This Gameweek has proven to be a big headache for the Scout Committee team, and with a limited pool of talent to choose from, we’ve had to dig deep to fish out three worthy “Differential” selections for you. We’ve ended up with an Austrian, a Spaniard and a Serb. Stop me if you’ve heard this one before…

Andreas Weimann

Aston Villa have arguably the toughest fixture of any of the teams playing this weekend with a trip to Old Trafford on the agenda but we’re thinking ahead here, boxing clever. While returns are likely to be limited on Sunday afternoon, Weimann should be considered as a worthy option – Villa’s double Gameweek 35 means they play three times when every other team plays just once or twice, introducing an interesting strategy for navigating the next three Gameweeks. The paradox of fielding a full XI this week is that you end up with less players with a double Gameweek 36, but by using players from Bolton and Aston Villa, you can boost the number of matches in Gameweek 35 and gain an extra fixture without taking a points hit.

Obviously this strategy only comes good if Weimann plays every game and in that respect, it’s a risky choice. All the signs stack up in the Austrian’s favour however; he managed his first 90 minute run out last time out and Alex Mcleish has been raving about him in the press following his wonder goal against Stoke. Villa look all but safe from relegation and have little left to play for and, considering his main rival in the side – Emile Heskey – is unlikely to earn a new contract in the summer, you’d have to bet on the youngster getting his chance over the remaining games.

Fixtures and rotation risks aside, Weimann looks a real prospect. That’s two goals in the last five Gameweeks now, which is already more than Heskey has managed all season. Priced at 5.0 he can fit any budget, and with less than 1000 owners at the time of writing, he is currently a proud member of the 0.0% club. With United likely to be jittery following the Wigan defeat, the young Austrian’s fearless approach may just trouble them.

Aleksandar Kolarov

While Weimann is a pick that could come good once the Gameweek has passed, Aleksandar Kolarov is the opposite – a potential one-hit wonder who could possibly pay off big this weekend for those willing to take the punt. The Serbian is notorious around these parts for letting us down when we throw his name into the ring, so this one comes with a health warning. Even so, if Roberto Mancini chooses to rotate Gael Clichy and hand Kolarov an outing at Carrow Road, the formbook says he’ll make an impact.

Kolarov has notched a goal and three assists in his last two league starts – admittedly they were home matches but, in a Gameweek where clean sheets could be a scarcity, Kolarov has attacking potential that few defenders can rival based on form over recent outings. With just 0.8% ownership, if you take temporary membership to the Kolorov fan club (Mark is still the chairman, secretary and treasurer) then it could pay dividends at a time when gambles could be the order of the day.

Mikel Arteta

While Theo Walcott hoovers up transfers, his Spanish team-mate has quietly and efficiently blinked on the radar of late thanks to some outstanding home form. Two goals in his last two Emirates encounters, with maximum bonus thrown in, bodes well for Arteta. He has also amassed his most impressive performances stats over the past four Gameweeks – our members can dip and see for themselves how he compares to the field right now. In a nutshell, then, Arteta is in his best form of the season, just in time for luckless Wigan to arrive in his backyard.

The smart money will be on Robin Van Persie and Theo Walcott to help themselves to further attacking returns but playmaker Arteta, with just 4.8% ownership, looks an ideal option for those seeking something a little different, with form to back it up.

I assume you mean you, since I don't have him. I got rid of Enrique weeks ago as Liverpool's defence has been rubbish. Not regretting it either.

My doubles will be Dempsey, Cisse, Simpson, Baines, Schwarzer and getting in Bale, Adebayor and BAE/Huth.

It will be either 8 by not using the trade and playing 10 or 6 if I use a trade and get the 11 this GW.

    RVP - Rooney - Gabby.

    Subs
    Krul-HBA-Demps-Kelly.
I am really worried about the availibility of Gibbs and my cheap mid Surman who is always on the bench.

3.1 in the bank. Should i bring in Verm. (even he is playing inform Wig).

Not sure it was the right move but I sold Kelly for Verm with my FT. I only had 8 players and two of them are rotation threats. Now I have the extra player I have a somewhat more solid team, although not in attack. I am a little worried though that it won't pay off because I am no longer carrying over the free transfer, so essentially it was for a hit? Was it wise? I don't fancy Fulham defense for the DGW.

Bardsley has more chance for CS but he couldn't finish 90 minutes in the last 2 games and still being flagged as doubt. Caulker is quite sure to start.. For Gw34 that you need player to start, Caulker.

Yes I've been thinking about this logic... It may be better just keeping and having 2 FTs next GW to play with... who knows what will happen (injuries etc) and also there isn't a compelling transfer with my team at the moment...

Crap, Bale's price is freefalling. I understand he's got a blank, but he's not been poor.

He's hit the crossbar 3 times in his last 5 PL games, and still assisted twice.

Arsenal have scored 19 goals in their last six league meetings with Wigan (3.16 per game).

The Gunners have won 10 of their 13 PL meetings with the Latics (D2 L1).

Arsenal have won all nine matches at home to Wigan in all competitions, keeping a clean sheet in each of the last six.

The Latics are the only Premier League side to have played at least five times at Arsenal but never taken a point there (W0 D0 L6).

Arsene Wenger's men have won their last five league games at home, and have lost only one of their last 15 (W12 D2).

Arsenal have not won six in a row at home in the league since the start of October 2009.

Wigan have only lost one of their last four league matches on the road (W2 D1): 1-2 at Chelsea.

To date, Manchester United are the only side against whom Robin van Persie has scored in two different league matches this season.

All but three of Arsenal's 35 league goals at home this season have come from open play (two direct free kicks and one goal from a corner).

Robin van Persie has scored or assisted 59 goals in his last 50 Premier League appearances.

          ---

United have failed to win four times against Villa in the last four seasons in the PL: only against
Chelsea and Liverpool (five each) have they been less successful.

Villa have only won on one of their last 26 league visits to Old Trafford (1-0 in December 2009).

The Red Devils have scored three or more in six of their last eight PL games at home to the Villans.

Defeat in this match would mean that Villa have their lowest-ever points total after 33 games in the Premier League (35).

Sir Alex Ferguson's men have won their last six Premier League games at home, conceding just one goal in this run.

Villa have taken maximum points in just one of their last 10 league matches (D5 L4).
Aston Villa have already picked up more points on the road this season (18) than last season (17).

Manchester United have not failed to score in consecutive Premier League games since May-Aug 2007.

Man Utd have won all nine Premier League games that Paul Scholes has started this season.

Despite defeat at Wigan, United have the fifth best points total after 33 games of a Premier League season.

Rooney! main reason is as a United supporter I expect a reaction at Old Trafford this weekend. Rooney in particular needs to shine and dominate the game. I am also in need of a differential captain this week as I only have 9 players so its an opportunity to keep up with the masses that have 11 players and RVP as captain. Wigans form of late may also cause Arsenal problems

Two points at home vs Wolves, Two points at home vs Bolton, Two points at home vs Villa. Just has to at least raise the question that once in a while, against a crap side at home, he doesn't turn on the scoring machine.

This season is only a test first as its almost end of season. However, next season there should be prizes haven't decided yet, some Im looking for suggestions. Also, this is a head 2 head league. Theres 3 divisions, top 3 promotes, bottom relegates.

simply trying to find out what it is. You seem to use words very loosely so it's hard for an outsider like myself to fully understand why I should join this league
