The best Leeds players to keep on your FPL radar in Gameweek 2

Fantasy Premier League managers got a first look at Leeds United players in a 4-3 defeat to Liverpool in Gameweek 1 – but are their assets ready for mass FPL ownership?

Marcelo Bielsa’s men certainly entertained the neutrals at Anfield with their bold and free-flowing approach, finding the net three times at the home of the defending champions. Not a bad start to life back in the top flight.

To help refine our watchlist of Leeds options, we have taken a look at that match in more detail to get a better understanding of the Whites this season.

As this article uses Opta data only those with Fantasy Football Scout Premium Membership can access it in full.

What were the average positions of Leeds players?

I'm keeping Davies. Going to get rid of Alli. Haven't decided with who yet. Loads of options around that price point

I'm gonna keep Alli this week. His record against Saints is too good to ignore, and the fact Spurs have look very poor without him and that he's fully fit and rested means he should play a part.

It was Digne, Vardy and Justin. I pulled the trigger on Vinagre to Digne -4 for similar reasons to you, can't be doing with losing the .1 right now and the -4 should be paid back

I just think Spurs weren't too bad first half against Everton. Since he got pulled they've been dire.

And the best way for Mourinho to difuse the situation is to simply play him.

He's fit, rested, played well in the limited preseason and you would hope he'll be fired up to prove himself.

That said, After parking the bus Mourinho's second favourite thing in life is to cut off his nose to spite his face.

So, I'm not 100% sure he'll start. Hopeful at best. But I think having lost -0.1 on him i might as well stick as he's a real differential now. Never know, he may haul and start a bandwagon. Stranger things have happened!

Any reason Targett loses his place at LB for Villa? Cash has come in but will definitely play right back? They seem to have 4 right backs now and only one left back so that is worrying me. I guess they just need to move on a few so should be fine. Think he’s a great differential for next two games and better option than Ayling over this period.

I put Targett in last night as my Vinagre replacement. They have NTaylor who is rubbish by all accounts on the books who is a left back so I expect Targett to be first choice.

If Grealish continues to play on the left Targett could do well as I remember looking at this combintaion last season. There is talk Grealish goes central with some new players coming in which may negatively impact Targett. But hes 4.5m, and for a reason.

If I were to WC in GW3 I think I would like to following front 7:

    Sterling/Salah/Rodriguez/Podence/Greenwood
    Jiminez/Martial/Wilson

It means losing Doherty & only leaving me 8M for 2 defenders & I already have 2 :-). I could downgrade Greenwood to Fraser & get James & Lamptey, I suppose it depends on how much I want Greenwood.

It would also leave me with a benching headache potentially with having to bench either Podence or Wilson.

    1. Hotdogs for Tea
      • 8 Years

Podence is far from nailed so your benching headache may not materialise

      1. seanmcging

I have a feeling he's going to be a great option this year, especially if he can keep Jota out of the team & he did look good post lockdown.

    2. seanmcging
      • 14 Years

      I meant front 8 & I meant to say I already have 2 x 4.0 defenders.

    3. DandyDon

I also have Greenwood and Rodríguez (also going Sterling over KDB which I like short term) but the concern for me is the lack of other options outside those two at that price. I am just going with a 4.5 mid instead and will downgrade either player (Greenwood most likely) to Podence if they find themselves out of the team. Then gives me the option to upgrade a defender or striker with that two mil at the same time.

Wildcard activated, which option do you prefer?

    Martinez (Steer)
    TAA, Digne, Lamptey, AWB, (Mitchell)
    Auba, Salah, Trossard, James, (Bissouma)
    Martial, Richarlison
    0,5 itb

    Martinez, (Steer)

    Digne, Lamptey, Justin, (Siass, Mitchell)
    Auba, KDB, James, Foden, (Bissouma)
    Martial, Richarlison, Jimenez
    0 itb

Both teams will mean that Aubameyang become Salah/KDB nest GW.
Second team will switch one of the forwards to Trent after the games against Chelsea and Arsenal.

GW2 team sorted, started pondering...what sort of price would make Gareth Bale an attractive asset?

Although fpl towers might well price him far too high, he would be attractive in my mind at perhaps £10.5., especially given the fitness / Mourinho factor / poor form of Spurs and other risks attached, If he is listed as a forward then perhaps £10.00 would make me bite.

    Thoughts?

Benching headache between C. Taylor, Soucek and JWP. Currently have Taylor benched.

Playing Saiss, VVD and Egan at the back atm.

    Any advice appreciated!

I’d bench Soucek. Arsenal’s defence is amongst the most solid, as good as Soucek is arsenal away isn’t his type of game. Leicester looked impotent in attack aside from being gifted the penalties which Burnley won’t do. JWP looked the most influential Southampton attacker vs palace.
      JWP + Taylor for me

Does anyone think that bruno is not worth it at this price? His stats with no penalties are really average ,rashford and martial have much better stats at cheaper price. Also read somewhere that ole said him and rashford will share penalty duties.

I'm with this. He's worth 10.5m, but I'd rather spend more to get Salah, KDB, Sterling, Auba (i.e. two of them) with a sub-premium (JRod or a Chelsea mid when they're firing).

You don't buy a player 10.5 only for penalties, he did not score only penalties last season like people may think, he was always well placed in the box also.. I'm saying I prefer to see how they play with Van de Beek before buying

    Thoughts on this WC team?

    Martinez
    Robbo / Digne / AWB / Saiss / Ayling
    Auba / KDB / Greenwood / JRod //Bissouma//
    Jimenez / DCL //Brewster//

    - Auba to Salah in GW3
    - AWB to Chilwell later on
    - Could go to Chelsea easily by downgrading/upgrading one of the 7.5 mids

    Reece James or Saiss

    from GW3 onward

I use my WC this week and want to plan for a long term, wolves seem to have a better fixture

What would you do with a front 3 of Werner, Ings and Adams?

Nothing in the bank. Anything would be for a hit? Very tempted to stick but Martial and Everton attackers are tempting

Ings to Martial this week, or to Jimenez the next.

Any other United coverage? Frankly you can probably live without but Saits aren't looking great.

I am holding Ings myself this week, as going down the Jimenez route probably
