We’ll again be combining Fantasy Football with a flutter in 2020/21 but this season we will be doing so in the company of our friends at bet365.

We are pleased to announce that bet365 will be our official sportsbook partner in the campaign to come, so expect to see regular articles covering the latest odds and special offers from the world’s favourite online sports betting company.

Each week we will be trying to harness our Fantasy know-how and the data in our Premium Members Area to pick out a few punts ahead of the upcoming action, to see if we can get one over on the bookies.

From baseball to trotting (us neither), bet365 offer a whole host of betting opportunities for those in the mood for a sensible flutter.

It’s good old association football that we’ll be focusing on in 2020/21, however, with the bread and butter of the Premier League our primary focus.

From first goalscorers to total corners, we’ll be seeing if we can pick out some value bets in the run-up to the weekend’s action.

We’ll be back with our first selection ahead of Gameweek 1 but, in the meantime, head on over to the bet365 site to check out the latest odds on the UEFA Nations League, the Premier League title race and anything else that takes your fancy.

Anyone going with any niche (relative to the template) picks/punts?

Quite heavily considering going with Perez/Barnes for a 1 week punt before changing to Greenwood. Perez if it looks like he's playing the second striker role.

If you could call going no liverpool and easing players in from gw4 a 3 week punt - that is my plan

        Dier, Vinagre, KWP, Taylor, Ferguson
Mane, Auba (c), Barnes, Jones(Liv), Gordon
        Ings Kane Werner

0.5 itb, plan to bring in Martial and Sterling for Auba and Ings. I can start Jones against bad teams as he may come on if Liverpool dominating weaker side to get cheeky points.

I gambling on mount before switching to pulisic when he's fit. I was torn between barnes and mount for that goal scoring threat and I prefer mount's position more.

      1. Guba
        • 8 Years
        3 years, 7 months ago

Yeah Mount could be a good option but it's uncertain where he'll start if at all. He might get the no.10 role, Hudsdon I expect to be on the wing with Ziyech though. If Havertz starts Mount would have to be back deeper in the midfield or even benched.

        1. ivantys
          • 3 Years
          3 years, 7 months ago

He's way ahead of Hudsen that's for sure. Frank loves him a lot for some reasons lol. He will most likely be playing the attacking mid role with pulisic and harvetz unable to play, and ziyech doubtful.

          1. Guba
            • 8 Years
            3 years, 7 months ago

Nah he's not, Hudson will be on the wing I'm sure. He started on the wing against Brighton last week and got the assist too. Mount isn't a winger either.

            • 8 Years
            3 years, 7 months ago

But yeah it will depend on Havertz. If he gets the no. 10 role that would be great for his FPL potential for gw1 which is fairly likely I'd say.

            1. ivantys
              • 3 Years
              3 years, 7 months ago

He does like to get forward a lot though, so even if he plays the back 2 he still might be worth it. Alternative would be barnes or zaha but I do not like zaha as palace were the second lowest scorers last season. I would probably say take barnes if you looking to go past first 5 game weeks and mount if you switching to pulisic when he's fit.

              1. Guba
                • 8 Years
                3 years, 7 months ago

Yeah I do like the potential of mount it's just the uncertainty for me because I need a guaranteed start as I'll be using my bench already for gw1. Once Havertz starts he has to fight Kova/Jorg/RLC/Kante/Barkley for his spot. I think Kova is almost a guarantee personally so then it's 1 spot left.
I'll be monitoring Zaha ahead of their fixture swing in gw5 I think but yeah I wouldn't start with him.

                1. ivantys
                  • 3 Years
                  3 years, 7 months ago

Yeah true, my initial thoughts were just to pick him first before switching to pulisic in week 3, but too many "if"s making me want to change him now. I shall go with barnes for now. I've got ayew instead of mitro in my forwards so I actually rate palace highly just that I don't want both zaha and ayew in my team.

                  3 years, 7 months ago

Since it's just for 1 week, you could try zaha he's on form during pre season.

Nah not for me at first, I'll be going for a Lei midfielder for 1 week I think too. Perez for now if he gets the second striker role.

