FPL team reveals: The best five Hall of Fame managers’ Gameweek 1 drafts

The top five managers in Fantasy Football Scout’s Hall of Fame have all exclusively revealed their Fantasy Premier League (FPL) teams ahead of Friday’s Gameweek 1 deadline.

These are the cream of the crop; the FPL bosses who haven’t just racked up one outstanding overall rank but several of them.

They are as follows:

  • Fábio Borges: The Hall of Fame number 1. Has finished in the top 5k in each of the last five seasons and never outside of the top 20,000.
  • Tom Stephenson: Five-time top 5k finisher and 13 consecutive top 40k overall ranks.
  • Finn Sollie: Seven top 10k finishes in the last 11 seasons, including an overall rank of 39th in 2020/21.
  • Morten Tveito: Four straight top 10k overall ranks, three of which have been 1,051st or better.
  • Yavuz Kabuk: Seven successive top 10k finishes and eight in all, featuring two in the top 1,000.

The Hall of Famers have been good enough to share their drafts with us ahead of Gameweek 1 although we’ve respected the wishes of two of them to not have their names attached to a particular team reveal, so have instead anonymised all five.

The only interesting thing with those 5 drafts is that there is nothing interesting. Sarr is the only outfield differential and I don't expect anyone of them having him when the game starts.

I can't remember a season that started with so much template. The death of FPL

Kindly underpricing defenders is part of the reason.
Only hope Lukaku & Kane will break it.

          Yes, and overpricing many players.
And also underpriced mids, like Raphinha and Barns, Foden

And I think a lot of players are overpriced,
          Mane, Firmino, Vardy, Sterling

          Pep roulette,

          Tuchel roulette

          Question marks around Spurs

etc.. People want to start safe.

Best way to get ahead in my mind. Go with something different. Chelsea/City assets slept on and can easily produce big numbers. Likewise for Leicester such as Vardy.

Surely that's the best way to start? Template, then when we have more solid information, move quickly on value picks/good bandwagons?

    Sanchez
    TAA - Tsimi - Coufal
Salah - Bruno - Son - Greenwood- Raphina
    Antonio - Toney

Steele - Obafemi- Amartey - Omobamidele

I believe in strong starting eleven and will think about bench after GW 2 or 3. So please rate my starting eleven.

Not 3 x 4.0 defs, might as well make it 2 x 4.5 defs and tsimikas. Villa might bite you if you don’t pick Ings or Watkins

Its one of those where he could, like last season start, be the most overpriced dead end ever. The faith is there and you'll be in trouble if he sets fire. The set pieces and attacking play we 'expect' of pool x the fixtures mean that like No bruno, its far too risky.

      Again depends on the keepers.

Personally think Veltman is good. Taylor/Lowton are being slept on too; fixtures aren’t that bad and Burnley reliable for clean sheets.

Ayling of course is a popular choice but Leeds had a poor pre season.

      I’d go Veltman and C.Taylor.

      Opportunity Cost

That's the name of the game, you can't have them all. But as the deadline approaches, managers begin to question their picks: "If I take Greenwood I won't have Jota". If you've had your pick locked for multiple drafts and this type of question pops up, stay calm. You have to accept that you'll miss out on some points either way but trust your gut. If no news has come up about Greenwood and Jota, and you've had Greenwood, try not to panic when there are seconds left to the deadline. Make an informed decision and stick with it. The sting is worse if you change your mind last second and it doesn't work out rather than if you stick with your gut and it doesn't work out.

When you have Bruno, Shaw, TAA & Salah you have 100% of both Liverpool & Man Utd’s corners, IFK’s, DFK’s & penalties

Greenwood & Jota with the uncertainty that hangs over both in the 3-4 game horizon are ok to swerve for me, and the Tsimkas bone we’ve all been thrown seals the deal for him as 3rd pool

Much rather tap into another attack like Leciester/Leeds (who are almost as prodigious as Pool/Utd)

That’s where guys like Barnes, Maddison, Raphinha are better to lean on imo

Even punt on a Gundogan or a Brealish if you really, really must - but I can see City starting slowly like last year again - pre season must have been tricky for them

In terms of the XI yes. You could go 4.5m mid (gilmour/brownhill) as you have cover for W.Ham and upgrade bench player to Digne and play a 4-4-2. or not.

Interesting, hadn't really considered that option...

Arguably a Digne or even a Coufal might be a better shout than Benrahma

Yeah, more balance. Having 12 playing is much better than 11. Like MUCH better.

Leicester are signing Vestegaard. This makes Amartey not even going to play in GW2 and GW3.

To be fair. The purpose of the 4.0 DEF is just hoping I can get 0.1 boosted price when I sell him at 4.2. So I'm looking for someone to sit on the bench and looking for the ones who is likely to get the price boost.

Whats the consensus on how long KDB is out?

Not sure. |Flagged at 25% normally means a few weeks. Foden is out for 4-5 weeks so I think KDB beats him back to the XI.

anyone going for armstrong at 6

Only Ivan Toney (£6.5m) with 31 goals outscored Armstrong’s 28 in the Championship, with the latter doing so in a team that finished in the bottom half.

Good question and if they're not doing so, for an established PL team, is the love for Toney justified?!

Don’t hate it, early wc more than likely for you when tsimi and smarty is toast and Liverpool are churning clean sheets and you have no cover but not a bad thing
