Scoutcast Episode 311 – Rashford, whipping boys and the wealth of cheap defenders in FPL

There is a nostalgic theme to this week’s episode, with Joe joined by fellow seasoned Scoutcasters Andy and Az.

Meanwhile, Joe’s ‘nostalgia pick’ of Harry Kane also comes under deserved scrutiny, especially as other strikers, most notably Marcus Rashford, are looking far more appealing.

Our trio consider the merits of drafting in the Manchester United talisman, even before a derby clash this weekend in Gameweek 16. They also reveal their favoured front three going into the festive fixtures.

Formation comes under the spotlight in their lively discussion about how the wealth of cheap defenders this season have altered the thinking of Fantasy Premier League managers.

Whipping boys are also looked at as the Scoutcast crew consider the defenders to avoid, while Az also reveals the best teams for clean sheets over the next six Gameweeks.

Let’s Talk FPL’s Andy takes his turn choosing a differential after recent successes for Az’s Alli selection two weeks ago and Sam’s James Ward-Prowse punt last time out.

Elsewhere, chess champion Magnus Carlsen (and number nine in the FPL world rankings) is the star of Gameweek 15’s ‘Rough with the Smooth’ round-up of your latest scores.

This retro-charged episode also reveals Joe, Andy and Az’s strategies for Gameweek 16, including their transfer and captaincy plans.

3 is not good due to

      A) Liverpool Blank (do you want to bench 3 Liverpool players?)
      B) 7.3M is expensive considering lack of clean sheets

1 Be patient, Pulisic is van awesome buy. He may not be firing for the last 3 weeks, but the stats say he has been quite unlucky

      2 I like this move! 🙂

Why did Martial fall? Last I checked he was around -60 something. These price falls and rises are so weird this year imo.

With Joel Ward out for rest of year, is Kelly nailed on?

Anyone else who could play at right back and replace Kelly?.

Everton have approached Mauricio Pochetinno as a candidate for their vacant managerial position.
I mean, you've got to appreciate the sheer audacity. But fair play, you don't ask you don't get, worst thing he says is no.

Good club Everton but i think Pochetinno will be at a massive club

I checked out Willems for this week as well, but they only have 2 CS so far, so not sure anymore if I want him.

More about his attacking threat and his fixtures can give at least 2 returns

Ah I see, yeah that might be a good shout, they are often dependent on him and Maximin to create something.

Newcastle kept a CS against SHU mostly due to poor finishing and a good Dubravka, wasn't really down to a good defensive match from Newcastle.

A Smith, S Cooke and King still out vs Liv.

Time for a Liv pool clean sheet and Taa/Robbo haul...?

I guess Tomori and Martial to Alli and Kelly.

Will downgrade one of my front 8 after the black GW18 for Liverpool/ Will bench Mount this week if i do those moves.

    Thoughts please?

    Pope,
    TAA, Soyunchu, Lundstram
    Mount, Son, Mane, Maddison
    Abraham, Vardy, Jimenez

    4m, Martial, Tomori, Rico

So many popular players playing away from home this week - does that make Son a potentially better captaincy option?