Anyone looking at starting with a Man City player on the bench, or is it too much money?

I want Sterling in my team in both GW2 and 3. Wolves and Leicester will be weak/have inexperienced players in their wide areas which Sterling could exploit.

Changes frequently and also dependent on further news, but currently:

          McCarthy
          TAA, Justin, Vinagre, (Johnson, Mitchell)
          Perez, Auba, Son, Bruno, Armstrong,
          Ings, Werner, (Davis)

          Playing 352 most weeks, 442 gw1.
          Perez -> Greenwood GW2
          Auba -> KDB GW3

It's only one gameweek so I disagree, plenty of cheap defenders have good first fixtures. The upside is you save a transfer which in the first few weeks can be massive jumping on the form players.

Sure, so it's saying that you're alternative has to beat a defender with a good fixture starting with -4. My point is that it's entirely reasonable to bench a player for 1 week with a very possible upside.

I'll probably get in Foden for GW5, but I'm targeting Pereira and Mitrovic in GW3.

          They have much better fixtures.

I can't really afford KDB because I have Mane and Aubameyang.

I like 5.5 MF more right now as honestly the 5.5 defenders aren't really all that appealing. More likely you go for a 5.0 defender and use the 0.5 elsewhere. I like Armstrong though for a few weeks to see how he looks.

Tierney is a miss for me until later. He'll likely start LCB with Gabriel being eased in which would dent his offensive ability, which is pretty much where his entire value is. I'll likely get him in once Arsenal's fixtures improve later and he's shifted back over.

I like it this way cos it meant that his price will be stable for at least a few weeks due to high ownership at the start. The 20+% ownership manchester players are the ones that will skyrocket in price from GW 2 onwards. I feel that week 2 ppl will be rushing for bruno/martial so greenwood would be safe and you can see whether he starts before getting him.

It's especially bad because teens/children use this site and innocently play FPL but are now having FFS promote gambling to them. Such a bad call by FFS.

i agree somewhat, but we also have saturation level gambling advertising in and around every match shown on tv, which presumably those same kids will be watching with their dads/mums - maybe the government should introduce tighter controls on the gambling advertising in general as it seems 50% of tv advertising is for gambling/bingo etc , which i don't think is ideal when so many people are unemployed or struggling to make ends meet - it's also just annoying when you are enjoying a match and every break is like ''bet now live in-play betting and you could get 17-1 that David Luiz changes his name on his shirt to Sideshow Bob during the second half'' (ie ridiculous speculative bets with tempting odds)....you get my drift, i think my point being that gambling advertising is a little too prevalent across the board

It’s not really about that. It’s not virtue signalling or kicking off about gambling. It’s more that it’s another thing that has been over run by gambling partners. Not like it’s just one..3 in a row. People just want to be able to enjoy something that isn’t tarnished by profiteering from huge companies. I’m a paid member so it’s a legitimate stand point. As is anyone else who’s paid for the subscription. I’m still using the site. Disappointed is all.

        Profiteering.

this is a more sensible approach, although I can't really see what there is to be disappointed about? it's just a few affiliate links which only pay if people click on them and bet, if people aren't interested then it won't make them any money. If people are interested then they will make them money - it's all personal choice and no-one is being forced to do anything

That seems to be the consensus.
Although I'd argue Greenwood & Bruno are better midfield options.
And Martial is a very good value striker

i'm hoping Martial will be the focal point for goals in the utd team, got more time this season with Bruno supplying chances, and mid boosted by VDB signing, hoping for good things - i've never liked Rashford as a pick, just doesn't pass the eye test for me as someone who i think could haul, i've no doubt he'll get a reasonable nbr of points, but would go Bruno for 1.0m more every time

There's advertising on the site because it's a media site.

If they advertised food on the site, that wouldn't make it a restaurant or supermarket either.

Most of the comments about the gambling are due to the people complaining. If they stopped, it would filter out and barely break through how FFS was a few weeks back.

Since when did a 'hot topic' not allow any comments and disappear from the list after one day?

Was hoping to ask if FFS receive money from the betting company everytime a referred loser/punter lose money to them ... ah well, another time then.
