Scoutcast Episode 350 – Cheap strikers take centre stage in Halloween special

Joe and Az are joined by Karam to look ahead to Gameweek 7.

For the Scoutcast’s 350th episode, our trio get into the spirit of Halloween, with some frightening props and a scary set of sound effects.

The occasion seems timely after an abysmal Gameweek 6 for all three, where they all failed to reach the average score.

Is going more ‘casual’ the answer? The crew consider where they would be in the overall Fantasy Premier League rankings if they’d have done nothing since Gameweek 1. The pros and cons of under and over managing an FPL team are also considered as they look to turn around their season.

A rethink in defence may be needed, with former whipping boys showing signs of improvement.

Meanwhile, cheap strikers, such as Patrick Bamford (£5.9m), are back in vogue. Given the Leeds United forward’s hat-trick last time out it, is little wonder FPL managers are looking to cut costs as they attempt to boost points hauls up top.

Karam takes his turn to pick a differential. Taking into account the Scoutcasters’ previous choices struggle for gametime, even appearance points would be a victory.

There are next four fixtures to frisk, with a keen eye on West Ham and their budget striker Michail Antonio (£6.3m).

This episode finishes off with transfer and captaincy plans for the week ahead.

Something seems wrong about using 2FT on cheap defenders but seems like a solid shout

Play Kilman (CRY) or Mitchell (wol)?
Have Saiss, so would you play double Wolves DEF or hope neither team scores more than 1 goal?

Double wolves is risky, so I’d just ride the luck on Mitchell

Egan will most likely drop before deadline, so if you're not planning to keep him long term, I would do Egan -> Coufal this week.

Aguero > Werner, Vardy, Ings, Jimenez?
Or save and play one of the subs?

    Martinez,
    Chilwell, Kilman, Konsa
    Son, Salah, Grealish, Zaha
    Kane, DCL, Aguero
    subs: Bissouma, Lamptey, Mitchell

Ings is the safe, reliable pick. Alternatively you could take advantage of Chelsea's fixtures and go for Werner then switch to Vardy in GW10.

    B) Chilwell, Zaha, Ings

    Captain: Mbappe or Haaland?
    Play 1: Chilwell or Ocampos?

      Play Chilwell.

Betting odds suggest Haaland but in my opinion Mbappe is the better option. Basaksehir is a weaker team than Zenit and CBs are both 35 years old. I doubt they can keep up with Mbappe/Neymar.

    Martinez (Steer)
    Dallas Lamptey Robbo (Mitchell, Dunne)
    Son Salah Grealish Pulisic (Mendy)
    DCL Kane Maupay

Been pretty dissapointed with Lamptey and Maupay, any suggestions on what I should do welcome 🙂

Maybe change Maupay to Adams and use rest to upgrade a defender (perhaps chelsea)

In the same boat, I’m looking at Maupay to bamford and roll the other. Aiming to build towards KDB/Sterling by GW10

Needing some help; is anyone getting rid of DCL for the next couple gameweeks or not worth it? (Due to Digne and Richarlison out). Really fancy Ings for the season now and I don't have a premium def.
Def - Saiss, Kilman, KWP, (Dallas) (Dunne)
    Atk - DCL, Kane, Wilson.

    Been debating for -4
    A) DCL to Ings and Dallas to Zouma/James or 5.5 defender.
    B) Wilson to Ings and Dallas to 4.4m defender.
    C) Wilson to Che Adams and Dallas to Robertson/Chilwell

It's something I've been giving some thought, although it could backfire. Ings is a great pick admittedly, although I'm not sure why you would want to get rid of Dallas.

I have exact money to do DCL to Werner which is tempting given Chelsea's fixtures.

I just feel like KWP has better fixtures and will score more over them.

Yeah that's very true, only reason I'd lean towards Ings over Werner is for pens, Chelsea are going to score well over the next few fixtures, so much players who could score well. Especially if Ziyech is back.

    Hi all

What are your plans from GW9 when Spurs fixtures turn?

I will most likely keep Son and switch Kane out for a few GW's. Aguero (if fit) could be gold with those fixtures...

I'd hold for this week, but keep an eye on JRod's fitness.

If Everton look poor again then consider switching out DCL or JRod.
