were ahead of the game some question marks regarding Hammarby’s ability to both score and keep AIK out. Usually, it seems these games tend to end up 1-0 in favour of AIK who’ve been experts at shutting Djurgården and Hammarby down in recent years. While they managed to do that with Djurgården, turns out Hammarby’s attack was just too potent on the day. Bit part player this year but still a pretty big signing when he arrived in 2018, Vladimir Rodic (8.1m) sure has been taking his chances when other players have been injured and suspended. Two goals against AIK, and 1 goal 1 assist at home to Göteborg in GW23. Before you think about drafting him in this week though, he’s suspended for the game against Sirius, a fate shared by Alexander Kačaniklić (8.6m). Nikola Djurdjic (10.3m) started as the spearhead in the absence of both Aron Jóhannsson (8.5m) and Imad Khalili (6.7m) but failed to capitalise much on the move up front, his one shot on target being the only one he was able to let loose all game.

For AIK this game was the fifth of their last six games in which they’ve failed to keep a clean sheet, worrying stats for managers who have bought into their defence, especially with Djurgården, Malmö and Norrköping all delivering on that front. Kolbeinn Sigthorsson (9.0m) got himself suspended for the game against Göteborg and overall struggled, not registering a single shot from his 63 minutes played after replacing the injured Chinedu Obasi (8.5m). Henok Goitom (9.7m) had a goal ruled out and though he was very involved in the build-up in general, he only registered one shot that was blocked. Nabil Bahoui (9.6m) on the other hand fired off three shots (one on target) and got a well-deserved assist, demonstrating once again that Rikard Norling would do best in playing him as often and as high up the pitch as possible. Could be he gets the nod again up top along with Goitom in GW25…

Elsewhere we saw Norrköping deliver on their potential at the start of the brilliant fixture-run, with Sead Haksabanovic (9.0m) back to delivering again. Norrköping keeper Isak Petterson (6.0m) and his backline got another clean sheet, making it seven from their last eight games. Djurgården steams on with striker Emir Kujovic (9.6m) threatening to rip up the template with his three goals and two assists in the last two games (with a combined 85 minutes played). Aslak Fonn Witry (5.4m) and his defensive colleagues failed to keep another clean sheet, yet he himself was at his attacking best – getting one goal and one assist to register another double-digit haul, his sixth of the season. For Kalmar Nils Fröling (5.7m) got his rest but should play on Tuesday, the manager stating the tight schedule was the reason he didn’t start. For Malmö who beat Elfsborg 3-0, the worry is primarily around the state of Anders Christiansen (10.0m) who is an injury doubt ahead of Thursday’s derby against Helsingborg along with Eric Larsson (6.6m). The latest news indicates that Larsson should be fine and that AC has a swollen knee, which isn’t a big issue bar the short turnaround. Hard to say right now whether or not he starts on the bench or on the pitch.

Finally, here are some gameweek 24 stats, credit to poohdini;

The three most popular captains in the top 1k were:

Sead Haksabanovic; Captained by 47.3%, Effective Ownership of 111.7%, scored 11 points.

Robin Söder; Captained by 10.2%, Effective Ownership of 67.9%, scored 6 points.

Muamer Tankovic; Captained by 7.1%, Effective Ownership of 97.5%, scored 2 points.

Gameweek 25 preview

As mentioned, GW25 is already upon us with a Tuesday deadline at 17.00 CET! GW26 then kicks off on Sunday, at 13.00 CET. It’s potentially a big “chip-week” with plenty of favourable fixtures lining up! Djurgården-Falkenberg, Häcken-Elfsborg, Norrköping-AFC Eskilstuna, Malmö-Helsingborg (though it’s still a derby so expect Helsingborg to not go down without a fight), Sirius-Hammarby, and to a lesser extent, Kalmar-Sundsvall. AIK-Göteborg is a crucial game for AIK to recover after the derby loss, I think there’s a good chance Nabil Bahoui gets to play at least a part of the game as a striker, which is a very intriguing proposition.

If you still have a chip, now could be a good time to throw it out there and gain an advantage on the rest of us…

Players to target

Emir Kujovic – will he start? Does it even matter…? Of course it does, but who can deny his blistering form right now with three goals and two assists in just 85 minutes? How he lines up alongside (or instead of) Mohamed Buya Turay (9.7m) remains to be seen, but it’s becoming hard to ignore how much of an upgrade he seems to be for this squad. Owned by just 3.3% of all managers at the time of writing.

It’s time to start getting some proper differentials and Nabil Bahoui is only owned by 2.9%. Much like Kujovic, he has the potential to make or break your season at this late stage. Playing time and position is still a bit doubtful but Rikard Norling has a devastating weapon at his disposal, it would be strange not to use it.

Darijan Bojanic is coming into a nice bit of form as the season draws to a close, on most set-pieces and very involved in the build-up. With Kačaniklić suspended for the game against Sirius, could Bojanic step up and be in the points yet again?

