Fantasy Allsvenskan Gameweek 28

After another international break this season of Fantasy Allsvenskan is drawing to a close… With just three GWs to go, we have 4 managers from the FFS league in the top 10 overall which is an impressive feat in and of itself! The “actual football” part of it is just as exciting, as the three Stockholm clubs AIK, Djurgården and Hammarby are all fighting it out together with Malmö for the title. Malmö are currently first on 59 points (Goal Difference +35), Djurgården are second on 59 points (GD +30), Hammarby are third with 56 points (GD +31), and AIK are fourth, also on 56 points (GD +20). There are some absolutely massive games still to be played, with Hammarby-Malmö and Göteborg-Djurgården kicking the show to life in GW28!

Gameweek 27 review

Let’s start off by offering our condolences to Djurgården who have been so dominant this year, losing just four times but crucially, all of those games have been against their local rivals AIK and Hammarby who remains in the title race because of it… Djurgården’s difficulties in the derbies since 2011 have been well recorded and we won’t dwell on it too long, but for readers outside of Sweden, it is quite a unique happening as it’s not really representative of how it’s been traditionally. Keep in mind though that Hammarby spent five years in between 2010 and 2014 in the league below, and AIK have been great for a long time – but still, even with a close to perfect game-plan for Djurgården against Hammarby in GW27, just a few minutes loss of concentration cost them the game.

Tactically Djurgården’s coaching staff were right on the money, their players flying out of the gates to pressure Hammarby whenever they got hold of the ball, forcing them into making errors and creating a few dangerous situations. Goalkeeper Davor Blazevic (4.3m) who’s filling in for injured Johan Wiland (4.9m) looked a bit shaky initially but grew into the game as it went on. All Hammarby’s attacks were broken down early and if it hadn’t been for the lack of clinical finishing from Mohamed Buya Turay (9.7m) and Astrit Ajdarevic (8.5m), Djurgården would have entered the half time with a lead. The second half started off a bit better for Hammarby and minutes 53-56 turned out to be decisive. In the 53rd minute Nikola Djurdjic (10.4m) broke loose and was found through a nice little pass from Simon Sandberg (5.0m). The same Sandberg also assisted Alexander Kačaniklić (8.4m) just three minutes later, doubling the lead. The attacking fullback now stands at seven assists on the season, despite not offering any real prospect of a clean sheet, he’s doing what he can to remain relevant in the fantasy discussion. Sandberg produced these minutes of brilliance despite not having eaten anything in the last couple of days and according to coach Stefan Billborn “he looked like a bag of wet cupcakes in the dressing room.

It looked like Hammarby were going to grab the game by the neck and push Djurgården back but just three minutes later Jeppe Andersen (7.4m) made a really rash challenge on Jesper Karlström (6.0m) and was deservedly sent off for a second yellow card offence. The game thus shifted back to Djurgården who really pushed on to claw back the deficit. Buya Turay made it 1-2 in the 74th minute assisted by Jacob Une Larsson (5.4m) and the siege was fully on after that. An unusually solid Blazevic made some spectacular saves and Djurgården also had a ball hit the bar from close-range before the final whistle blew. Djurgården had ten shots (seven on target) to Hammarby’s five (two on target) and the ball 62% of the time, dominating most of the stats as well as the eye test – but it wasn’t to be this time either in the derby.

In other news from GW27, AIK won at home to Örebro 2-0 thanks to a Henok Goitom (9.9m) brace. Sebastian Larsson (9.0m) is starting to deliver a few attacking returns as well and provided one of the assists along with three bonus points. Örebro continues to underwhelm and have now lost three of their last four games, though to be completely fair they’ve faced Norrköping, Hammarby, and AIK in that period. Malmö keeps steaming on and won at home to Göteborg 1-0 thanks to ex-Djurgården defender Felix Beijmo (6.5m) scoring in the 62nd minute. André Calisir (5.0m) just back from a red card in GW25 against AIK repeated the feat against Malmö and will now also miss out on the game against Djurgården, owners are understandably jumping ship with Calisir who seems hell-bent on messing with our squads and Göteborgs results. Robin Söder (7.9m) and Giorgi Kharaishvili (9.0m) are also both struggling a bit now that the fixtures have turned for them.

