Suspensions

Which FPL players are nearing a one-match ban?

Those who keep an eye on the Suspension Tightrope widget on our homepage will be aware that the yellow cards are steadily racking up for several Premier League players.

The respite provided by the October international break seems like a good time to take stock of the disciplinary situation around the top flight, particularly as two Fantasy Premier League assets (FPL) are now just a booking away from a ban after only seven Gameweeks of 2021/22.

The yellow card amnesty is not until after the completion of a team’s 19 league fixtures (more on that later), after which the threshold moves up from five to ten bookings.

Those Fantasy Premier League assets already sitting on three and especially four cautions still have a long way to go before they are in the clear, then.

ON FOUR YELLOW CARDS

Sarr underlines differential potential as Chelsea earn another clean sheet 3

The two players who are currently a solitary yellow card away from suspension are Watford’s Emmanuel Dennis (£5.3m) and Tottenham Hotspur’s Oliver Skipp (£4.5m).

Budget forward Dennis is the big name from an FPL perspective, sitting in over 10% of squads.

Those four bookings haven’t come out of the blue, either: he has committed more fouls (20) than any other Premier League player this season.

ON THREE YELLOW CARDS

 1

There are some notable names among the throng of players on three bookings, too.

Paul Pogba (£7.8m) is the most selected, boasting an FPL ownership of 21.4% at the time of writing.

The Frenchman is behind only Dennis for fouls conceded in 2021/22, with 16.

Brighton defender Joel Veltman (£4.4m), bench fodder option Josh Brownhill (£4.5m) and the game’s joint-third highest-scoring midfielder, Abdoulaye Doucoure (£5.6m) are part of this group, too.

The full list is as follows:

WHEN ARE THE CUT-OFF POINTS FOR SUSPENSIONS?

FPL Gameweek 7 Scout Picks built on Chelsea triple-up

As we mentioned in the introduction, the yellow card threshold is raised to ten after 19 league fixtures.

For all teams, that currently means following the completion of Gameweek 19 on Boxing Day.

Chelsea’s involvement in the Club World Cup in December would presumably cause the Blues to have a Blank Gameweek, however, and would likely push their 19th league fixture back – although there are suggestions the tournament could be moved to February.

And any other Premier League postponements, whether they be weather-related or Covid-enforced, would naturally change the situation further.

The threshold for ten yellow cards is after 32 league matches, which will be April at the earliest.

Players collecting ten bookings before that point will serve a two-game ban.

Punishments for yellow card accumulation are competition-specific, whereas suspensions for dismissals cover all competitive matches.

Keep your eyes peeled on our Suspension Tightrope widget over the coming weeks and months, as we’ll be updating that after every Gameweek to keep you informed on the latest disciplinary developments.

*If I go Duffy over Veltman, will have exact funds to go Toney over Armstrong.

Prefer Hwang Lee to Armstrong. Foden still a huge rotation risk. I’d want a guarenteed chelsea defender aswell tbh. Looks decent though

    Sanchez 4.0

Feel like I’m in a decent position but could make some good changes

Don't think that team needs a WC.

Everybody looking to swap Ronaldo by Lukaku, but am pretty sure he can easily outscore him even with harder fixtures...

He has struggled to score more than 2pts in last 2 games... (Same is true for Luka but still...)

This week coming I'd happily back against Leicester defence. The issue only rises for me in the run from 9-11.

      Maybe next week, but...
Lukaku vs NOR, Ronaldo vs LIV
      Lukaku v NEW, CR7 v TOT
      Lukaku v BUR, CR7 v MCI
      ...not a chance

Would appreciate your expert opinions on this situ:

    Current Team... 0.9itb 0FT

    Sanchez (Foster)
    Rudiger Digne TAA (White, Livramento)
    Salah Raphina Torres Greenwood (Gilmour)
    Toney Lukaku Antonio

I'd like to get rid of Torres, Greenwood and Digne.

    1) WC
    2) Take a hit to get Torres out
    3) Hold and hope Torres plays vs Burnley

    Thanks guys!

      That's surely not a WC

Would give Torres the next one personally. Greenwood Digne to Cancelo plus cheap would have you back on course.

I'd say I've a fascination rather than an interest in cricket. I know very little about it but there's a cricket club in my hometown in the west of Ireland because we have a Halal meat factory and a Pakistani community. I listened to this last night. What a voice Mr Holding has! I tried NFL FF so would give IPL fantasy a try.

Cool! Newcomers to the game welcome. Just for fun, no entry fee /prizes (maybe a phone or some memorabilia if you land a great OR). Next edition should be April, guess I'll post the league code here (if that's alright with mods) so look out for that if still interested

    What’s the feeling on Foden?
Looking great yesterday - constant threat, scored one, heavily involved in second. Need someone on bench behind as there’s always gonna be a threat of rotation but with his form and fixtures am sorely tempted to get on WC?

Yes. I'm very tempted. I think TAA being fit or not will likely decide whether he makes the team because I can't make a squad I'm happy with that has both.

Yep, as long as someone to cover off the bench I think he's a great option for the next few at least.

    On WC. Which is better?

    A) Son, Townsend, Toney
    B) Foden, ESR, Jesus

Bench is Livra, Manquillo, Brownhill so should just about cover City no shows.

Bit vague but somewhat promising news about Raphinha:
    https://twitter.com/GrahamSmyth/status/1444991553198514176?t=QSeJDDXhcQ8IBKALnWROIA&s=19

"Despite the solution, which was criticised by Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp, Raphinha’s involvement in Leeds’ next outing appeared in doubt due to the short gap between Brazil’s Arena da Amazônia clash with Uruguay in Manaus at 1.30am on Friday October 15 and Leeds’ trip to St Mary’s, which kicks off the following day at 3pm.

But the YEP understands the Whites expect Raphinha to be present and available for selection, which will come as good news for Bielsa."

Weekly update on Top 10K Finally League

Team of the week was Pukki House with a crushing 70 pointer despite getting Jim captain wrong over Mo VC. Ron and Rom were evenly split for captaincy elsewhere. The 6 Mo captainers did well of course but didn't dominate the weekly standings as you might expect - round about 50 point average for them. Better than average but not significantly.

Chelsea defence was way up but with just two on Azpi and one on Chilwell that didn't exactly pay. Feel sure all the Alonsos were playing the long term value game anyway 🙂

An interesting one is only 6 have Toney and two have Mbeumo with one Pinnock and Raya. Brentford are right now completely out of fashion just before an immense fixture turn with two of their defenders in the top 5 points scorers already. Fated to be unfashionable?

15 wildcards are still to come.
