Scoutcast crew debate whether to Wildcard after Double Gameweek 24

Fresh from, what was for many, a disastrous outcome of the Triple Captain, the Scoutcast are moving onto the next chip: the second Wildcard.

The Fantasy Premier League community has been debating the best time to press the overhaul button and we’ll bring you our thoughts tonight.

Join Joe, Az and Lee for the latest episode of the Scoutcast at 20:00 GMT on our YouTube channel.

The three pundits will give their views on the Wildcard as well as what to do with the injured Sadio Mané (£12.4m).

The Liverpool man, heavily backed for the Triple Captaincy in Double Gameweek 24, has already been ruled out of the game against West Ham and is a major doubt for Gameweek 25 too.

Is now the time to sell or hold Mané? Joe, Az and Lee will discuss that in some depth.

Meanwhile, Aston Villa and Leicester will be going head-to-head in their EFL Cup semi-final second leg so we will do our best to bring you updates from that game.

Ideas here? 2 FT 3.3 ITB

    Ryan
    TAA - Soy - Rico
    Salah - Mane* - KDB - Grealish
    Vardy - DCL - Ings
    (Button; Lundstram, Kelly, Dendocker)

    A) Mane + DCL > Traore + Aguero
    B) Mane + Vardy > Son + Aguero
    C) other?

The GW28 confirmed blank for Sheff united and Aston Villa and in all likeliness Man City and Arsenal makes planning tricky. On top of that you also have blank GW31 of which we only know of two fixtures which will go ahead to date but it looks like at least half of the matches in GW31 will not go ahead due to teams progressing to the FA cup QF. There could also be a DGW thrown in there for good measure between now and GW31. Absolute mayhem!

Used my 1FT. What do you reckon to this team for GW25?

    5.5itb 0FT
    McCarthy
    TAA, Lunds, Holgate
    Salah (C), KDB, Martial, Grealish
    Vardy, Ings, DCL
    (McGovern) (Cantwell, Soy, Williams)

Will likely bring in Robbo/ VVD for Soy and Jimi next week.

    Cheers

Anyone else thinking of using FT's to prepare for 31 and then FH'ing in 34? At the moment there isn't too many options for 31 but Liverpool might join them and I plan on having 3 Liverpool and 3 Wolves soon.

34 looks like a blank GW for some and a double for others so FH could be useful then

That's my current plan but need more info first. Liverpool's kids may not win the next two games so decent chance of them being involved in 31 which would make planning for it quite easy. Norwich v Everton also looks likely to me and as you say triple Wolves isn't a problem with their fixtures.

Yeah if Liverpool are playing in 31 it could be a waste of a FH to use it then

I've been eyeing up this possibility for a while. As I see it you could:
      A) Deadend into GW31, WC32, FH34, but have to be confident it wouldn't wreck my team before/after with bad players.
      B) Play through GW31, keep spine of the team & play 9 with a few FTs without hits (easier if L'Pool out). FH34, WCflexi
      C) Just play form/fixtures/value as normal and keep FH reserved for 31, Deadend into GW34, WC out for the big DGW

GW34 is the mystery for me, with blanks and doubles at short notice, I wonder if it'll be hard to maximise without chips.
An early DGW for teams (ManCity) could be a joker, that I'd like to keep the FH reserved until I know what's going on.

It feels like the cards are up in the air and haven't quite landed yet. I've set up to play through GW28 already.
So probably be patient and flexible, keeping options A+B+C open by looking at GW31 enablers/bench and retaining WC and FH and 2FT as long as possible until I get more info around the QF draw. I'll want to be super aggressive on a strategy as soon as the cards fall, knowing people who have used WC/FH/BB already may not be able to follow it.

After much deliberation, I got rid. Seeing Klopp's presser, I think the earliest Mane's back is for Nowrich. And, given the CL just 3 days later I wouldn't be surprised if started from the bench v Norwich.

Now that Mane has dropped, is it actually worth swapping him out?

He likely misses Southampton, but he has 15 days to recover after that. I don't really see a viable alternative worth burning 2 FT to get him out and back in when the rest of my squad is in need of a serious tune up.

Might just upgrade a bench player this week and hope he comes back for Norwich.