Finally, here are some gameweek 27 stats, this week gathered from @poohdini59 on Twitter;

The three most popular captains in the top 1k were:

Sead Haksabanovic; Captained by 40.8%, EO 122.4%, scored 7 points.

Jesper Karlsson; Captained by 9.1%, EO 49.0%, scored 7 points.

Muamer Tankovic; Captained by 6.4%, EO 91.0%, scored 1 point.

Gameweek 28 preview

Friday night deadline again at 17.00 CET! It’s easy to get caught out during the international break so set an alarm or fix your team ASAP.

Malmö travel to Stockholm to take on a steaming Hammarby side who will have to make do without the suspended duo of Jeppe Andersen and Muamer Tankovic (9.4m). The winner in this game is going to be in a very good position ahead of the final two games, while the loser (especially if it’s Hammarby) could struggle to keep up with the rest. Hammarby will go for it in front of the home crowd so expect an open match with goals from both sides, but how will they cope without Tankovic? Anders Christiansen (9.9m) should be back for this crucial fight, though reports are scarce at the time of writing.

AIK will go to Falkenberg who are struggling to avoid relegation, the hosts will most likely put up a fight but AIK should have enough to deal with them. Henok Goitom and Sebastian Larsson are both interesting options, as we’ll get into in a bit. Djurgården are also on the road, going to Göteborg on Monday to try to keep this title challenge in their own hands. Currently second on just goal difference, this might start to play on their minds (especially in GW29 at home to Örebro). I don’t think they’ll throw all caution to the wind yet but both Örebro and the final game away to Norrköping could be high scoring for this very reason. There were somewhat confusing training ground reports this week about Mohamed Buya Turay stating that he was carried off the pitch in what “looked to be a career-ending injury, as it usually does, but it seems like a minor strain or impact and he should be fine for next week, unless something extreme happens. There are plenty of days to recover ahead of the next game.” Make of that what you will, hopefully we’ll get some more news ahead of the deadline – though I doubt it to be honest.

Norrköping entertain Kalmar and Sead Haksabanovic has actually returned in his five last games at home, getting three goals and six assists as well as five bonus points. Lars Krogh Gersson (6.9m) is the top-scoring defender so far (154 points) and as a matter of fact, he’s the second-highest scoring player overall after just Muamer Tankovic (175 points)! If he can wrestle penalties back from Christoffer Nyman (10.1m) he could even be a good captaincy shout this week.

Players to target

Henok Goitom is the spearhead of an AIK attack that faces off against Falkenberg, who’s been far from defensively solid this year. This fixture plus the one against Sundvall in GW30 could be great for attacking returns, and as a matter of fact just like Djurgården they need to score some goals to make up the goal difference… They’ll probably struggle to make up much of that difference away to Malmö so now could be the time.

Sebastian Larsson spent the international break with the Swedish national team doing what he does best currently, score penalties. On a lot of set pieces, he’s starting to prove his fantasy worth as well (his overall importance on the pitch is hard to do justice sometimes in a points-driven world).

Vladimir Rodic (8.3m) used to play for Malmö between 2015-2016 and we all know how that usually goes – it’s either a shambolic performance or an electric one, and I choose to take a positive stance on this one. Even if he doesn’t go completely bonkers this game, there’s always Östersund (a) and Häcken (H) before the season wraps up!

Captaincy thoughts

Sead Haksabanovic is the logical, “safe” choice. League leaders will see little reason to look elsewhere and for a good reason, he’s turning into the equivalent of early-season Tankovic.

Henok Goitom could be one for all you fellow chasers though, AIK tends to rarely smash teams out the park but if they get an early one in against Falkenberg, it could be an onslaught.

