FFS Cup

The latest FFS Cup fixtures and results

The draws for the sixth round of the FFS Members Cup and the seventh round of the FFS Cup have taken place following the completion of Gameweek 21.

We’re down to the final 16 Fantasy managers in both tournaments after the New Year’s Day round of fixtures.

FFS CUP

The results from the sixth round of the open-to-all 2019/20 FFS Cup are available by clicking here.

The seventh round draw in full can be accessed here.

Our highest-ranked manager in round six (more of whom below) made it through to the round of 16.

Teddy Brewski, still chasing a cup double, beat robharr to progress to the next stage.

He will play TOMYG84 in round seven.

Our only all-top 10k clash in Gameweek 22 sees Mataatti take on Leggend2: this is the former’s third successive meeting with a manager inside the top 10,000 at the point of the tie.

Our only two remaining site users who lie outside the top 100k and who remain in the FFS Cup, stamfordbridge and A Team Has No Name, meet each other in the last 16.

FFS MEMBERS CUP

The scores from the fifth round of the 2019/20 FFS Members Cup are available by clicking here.

The sixth round draw in full can be accessed here.

An impressive four of our remaining 16 managers – including the aforementioned Teddy Brewski – are currently inside the top 1k.

Our highest-ranked entrant left in either competition remains at 14th in the world after Gameweek 21.

frankiem, who first entered the top 1k four months ago, defeated Emm7980 and will meet prbaker1980 in the sixth round.

ActorJeff and BeckerCallSaul, who have overall ranks of 388th and 586th respectively, also progressed.

The aforementioned TeddyBrewski saw off moderator TorresMagic in the first Gameweek of 2020 and will next play robharr – who he coincidentally defeated in round six of the FFS Cup.

    Salah (TC), KDB, Maddison, Grealish
    Vardy, Ings, DCL
    (Traore, Lundstram, Rico, Button)

    B

Is Auba still set on leaving? If yes, obviously A. But love the second option if I am honest.

Thanks, I was all set on B but I can't help thinking A is the better option.
A is actually £1.8m cheaper as well so I will have more flexibility with future transfers.

Have a decent record in fpl in recent years, but struggling.
Am normally quite patient, but dont seem to be going anywhere, sitting at 400k
When do you pull trigger and take some left field punts to attempt a catch up, or try and give it another few gws before getting desperate?!

400k isn't too bad, there is plenty of time to catch up.
I've been trying to slowly improve my overall rank after a terrible start but I haven't picked anyone out of the ordinary.
Just focus on picking whoever you think will score the most points and ignore things like ownership.

      It's a balance.

My advice would be try and hold onto the likes of Trent and de Bruyne, but go with Salah over Mane for captaincy GW24, and use that fourth midfield slot to take some punts.

Sean Dyche on Joe Hart -> Aston Villa:

It is unlikely anyone will be going out of the building in January but not impossible. Now and again there is the perfect deal that works for everyone — right for the player and right for the clubs.

I'm just not sure how much of an upgrade he is over what we've got, with Nyland, Kalinic and Steer once fit. Think I'd prefer the money / wages to be invested in a central midfielder and forward.

Really tough decision this one. And I'm seeing similar dilemmas for many people - several downgrades to get Salah.

Maybe try to make the moves as close to DGW as possible and then make sure you captain Salah. And, then I think it's just about worth it!

I'm going for Rash & Alli > Mane & DCL next week but any ideas what to do this week with 2 FT?

    A) Alli > Richarlison/City mid (but can't do Sterling) - one week punt
    B) Rico > Holgate/Dunk/Webster/Balbuena/Stephens
    C) Guaita > Fabianski
    D) just do next week's move (but hard to ignore Rash vs Nor)

    Guaita 4.0
    TAA Soy Lund Catchart Rico
    Salah KDB Alli Maddison Dendo
    Vardy Rash Ings

As an owner, I'm satisfied with his performance and returns in last 3 games.

    Pope / Button
    TAA / Balbuena / Lundstram / Kelly / Rico
    Salah / Mane / KDB / Grealish / Cantwell
    Abraham / Ings / Vardy

2 FTs. 0.00 in the bank.

Cantwell & Abraham > Martial & Greenwood feels like FPL suicide this week, with Abraham also at home?

Better to just downgrade Pope or replace Kelly/Rico, and leave myself 2 FTs again next week?

    .................Ryan
    ..TAA - Soy - Lundy - Rico - Kelly
    Mane - KDB - Maddy - Grealish - Alli
    ......Vardy - Rashford - Connolly

Really struggling how to use my 2FT's this week. On the one hand I want to start making some moves to bring in Salah somewhere down the line before the DGW. But on the other hand I also want to switch formation from 3-5-2 to 3-4-3 to take advantage of having some decent forwards to choose from (Jimi, Rash, Ings, Tammy, Vardy all looking good IMO). But the formnation change brings me no closer to Salah coming in before DGW.