With Martial it is probably don't by, don't sell situation. Most of us have bigger injury issues or something better to do with defs at least. (Yet, he is one of many options for Mane though).

    Button - Ryan
    TAA - Evans - Stephens - Lundstram - Kelly
    Salah - Mane - KDB - Grealish - Cantwell
    Aguero - Ings - Maupay

Already on -4. Concerned Kelly and Lundstram may be benched. Maupay was the worst mistake I made. Mane is injured, and I doubt he will have significant playing time until GW 27.

Should I wildcard? I could get Jimenez, double Liverpool defense, and Traore in for Cantwell.

I'm probably not keeping though as I have 2 fts and can easily bring him back at a cheaper price I do A/D/E.

Auba and Kun are likely to blank in 28, so perhaps good time to ditch and bring Mane in?

with Kun + KDB + Mahrez already in place that would be sweet!

No way Mahrez plays both. Worryingly Kun may fall into that too.

    Best transfers:

    1. Rico Mane >> Robertson Traore
    2. Mane Greenwood >> Traore Firmino

Essentially between Robertson and Firmino ?

Robertson is better value and less other premium defenders stand out than premiumish forwards. Presume you have trent and Salah already.

Yep currently own TAA Salah... you’re right... much more choice to fill the forward slots...

Would you pay the extra for Robertson over VVD, don’t really need the funds (yet)

I'be had robbo and taa since gw 14 but he's not really given value over vvd as if yet

Robbo is due a run of points, which adds to the temptation

Mane is likely to miss GW25 with an injury and though he is expected to be back for Norwich in GW26, the fact that Liverpool play in the Late kickoff on Saturday and then away to Atletico Madrid on the Tuesday with a short turnaround makes me think Mane gets 20-30 minutes tops against the Canaries.

For managers without Salah, switching to the Egyptian is an obvious move but those with the Mane/Salah double up , where are you investing in with the third Liverpool slot – attack or defence?

Firmino has posted impressive numbers of late, over the last four gameweeks no forward has registered more shots (16) or shots in the box (15).

Robertson/Van Dijk are the other options with the Dutchman’s security of starts around the Champions League fixtures more assured.

    Where's your money going?

Think I'll probably keep him since my transfers are required in other positions. I was mostly interested in nor, WHM, wat, BOU anyway.

Dropping him does make things easy as it gives funds bit wont be able to get a 3rd LIV, no spot in defense and upfront.

I was thinking of keeping him too initially but that Atletico fixture on a Tuesday worries me, its the shortest possible turnaround between matches with them playing Norwich away at 530 on Saturday.
Hamstring injuries are one of the easiest to aggravate, so it would not make sense at all for Klopp to start him in both games with such a short turnaround.

Had Mane since gw3 so a lot of value tied up. Got rid of KDB for his 19 point haul vs arsenal and had to fork out 1M more to get him back. But in this case I think Salah might outperform Mane for remainder of season. Which might be 1 month more at this rate

well even if you got him at 11.5, hes 12.3 now, likely to drop another 0.1-0.2 soon. So to buy him back is gonna cost you just 0.3 more possibly.
Is that enough to have a 12m asset missing possibly two fixtures? The gamble you're taking in that case is that he plays against Norwich

Yeah easy move for you there bud. I'm strangely tempted by Firmino even though he has burnt me so many times in previous seasons. Seems to be shooting a lot more these days and I see lots of goals in those pool fixtures

So many cheap forwards doing well atm. I just can't get Bobby in my team tbh. Feels like wasting a Pool spot (long term*)

If there is a City double I am going Mane to Dilva and Ryan to the penalty taker Ederson... KDB captain. No Kun

I dont own mane, I had the double salah/mane earlier in the season, but sold mane for kdb.
Salah is the obvious change, and it's a bit of a sickener as I was banking on him being a slight differential to get me up the ranks over the next run of games.
Now salah will be in every team.

Mane > Salah for me on FT. I got Mane at 11.7m with a sell value of 12m so getting him back won't be a problem (if getting him back at all). That gives me Salah, Robbo + TAA.

Why no love for Gomez? I would love to get Robbo or Virg but I cant afford him on my WC as I'm looking at Auba and Kun up top. So Gomez looks relatively secure with a decent bench