Lars Krogh Gersson gets thrown in as well and if you’re backing a Norrköping clean sheet, there’s always a good chance of some bonus and an attacking return with this wingback who’s also on corners. Possibly still on pens, I think Nyman took the last one mostly just to get going again, but we’ll see.

That’s it for me, good luck this gameweek and if you want to chat about fantasy football either comment here below – or hit me up @FF_Meltens on Twitter!

    Hi Meltens

Thanks for the write-up again, been looking forward to it as I've been wrestling a bit with what to do this week on transfers and my thoughts match what you've written about.

As much as I don't like taking hits a -4 has to be done this week so it's Tankovic and the very streaky Paulinho out and Goitam and Seb Larsson in for me.

At the moment the armband is on Haksabanovic, his home numbers are outstanding as you said and AIK don't seem to crush teams.

My pre-season target was a top 1% finish - around 340th but I'm a bit off that just now at 480th, let's see how this week goes now and that will likely shape transfers for the next two gameweeks.

    Good luck for this week.

      Hi MIM, thanks as always!
Sensible moves, we all know what Paulinho can do in any given week but he's been really off lately, and all of this season to an extent. AIK against Falkenberg and Sundsvall could be either really tight and crippled or free flowing and goal-fests, I'm leaning towards the latter.

Haksa should do well and his EO will reach over 100% yet again, which is annoying for non captainers of course. I'm currently on Krogh Gersson but it keeps shifting between the three I mentioned, think all of them are good picks this week.
Hope you'll be able to push on for the targeted finish, that's exceptional for someone who's just started playing Allsvenskan this year (if I remember correctly?) 🙂

Cheers Meltens, it's my second season, I finished 409th in my first season so I would like to better that if I can.

        https://en.fantasy.allsvenskan.se/a/entry/1436/history

Hi MT, I don't like taking hits much either but with Tankovic missing this week and Paulinho out of form I reckon with the two AIK lads I can make up the -4 over the last three gameweeks.

That's the hope anyway, though in fantasy football, it's the hope that really kills you!

        Good luck.

Yeah should be a decent chance of making up the hit, otherwise you can always just get one of them in this week and the other in GW30.

Could be right. I'm rethinking a hit - weighing up something like Goitom/Tankovic vs Djurdjic/someone else

I've taken the hit and let's see how it works out. I would have swapped Tankovic for Seb Larsson anyway so I'll measure Paulinho v Goitam (-4) over the last three gameweeks and see how it pans out. And I will let you know if it turns out to be a disastrous decision.

And may I add, I don't participate in any forums, either FFS or elsewhere as I find them a tad tedious and uninformative at best but Meltens, you, MT and a couple of others have made following Allsvenskan a real pleasure and I very much appreciate all the time you all put into making Allsvenskan most enjoyable.

              Thank you and cheers.

Cheers mate, I appreciate all the positive feedback over the season, it’s been great writing these articles and having a place to discuss Allsvenskan with like-minded people! I find Twitter can be decent place as well if you follow the right people and don’t take it too seriously, but that’s mostly for FPL 🙂

No worries, he got a YC and that’s his ninth for the season so he misses out on GW29!

Gives me shot of making up some points with Goitom then though his fixture next week is a tad tricky.

I was well pleased with my 7 points from Hodzic last night and I see you had him in as well - nice pick!

Love Hodzic, he’s my Doherty this season 🙂 Had him since GW1, he’s been in my squad all season bar a few week around the PTB in GW20. Brilliant squad player!

Cheers. As above it's Paulinho or Tankovic out for me, although don't think I'll take a hit to do both. Also need to lose at least one of 3 DIF defs but probably leaving that until gw30. Captain Haksabanovic

Yeah would also try to keep the DIF defs for the game at home to Örebro next week then ship!
I'm keeping Tankovic but I support Hammarby + have a solid bench so it all depends on your squad situation. I can see the logic in removing him to try to make up some ground, he's not been as involved lately in the penalty box either. I just like the bloke 🙂

Paulinho is a curious case, that much quality but fitness (and attitude?) seem to hold him back this year... He's also not the spearhead of the attack and Häcken miss Alexander Jemerejeff, which is a problem. He's definitely not worth his price but now it's mostly down to who you think outscores him for the final three games. Goitom is a worthy candidate, I feel.

