Calvert-Lewin misses out as Everton host Burnley

In the final match of Gameweek 4, Everton hope to go four games unbeaten when they entertain Burnley at Goodison Park.

Kick-off is at 20:00 BST.

The big news for Fantasy Premier League (FPL) managers is that there is no Dominic Calvert-Lewin (£8.2m) in the matchday squad.

Toffees manager Rafa Benitez provided an update prior to kick-off:

As a result, it looks like a potential back-three formation for Everton, with Richarlison (£7.5m) leading the line and new signing Salomon Rondon (£6.0m) on the bench.

Captain Seamus Coleman (£5.0m) starts after the hamstring injury he suffered on international duty turned out to be minor, Fabian Delph (£4.4m) misses the game with a shoulder injury, while James Rodriguez (£6.9m) sits out due to match fitness issues.

As for Burnley, club record-signing Maxwel Cornet (£6.0m) is a substitute, with Sean Dyche sticking with the same starting XI that drew with Leeds United in Gameweek 3.

Connor Roberts (£4.5m), Nathan Collins (£4.4m) and Dale Stephens (£4.5m) are all missing from the matchday squad.

LINE-UPS

Everton XI: Pickford, Godfrey, Keane, Mina, Coleman, Allan, Doucoure, Digne, Gray, Townsend, Richarlison

Subs: Begovic, Kenny, Holgate, Iwobi, Gomes, Gordon, Gbamin, Davies, Rondon

Burnley XI: Pope, Lowton, Tarkowski, Mee, Taylor, Gudmundsson, Westwood, Brownhill, McNeil, Barnes, Wood

Subs: Hennessey, Cork, Rodriguez, Lennon, Cornet, Pieters, Barnsley, Vydra, Thomas

Benitez says DCL could be out for 2-3 but cautions "maybe more".

So that, potentially, rules DCL out (after Burnley): Villa (a), QPR, Norwich, United

Feels like an easy enough decision, unless you fancy two premiums up top.

That's why you don't sell Antonio on a whim overnight.

Had a spare transfer. Couldn't get Bamford for free. Now I can.

Rafa Benitez has provided an update on Dominic Calvert-Lewin...

"He has broken his toe. He was training with problems and playing with pain. He had an injury the other day to his quadriceps and we have to wait two-to-three weeks, maybe more."

did Rafa say what changed from the presser 3 days ago when DCL was training and fine and not injured?

Yes he said DCL injured his quadriceps on the last day of training. So 3 days ago Rafa was only talking about the toe injury (not saying he is 100% honest but that's what he said)

Actually will probably hold Antonio and play Sissoko against Norwich. I've got Raphinha, so could be DCL to Richarlison for me instead of Bamford.

reddit fpl sub is good for any fpl news, you need to browse it tho for individiual posts, as in there wont be a list but there will be threads about individual players.
FPL sub is the best for anything FPL, hopefully people realise this soon, bets content and discussion by a mile

Does the DCL news make this a no brainer wildcard?

    Sanchez, Steele
    Trent, Shaw, White, Veltman, Tsimikas
    Bruno, Greenwood, Benrahma, Barnes, Brownhill
    Kane, DCL, Antonio

    Bank 0.1m, 1FT

    1. TheDragon
      • 5 Years
      2 years, 6 months ago

      Yes

Benrahma, Barnes, DCL need to go and you need to get at least 1 of Ronaldo / Lukaku

      So it’s minimum a -8

I dont want to encourage anybody to spunk their wildcard but you will be a little thin this gameweek and 7 of your players should be in European action this week. I would forget about price rises and play it after thurs night games when you have latest data. Having said that I am hanging on to mine (hopefully) until later (gw7 or gw13).
      Good luck whatever you decide.

Hi all, could use your help in deciding

    Sanchez
    Shaw Coufal Duffy Livramento (Amartey)
    Salah Fernandes Jota Greenwood Benrahma
    Lukaku (Antonio) (Perica)

    Would you

    A. Fernandes Amartey Perica to Sisoko TAA and DCL for a -8?
    B. Fernandes Amartey to Raphinha and TAA for a -4?
    C. Wildcard
    D. Do nothing and play Liv against MCI

Was going to WC GW 7 but starting to think of shifting for that team now given some injuries.

    Sanchez, Steele
    TAA, Shaw, Digne, Ayling, Amartey
    Greenwood, Salah, Traore, Benhrama, Brownhill
    Antonio, Ronaldo, DCL

    1ft 0.0ITB.

He can hit them - but he'll be the deepest of Digne/Coleman/Doucoure filling in space. That said he pivoted well in previous matches, but that was in a 442.. so hard to guess how that affects his movement into attacking positions.