    So, basically, would you do:
    A) formation change - Grealish & Connolly > Ings & Dendonker

    B) Use 1 ft to allow me to bring Salah in later on and roll the other FT - Alli > Traore

    1. Pukki Blinders
      • 4 Years

If I change Pope > Fab or other 4.9 Keeper before DGW24 then I need to downgrade one of:
Soyuncu, Grealish or Jiminez to be able to do Sterling > Salah

If I stick with Pope I have exact funds for Sterling > Salah

I'm trying to roll a transfer each week so I have 2 transfers for GW24, maybe an injury or red card somewhere in the team will solve the problem.

So is it worth changing Pope if it means changing another good player out too?

On the radar for coming in are in GW24 with a nice fixture swing
    Grealish > Sarr
    Jiminez > Deeney
    Soyuncu > 4.5 or less

    1. thegaffer82
      • 12 Years
      4 years, 2 months ago

Nah, GK transfers are not great anyway imo. Then when it also involves downgrading an outfield player to make it work just makes it even less appealing.

In all my seasons of playing FPL, I think I've only used a free transfer to make an unforced Goalkeeper transfer once.
Ironically, that was when I took the overperforming Pope out a few seasons ago, and brought in Pickford. Pope went on to destroy Pickford and it cost me somewhere between 40-50 points over the rest of the season. Nasty.

But with half a season gone, I am getting itchy with Pope again. I expected him to be the standout Goalkeeper this year and while he has done okay - he's not doing great in terms of saves or bonus - despite keeping 7 clean sheets, only 1 less than Leicester who have the most this season.

My attentions are being drawn to Ryan, and the newly returned Fabianski, who has a DGW on the horizon.

But is is really worth a transfer to take a goalkeeper out? Pope is doing alright, and really, the goalkeeper position is the one you don't really want to be chopping and changing. A set and forget (or two rotating goalkeepers) is the best bet, and the idea of using transfers on this position does not seem very lucrative.

No goalkeeper has hit the 100 point mark yet, and Pope is actually only 9 points behind the top scoring goalkeeper (Schmeichel).

Sure, he has some tough fixtures, but if you are planning on "setting and forgetting" it doesn't really matter, as any keeper you bring in will have to play the same teams at some point.

Or maybe its best to just pick a keeper up until GW 33-34, when wildcards will likely be played? In that case, Pope probably is worth moving on as has some decent games around this period and may be the standout option.

Leno might actually be a good pick in this regard. Great fixtures from now right up until 33, and then you may look to wildcard and switch him out.

What is everyone planning on doing with goalkeepers? Looking for a new one, or happy with what you've got?

I played my WC a couple of weeks back and settled on Ryan, which I'm happy with, but I think Pope owners should consider a move.

Just look at Guaita's returns GW14-17, 34 points... it can sometimes be worth switching.

Yeah well I bought Guaita in for GW18-21 for a measly 10pts. And the ticker was green all the way through that.

Was considering Pope > Fabianski, but leaves me 0.3m short of Sterling > Salah. See above.

I'm in a similar position to this. Would like to move Pope on but the 0.2 cost of moving him to Ryan or any other 4.8GK prohibits Salah in for GW24, which has to be my priority.

I'm also looking at Pope out. I have Ryan already and 2 FT but really not confident what to do with them so may make a GK transfer. Then have more info next week on likes of West ham and Everton under new management. Options for me are McCarthy to get some extra cash or a slight upgrade to foster

Same position for me. Really want to move Pope on and get maybe McCarthy or maybe even Leno. If I had 2 FT and not much to do I would for sure move Pope on. Not sure yet. Probably will keep for this week. I expect 1 or 2 points.

Im selling Pope for Henderson this week.

Sheffield Utd sit 3rd on the fixture ticker and Burnley are last between GW22-30 so the move does make sense to me.

If I had 2FT's and literally nothing else to do, then I'd make a GK tranny in a heartbeat. But otherwise, it's not worth it imo.

The difference between GKers is not very big. And with save points and penalty saves making up a decent part of the GK's overall score, you don't even need a cleanie to get points with a GKer.

I don't have Pope, so it's easy for me to say, but I wouldn't bother with the transfer. Instead use your FT's to try to get Mane, Salah & TAA in for Dgw

Went for Ramsdale 2 weeks back. Bou are poor defensively but they were always poor. Have to wait for the fruit to ripe with him. Fixtures are good too. Ryan probably the best option right now.

Hoping that Fab will outscore Hendo based on fixtures and new manager effect, then he can leave after GW25

No Position is less important than the GK-Position.
I will stick with my "set and forget"-GK Ryan.