Captaincy thoughts

Sead Haksabanovic faces AFC Eskilstuna at home and he is swiftly racking up the points, reaching double-digits in three of his last five games. Barring rotation due to the tight schedule, there are few reasons for not trusting Haksabanovic with the captaincy again. Markus Rosenberg (10.5m) should get a start at home to Helsingborg and pretty much always delivers at home. Any Djurgården defender or Buya/Kujovic are also interesting options as they face a Falkenberg side that has only scored two goals in their five last games away from home, and they’ve only kept on CS away all season (against AFC Eskilstuna in GW8).

As always, good luck this gameweek and if you want to chat about fantasy football either comment here below, or hit me up @FF_Meltens on Twitter!

Great recap and awesome preview Meltens, thanks.

It's hard to look past Haksabanovic for the captaincy this week.

I can only agree that you're doing an amazing job Meltens! You're articles are always much appriciated.

Got a decent 67p score, but more importantly I miraculously managed to go go through in the cup despite facing a guy playing PTB. Only 64 teams left if I've counted it correctly, but I now face a really strong oppontent so it will take something special for me to win this round.

A few problems this GW, with AC an injury doubt and Kacaniklic suspended. My patience with Kacaniklic has certainly not been rewarding so far, but I still belive he could be a great differentail for the run-in, so I'm likely to keep him for the season. Except for the blank against Norrköping, Hammarby have scored at least 2 goals in each of theire last 11 games, so doubble Hammarby attack will hopefully still be the way to go. If they could score twice past AIK, then games against Djurgården and Malmö might not be as bad after all.

Very hesitant on what to do with my transfer this week. Was all set on Da Graca to Manns, but not sure now. Kalmar have excellent fixtures, but I don't know how nailed on he is, and with players suspended, injuried and benched, it could be stupid to take out a starting player like Da Graca for a more doubtful Manns. I could save my transfer and play Karlsson away to Häcken, but then I'm not sure what to do with my 2ft next GW. The players I'm currently looking at is Mets and Bahoui but not until GW27, and I'm reluctant to lose any of my current players, so it might be Manns after all.

    Best of luck to everyone!

Took a closer look at my cup opponent and realized that he still has PTB and have triple Djurgården and doubble Norrköping defence this GW, any chance he wont play it? 😉

I would be careful when it comes to Manns. Piotr Johansson is on his way back from injury, and when he is passed fit I can't imagine that Manns will manage to keep his starting spot.

Kalmar is very generous when it comes to giving away updates on injured players. Last big injury update was posted two days ago.

Thanks a lot Kenny! Wasn't aware of that at all, just thought that he was competing with Emin Nouri who's recently back from injury. With both Nouri and Johansson competing, there's just too much of a risk getting Manns, even though the fixtures are great. The article also claims that Herrem is on his way back, which also makes Ahl-Holmström an uncertain choice, as I was looking at him as a budget pick.

That certainly leaves me with a bit of a headache. No transfers would mean I'd have to play Karlsson away to Häcken, and if AC is out my only sub is Da Graca against AIK away. Not necessarily the worst pick, I can't see AIK scoring more than 1-2 goals and he's pretty good for bonus, so he could perhaps give 3-4p. The problem is that the only players I'm willing to lose at this point is Offia or Da Graca, both 4.3, but with only 0.1 ITB the options are extremly limited. Perhaps best to roll the transfer after all.

Can't thank you enough Kenny! Decided to stay clear of Manns and roll my FT, which gave me a Jesper Karlsson 9p and 2ft instead of a Jesper Manns 1p, only 1ft and probably being stuck with a rotation risk like Manns for the rest of the season.

      Thanks a lot! 🙂

Nice job staying in the cup, it's an uphill battle now with surely a few players having held on to their chips for the final GWs.

I think a fit Kacaniklic with no great risk of a suspension for the final GWs will do you well, Örebro at home up next week!
I'll try to hold the transfer this week as my team is alright, could be gold having 2 FTs for unplanned injuries/suspensions midweek.

Thanks! I'm the highest ranked team left in the cup, and my opponent is the 9th highest ranked team left, so I guess I was a but unfortunate with the draw this time. My opponent is only about 70p behind be in the OR, so I should probably be happy if he's still behind me after this GW.

I have watched the team around me and the 3 teams closest above me have all gone -4p or -8p this week. Bizzarrely, the one going -8p already had a superb team for this GW, so it will be interesting to see what's happened there. I'll probably roll my transfer now and hope for the best. That will give me a few more days to figure out my next move.

Mid-week games are always a lottery anyway, not sure who's going to get rotated just to preserve energy.
I'm rooting for you in the cup, would love it for FFS users to "win the double"! We've currently got OR2, 5, 7 and 10 covered in the top 10 in the world and quite a few languishing around that mark. Where are you at? 🙂

My OR is 20 right now, Was up to 13th at highest but then the chips started flying in the top so I dropped a few places. At this stage, 15th is probably the best I could aim for, although I'd defenitly settle for a top 20 spot and a win in the local ML.