          1. MTPockets
              4 years, 6 months ago

Will likely sell Paulinho. Had Goitom second half of last season - returns were quite mixed from memory but yep could be worth another try. Form looks decentish and I'm full on NOR, already have Karlsson. Guess Djurdjic/MFF fwd is another possibility but not the best fixture anyway. Think my bench is ok too - have J.Larsson and Kidiri (who I keep benching when he scores) to cover.

Actually Djurdjic isn't the worst of options either, two home games and an out of form Östersund away. Malmö will be tough but I'd be very surprised if Hammarby doesn't at least score a few (might still lose). Home game swings it for me, away to Malmö would have been a different story,

Cheers. Malmo have actually kept more away clean sheets (8/13) than home (7/14). But agree that Hammarby's strength is goals, so probably not this week.
And with Europa I'm never entirely sure who'll start for MFF. Appreciate they have to go all out now and only one more European fixture potentially affecting Allsvenskan, but on further pondering think Dahlin + Traustason enough for me.

Yeah Malmö lineups are hard to call with Europe, but I’d expect them to go for it with the best available squad against Hammarby and AIK, possibly rotate if they feel they can afford it in GW30 away to Örebro.

Thanks for the sum up Meltens!

Was all set on rolling the FT this week, so I havn't spent a minute on my team during the international break. I'm now trying to figure out if there's something I can do, something I've missed, but I can't really find any decent transfers to make this GW. The players I'm looking at, like Aiesh, Larsson or Rodic all have tricky fixtures this GW or next, so I'm hesitant to make a transfer this GW. Not overly pleased with my team now, but the players I need to get rid of (mainly Irandust and Tovio) can probably wait for another GW.

            Pettersson
            Mets - Käck - Toivio - Lauritsen
            Kacaniklic - Traustasson - Haksabanovic (c) - Irandust
            Karlsson - Haglund

Squad looks great, would consider dropping Irandust as we’ve talked about previously but not a huge concern. Good spot to punt though!

Otherwise 2FTs are always nice to move around with a bit more flexibility!

Irandust will go for sure, but not for another GW. Realized after my last post that I got just enough money to do Traustasson to Seb Larsson, and since I can't stand the sight of Traustasson I might do that transfer this GW. I could then do Irandust to Rodic or Aiesh next GW.

Not saving my transfer would eventuelly mean I'll only have one FT for GW30, and will then have 1-2 defenders from Norrköping facing 2-3 defenders from Djurgården. But I guess a lot of others will be in the same situation, and it could be hard to find any given clean sheets in GW30 anyway.

Yeah GW30 should be quite a few goals all around! Think most will still be with a few Djurgården and Norrköping defenders like you say, as long as they’ve attacking it’s not a huge issue.

Decided to do Traustasson to Larsson last night, and avoided the price rise on Larsson that would have priced me out of it today. Hoping for the best now, at least I wont have to think about it more until the deadline. It's GW28, so I should probably loosen up a bit on my long term planning and take a few more risks.

Now is the time for punts, indeed! Fun times, love it. Very tough to call who comes out on top in this title race. I did Kujovic to Goitom for the same reasons two days ago, wouldn't have been able to do it today.

Apparently up to 5 AIK players could miss the game against Falkeberg. Linnér spent yesterdays training in the gym, Lindkvist was ill, and Karlsson, Lundström and Bahoui all trained away from the rest of the team.

Larsson and Rodic are both good options. Defenitly not Rosenberg. Khariashvilli is a good pick, but there are rumours about a potential injury picked up on international duty. Keep an eye on that. Otherwise, perhaps Goitom and Rodic?

Aha, in that case I'd defenitly keep Khariashvili if he's fit. If that means you can only afford Rodic than It's a given pick, and a good one as well.

