Scoutcast Episode 348 – Spurs and Chelsea players gather support

Joe and Az are joined by Andy for this week’s Scoutcast as they look ahead to Gameweek 5.

Tottenham Hotspur assets are in fine scoring form and about to head into a strong run of fixtures, so it is no wonder that the community questions in this latest Scoutcast are focused on Jose Mourinho’s men. Are Son Heung-min (£9.1m) and Harry Kane (£10.6m) players we should be definitely bringing in? And are both feasible without disrupting the balance of Fantasy Premier League managers’ squads? These questions and more about Spurs are considered by our trio.

The best of Chelsea has arguably not been seen yet this campaign. But with Christian Pulisic (£8.3m) and Hakim Ziyech (£7.9m) set to return from injury and Southampton up next, the community is pondering the merits of early investment in the Blues.

Meanwhile, the current international break has already produced a number of scares, from positive COVID-19 tests to injuries. Amid the pandemic, the Scoutcasters consider whether FPL managers need to alter the way they play, to cope with late sudden withdrawals due to the illness that has shocked the world.

Joe also attempts to make amends with his disastrous Dele Alli (£7.6m) differential pick in Gameweek 1. Can his latest low-owned gem succeed?

There is news of Fantasy Football Scout’s UEFA Champions League coverage, the next four fixtures are frisked and our trio reveal their transfer and captaincy plans.

      Nice. A bonus episode?

Will probably be half an hour late because of the England match... unless it sucks.

Havertz might be a safer chelsea option.
Not sure on the double Everton strikers, although I like the idea of rich as a differential.

Update on #wba and Karlan Grant. Terms of a transfer worth around £15m have been agreed and Grant will have a medical on Thursday. Clubs have been in talks since late 1986 (feels like it anyway). Slaven Bilic’s No 1 striker target ✅ #htafc
More on Grant; he is set to sign a six-year contract with #wba. The transfer fee will be spread over the period of that deal. Very much a Covid transfer

          Ya its a risk

I did this move myself this week ( but have sterling over Kdb so no issue), since i have a longer term plan (+ want son from gw 6-9) and need some money for below , moving for a -4 this week was a way to protect against spurs and give me some cash rise when i sell son in week 10 for KDB

I basically will have this then (week 10) when city and liverpool , and will just make it cash wish so with son rising took the unwanted -4,

GW 10 team (can get there now with no more hits and only 2-3 free transfers), will be selling Saiss, Justin and Son longterm to fund KDB* in week 10 who is the only one i dont currently have due to fixture swings

Is there someone out there kind enough to explain me why is England playing 5 defenders + 2 defensive midfielders playing at home vs Denmark?

    Mind boggling.

Since none of their defenders are very good individually, they need numbers.

      Sure, no problem 🙂

Generally teams have 5 defensive players, responsible for preparing attacks, and 5 attacking players looking to penetrate.

Defensive unit: Walker, Maguire, Coady, Phillips, Rice
Attacking Unit: AMN, James, Rashford, Kane, Mount

Here's England's assistant manager explaining the attacking shape: https://youtu.be/k3sAWHFZXoc

      Highly recommended video!

When both fullbacks move into the attacking 5, a more reserved midfield is needed for balance. Like Liverpool's for example:

Defensive 5: VVD, Gomez, Wijnaldum, Fabinho, Henderson

Attacking 5: Salah, Firmino, Mane, TAA, Roberton

        .
City have a bit of a mix atm, with 1 fullback and one midfielder pushing up.

Defensive 5: Laporte, Dias, Rodri, Gundogan, Walker
Attacking 5: Mendy, Sterling, Aguero, KDB, Bernardo

Champions league teams have really tough schedules, with all games importance and not a good oppertunity to rest players like in europa. May double up on Spurs and everton attack with 0 city assets.

Is it reasonable to save a FT this GW? Far from happy with my team, but all my kneejerks have backfired this season so thinking I should show patience with KDB/Bruno this GW before shifting them to Son/Salah.

We don't know for sure. But according to Villa ITKs including pro pundit Tom Freeman, it's probably Barkley.

I would say the odds are people on WC are gona get more than burned again same as week 3/4 wc teams .

    I see:

Liverpool will beat Everton and keep a clean
Villa is still Villa (at best fighting for top 12-10) and barkley / grealish are not xavi and iniesta, a tight draw or narrow loss
Chilwell looks a big doubt with that type of injury ,they can take unknown time to recover from or just rest from, bad time to get him in
People are still largely (though some are not) overlooking leeds defence, Wolves attacking stats are poor
Spurs and west ham will be a tight game,i see a 1-1 , son and Kane may do well, but no huge double digit returns people are expecting by making them (c)
People overlooking City on WC will also be hurt, Sterling should still in in teams with kdb news

Appreciate any feedback on this WC.

    McCarthy, (Button)
    TAA, Justin, KWP (Mitchell, Dunne)

Has Kane touched the ball since the first minute? I‘ve lost count of the times Mount has got behind the defence but failed to find a pass/cross

Not digging this England blue away kit (at home??) looks like an MLS side's effort, something the Oklahoma Oatmeals would wear.