I will trade Button to a playing GK with good fixtures in my Bench-Boost-Week.

I had Pope from the start and switched him to Henderson then Guiata. I'll probably have him until 30 or when the WC kicks in as the fixtures are good. My team's been fairly settled and I've burned transfers as I can't see a move to make and I'm happy with my squad. I wouldn't normally change keeper so much but it's proved lucrative so far.

Pope>Fabianski done. Ryan is probably a better bet but I can't resist the prospect of all those DGW save points.

With a dismal rank in the 800k range, I am moving for Fabianski in the double gameweek. At this point I need to roll the dice a bit, and at worst he should match most single gameweek goalies.

I agree with what most of you say here, goalkeeper transfers are relatively low upside compared to other positions because save points tend to "flatten out" their performance relative to each other and across fixture difficulty, when compared to how other positions' assets perform.

However, recently I found myself with 2ft and no desire to change any of my other 14 players, plus the DGW had just been announced. So I saw Pope to Fabianski as a transfer which stopped me having to burn a transfer, removed a player with poor fixtures for one with better ones (plus an additional fixture), and get off a poorly performing team to one which may or may not have a new manager bounce. So the circumstances enabled the transfer really. I wouldn't advise making it a priority transfer though, and certainly wouldn't advise taking a hit to change them.

Going for me on a mini-WC next week.
Would like Fabs for the DGW but he does look like another keeper transfer waiting to happen with West Ham's fixtures.
        Ryan looks the best bet.

Did Pope to Ramsdale on wc, already regretting that. With two FT's and nothing other transfers really needed, I'm tempted to ship Ramsdale already, even if this weeks fixture not that bad for Bournemouth. Will have to burn an FT if not doing it this GW, though. Unfortunately 0.1 off Fabianski , so Ryan or Foster appear the best alternatives. Also tempted to go cheap with McCarthy and upgrade Rico, but pose a problem if McCarthty loses his spot.

Started with Pope changed to Henderson now with Fab. Will probably go back to Hendo after 25 as well! Shall see...
These are FT too, if you’ve got nothing pressing it’s nice to try and catch the swings or take a gut punt.

Sold Pope for Henderson sth like 5-6 GWs ago and will keep Henderson all season I think.

Not gonna fall for Fabianski just bc he has a DGW24 - could hardly be any worse, dont expect any CS so not worth one FT.

Will keep Hendo until 2nd WC

Its prime for it yes. Given that gw31 is already a blank.

I'm eyeing up gw24 for FH though. Could shape up with some teams blanking and some others having a double.

I’m on WC so I could literally pick anyone and I’m picking McCarthy. Yes he’s cheap and an enabler but my rationale runs deeper than that. I’m a Saints season ticket holder and the eye test alone tells me Saints have significantly improved defensively over the last six weeks. Stats back this up. He’s nailed as first choice (Hassenhutl has talked him up in the match day programmes).

I’m really on the fence on this one. I’ve got two FTs and I don’t have an obvious move for this week (I’ll get a third Liverpool asset, but not yet). Seems sensible in that case to do the move (Pope to Ryan) but like Az, I hate the idea of using a transfer on a largely undifferentiated position.

I've had Ryan since GW1 and couldn't be happier. I only went with him because I didn't want to rotate (too much stress trying to pick the right one in a pair each GW) and by drafting both him and Button in from BHA I thought I'd be covered in case of injury/suspension. I don't think I'll be switching, even when it's wildcard time.

I'm asking the exact same questions this week as I was planning on moving Pope on.

I have no idea who to bring in though. Fabianski is a nostalgic pick and is boosted by the double, but fixtures are no better than Pope's. I quite like Ryan, Foster, or even McCarthy but again not sure which I would choose.

I think Leno is interesting but can you really live with yourself if Arsenal continue to be the Arsenal we know.

I dont agree with these thoughts.....

There's always gonna be oppurtunities in a season where probability suggests that a GK-transfer will reap rewards. Pope-owners might be in this position right now.

No use looking back at past events where suvh moves failed. just go with likelyhood. If switching goalies is what suggests the biggest yield, then go for it imo.

Another thing that bugs me is that every man and his dog is set on "set and forget" as far superior to rotating goalies. I'm sure studying this and that from past statistics will back this up, but that doesnt mean that rotation is a bad route.

When everyone zigs it can be very beneficial to zag. Some of the "truths" widely held by people in the community will present some interesting possibilities for those willing to make up their own minds.

      A - Maddison, Sarr, DCL

The Liverpool Triple-up is a good example as to why building up Team Value is important at the start of the season. Those with high Team Value can have both Salah and Mane without downgrading players and decimating their teams.

Exactly. The likes of Grealish, Maddison etc in midfield and all the cheap options in defence should make it pretty easy to have a decent team still after getting Salah & Mane.