              B) but I’d think a while between Rodic and Larsson, floor and ceiling kind of a thing. I’d marginally still back Rodic for the run in, because of the attacking team he plays for. So Kharaishvili and Rodic I guess for me 🙂

            Cheers Meltens.

A bit tricky this GW for me. Have 1 FT and 3.1 ITB.

            Abrahamsson (Levchenko)
Krogh Gerson - Kack - Witry - Danielsson - Lauritsen
Svensson - Yasin - Haksabanovic - Larsson (Tankovic)
            Karlsson (Kharaishvili - Offia)

My thinking is taking out one of Abrahamsson (for Linner or Dahlin, possibly) or Yasin (for AC, if he's fit). I can carry Tankovic this week on the bench.

Any suggestions? I can easily roll the FT as well.

For this GW, I would concider starting Khariashvili over Witry, since triple Djurgården defence is a lot of eggs to put in one basket. Otherwise I think your team looks fine for this GW, so you should probably roll the transfer.

I don't think you should spend any more transfer on switching GK. Abrahamsson is a good keeper, and Levchenko has excellent fixtures so I think they will do. Instead, I'd look at getting rid of Yasin next GW (perhaps for Rodic or Aiesh), and then perhaps save the other transfer. That would allow you to go into GW30 with 2 FT that you could use to bring in two defenders, possibly from AIK? I'd avoid any player from Malmö, even AC. They're still in Europa League and seems to be grinding out results in Allsvenskan at the moment. Fixtures are tough, there are several injury doubts so I don't expect them to produce many goals or good attacking football for the reminder of the season.

#NeverBenchWitry but other than that I agree with all points. Danielsson gets the bench spot for Kharaishvili if it was me!

            (Joelsson - Wright - C Johansson - Tankovic)

Jarl not in the squad for AFC, but other than that it looks fine for this GW! Good luck!

Didn't know that! Will have to play Wright instead then…

Wow, made a chance in litterarally the last second before deadline. Couldn't decide between Käck and Witry so I kicked Toivio to the bench and played both instead. Hoping that Göteborg will produce another goal less draw at home to a top rival. Both my ML rivals got Larsson in so I'm not regretting that yet 🙂

Seems like I can get King for free, Wilson but have to ditch Pukki, or keep Pukki and get Wilson for a hit.

            A) King + Pukki
            B) Tomori + Wilson
            C) Wilson + Pukki (-4)

Right before the deadline I thought, "should I take a hit for Goitom? No, it's probably not worth it."

4 goals and an assist (so far) against Falkenberg…

Cheers MT, it's nice when a hit pays off so well, particularly when I've had another terrible week in FPL and in Eliteserien.

Allsvenskan is allowing me to retain a modicum of fantasy football dignity this season!

Working myself back up the rankings again, 83 all out and back up to OR317!

Glad I got Goitom & Larsson in a few weeks ago and Danielsson still bringing in huge points for me!

Tough GW next up.. with a lot of tough fixtures!

                Nice job!

Very impressive that you managed to catch the Goitom and Larsson train in time, and Danielsson is always a solid pick.

My GW sums up my season pretty well - two good days, one terrible day and overall a small arrow (a red one this time). I overtook the lead in the local ML on sunday, but after mondays games I 24p behind again. When I get a goal as reward fo keeping Kacaniklic, everyone els has Djurdjic or Bojanic. Witry subbed before the hour mark, a missed pen from Karlsson, 10 men Falkenberg manages to score on AIK...I just can't catch a break right now, and it's like I'm walking in quicksand.

My long term, strategic and very defensive style of playing this game has taken me pretty far, but I can't see it taking me any higher than this. I've been following some other players in the top in recent weeks, and some of them who were level with me a few weeks ago are now 50p ahead of me. They've been brave and taking many hits for players like Rodic and Goitom who've payed off big times. I will try to apply that next season, and use my chips better.

I Probably like to take more risks, and it's the reason I've had a few bad gameweeks a while ago, so it's really important to time the risky choices well - i.e. Paulinho hasn't really done what I expected, but Goitom has exceeded expectations