Very nice OR! Still not at all impossible for you to reach top 10 either. I'm at 149, aiming for top 50 but would gladly take a top 100 spot 🙂 Had a rough start but since GW7 it's been pretty smooth sailing. Knocked out of the cup very early doors but that's pretty standard for me haha

Sorry didn't realise it was another new article. To echo thoughts above, great stuff Meltens.
Have 2FT to fix things if need be - currently undecided on getting a cheapo mid/fwd to improve fwd/mid. e.g. Kujovic has good form but not the best final 5 fixtures. But does that matter really. Need to think on it.

Kujovic is absolute class for this level, as long as he gets the minutes he will score against most opponents in my opinion. Even if he get 20 minutes vs Falkenberg that should be enough! Nils Fröling I still have faith in as a budget option, seems from what the coach is saying he only got rested because of the tight schedule and they have some good fixtures left!

All depends on how the rest of your team looks, and how much you have to spend. I'd probably look at a cheaper option like Fröling or Karlsson and use the funds to upgrade a midfielder next GW.

I'm going Haksabanovic most likely, unless I have a late change of heart and decide to back a Djurgården player. Tankovic is always interesting but from watching the games I feel he's not getting into enough dangerous positions lately to get the big hauls, though he's still very involved overall. Sirius aren't great of course... Rosenberg is kind of a high floor low ceiling type of player most games, but I'm sure he'd like to smash in a few in the derby.

Assuming he starts - Haksabanovic at home to AFC Eskilstuna seems too good to pass up. Paulinho vs Elfsborg is also intriguing, you've got quite a few great captaincy shouts this week!

Nice team overall, but I'd put the armband on Haksabanovic, with Rosenberg as VC. With Kujovic in form and on a permanent deal, I'd say Buya is a big risk for the rest of the season. Also looks like Eric Larsson might be fit to play, and in that case I'd defenitly try to fit him in.

No other options? I still think that Kacaniklic is a great option, and concidering how many managers that have transfered him out, he's almost becoming a bit of a differential for the run-in.

If you still feel that you need to transfer him out, there are plenty of options. Bahoui and Irandust both have huge potential, but are rather frustrating to own. Traustasson, Thorarinsson, Haksabanovic, Ring are also good options IMO.

I'm not in a position where I cn bench him, I think. I also have a heavy mid of Irandust, Tankovic, Kačaniklić and Haksabanovic, which makes Bojanic an option. Would consider Ring too, but I have to get Witry back somehow, and that uses up my last Djurgården spot.

Not sure about Malmö and their rotation either…

31 chips played in the top 100. Every PTB-team I've seen have contained 3 Djurgården defenders, and every "Attack"-team I've seen have had Buya, so I expect red arrows this week. My goal of finishing top 20 might not be realistic now, but at least after this GW most chips have been played.

There was a rumour Haksabanovic would miss out but no Sterling jam in this game

Nice! 🙂 Haksabanovic (C), Krogh Gersson and Isak Petterson and no Malmö for me so I hope you’ll have a fun evening!

                      Excellent evening.
3rd goal was a real cracker from Fransson.
Hoping to clinch 3rd but fear it’s gone.

Where did those rumours came from? Any substance? Enjoy the game!

                  On the town.

                  Very laidback approach here.
Don’t know about current coach as I’ve moved out from the city but you used to be able to just stop and talk to the coach when you ran into him on the town.
I’m guessing it’s still about the same even though this coach ain’t that popular amongst the fans for some reason.

124pts on PTB. The relief at final whistles...

That's a superb score! Almost enough to me manager of the week, and a very well used PTB chip.

I finished on 72p and dropped 3 places, which is okay given that I was surpassed by 3 players using theire PTB-chip. Hopefully there wont be many chips left now. Very frustrating that AC was rested despite being in the initial match squad. Had they ruled him out, there is a chance I would have gotten Traustason instead. He's on my radar now, and if he can shake off that bruised thigh he suffered last night, he's going into my team for the weekend. I have 2ft and it feels like I have a decent plan for the run-in now, hopefully good enough to remain in the top of my local ML.

Cheers. Yeah that was unlucky on AC. I have Traustason so fingers crossed on his knock, but a little worrying given context of Malmo playing Europa btw 26/27 and 28/29.

I've also been worried about rotation and gametime for a player like Traustason, but looking in the past, he's pretty much started every game when being fit, and his goal involvment is even higher than AC's. Given his knock against Helsingborg, I realize that there's a chance he will be rested against AFC, but I'm willing to take that risk. The upcoming games against Göteborg, Hammarby and AIK are not games where Malmö can afford to rest or rotate theire best players, so I expect him to play all of them if being fit. In Traustason I think it's more a case of managed minutes and early substitutions than a full rest every now and then.

Haven't seen any news since this just after the game: https://www.fotbollskanalen.se/allsvenskan/forsta-beskedet-om-bahouis-skada-tveksam-om-han-kan-vara-med-nasta-gang/
I think it's highly unlikely he plays this GW, maybe next one otherwise probably aiming for a GW28 return I'd imagine.
