The 2022/23 UEFA Champions League (UCL) is back on Tuesday and Wednesday – which means it’s time for the competition’s official Fantasy game.

With prizes dished out every Matchday, UCL Fantasy also offers an incentive for managers to belatedly enter a team even if you are yet to sign up.

Our Champions League content continues this week as FPL Milanista (aka Obay) shares two potential Wildcard drafts for Matchday 3.

ENTER A UCL FANTASY TEAM HERE

UCL Fantasy: Milanista

As UEFA Champions League action returns today, many Fantasy managers will be hitting the Wildcard in Matchday (MD) 3.

Although I am on a different strategy myself (Wildcard MD2/Limitless MD3), I will be covering the teams I would personally like to target this week as well as putting together two potential Wildcard drafts to hopefully help the majority of you decide on your last-minute dilemmas.

A MD3 Wildcard is a very favourable approach as it offers an opportunity to aggressively target MD3/MD4 fixtures in one hit (identical fixtures but reversing home/away sides), so without further ado let’s get started with the top-tier sides that need to form the core of any MD3 Wildcard side in my opinion.

TEAMS TO TARGET

FPL Gameweek 10 Scout Picks early selection: ... 1

First on the list is Bayern Munich. The German champions are in fine form and have a couple of fixtures against Viktoria Plzen that scream Fantasy points. Leroy Sane (€9.1m) has been exceptional in the first two UCL games, but several rumours are predicting him to start on the bench later tonight (make sure to check the line-ups as we get them before the MD3 deadline). If he is in fact benched, I’d strongly consider Jamal Musiala who scored once and assisted twice over the weekend and is only €7m. Lastly, there is every possibility that Sadio Mane (€10.5m)starts up front today with Thomas Muller (€10.0m) missing out, a very tempting option if it happens.

Thank you for reading. I hope this article was helpful for anyone playing their Wildcard for MD3. Best of luck everyone.

    Better Salah replacement?

Well the 8m mids have now really reared their heads if you look at this weekend. Plus with the likes of Zaha having his fixtures turn now, there’s a lot of options to choose from and it’s easy to spread the cash as the template shifts

Bench Toney. He's playing away against a solid Newcastle side. Martinelli is at home for the league leaders against a defense that just isn't working at the moment.

    Thinking of WCing this week

    Kepa Ward
    James Cancelo Trippier Guehi Mings
    Foden Maddison Trossard Zaha Martinelli
    Haaland Kane Solange

    GW11: hoping to save FT
GW12: Foden to Diaz (bench 2 City, 1 Ars)
    GW13: get City & Pool (using 2FT + hit)

    Thoughts?
    GW12: bench

Booking in one transfer is at least an advantage over those booking in 2 on their WC, but maybe still not an advantage on those who are saving their WC 😀 I don't know your current team, but I have the suspicion that I would probably try to save the WC if I were you

            Current team

            Ward Iversen
            TAA James Cancelo Tripp Neco
            Martinelli Maddison Diaz Andreas Bailey
            Kane Haaland Jesus

            My reasoning to WC
Relying on Bailey, Andreas, Neco in BGW12 ?
Diaz, TAA points potential looks low vs Arsenal & City

            1. Deulofail
              • 9 Years
              3 years, 2 months ago

I would do Diaz > Zaha
And maybe take a hit this week to replace Bailey or Neco

Use 1 FT on Arse/City and the other on either Arse/City or Neco/Andreas/Bailey

Your reasons are good, but it does seem (relatively) easily manageable to me. Even without a hit. Compared to others, you're not in a bad position imo. Owning Trent for these fixtures is the main downside, but then you'll have him for nice fixtures from GW12 as well.

    How's this for Kneekerk:

    KDB / Bailey / Paqueta to Foden / Maddison / Trossard -4

I mean it's the most kneejerk move going, BUT, it does remove Bailey + Paqueta from my starting 11

Either that or Kane out, Toney In AND keep KDB, plus the other two moves?

Kane out instead does leave you with more flexibility to get Salah in if form and fixtures improve - you can always get Son in too to cover Spurs if needed.

Lots of rumour that Klopp will be going with a 4-2-3-1 formation.

If this is the case it makes Firmino/Jota far better options as it will make them far more likely to start.

Equally, it could give Pool a much needed bounce.

One to monitor closely this evening…

He has only played 177 minutes of PL football. Much due to him getting the straight red card. Not a great way to start his career at LFC but he does not have a history of red cards.

Think the 3 match ban set him back. He just needs minutes now to kick things off.

Have to hope Nunez starts and Liverpool revert back to the directness they showed.

However, Firmino’s form and Jota’s capability suggests we won’t see it for a little longer.

All can change if Nunez scores a few tonight, but I doubt it.

    Ward (Sanchez)
    Cancelo, Trippier, James (Gabriel, Neco)
    Diaz, Gordon, Martinelli, KDB (Dasilva)
    Haaland, Mitro, Jesus

2FT but have been priced out of Diaz & Gordon to Maddison and Zaha. Will still do Diaz to Maddison, but with it should I:
    a. Roll other FT
    b. Gordon to £7.2m mid (probably Brighton or Leeds)
    c. Downgrade Gabriel to Guehi to lose Arsenal assets ahead of GW12

If Mitro out, I think it would be A plus Mitro to Toney

    My plan A was:

    gw10: roll a FT
    gw11: Kdb to Son
gw12: Son to Salah (and Jesus to someone to have 11 starting players)

    Plan B
However I am starting to consider keeping Kdb for the long run. He could be a better premium than Salah after all

Personally wouldn’t have played the WC at this point. But, I will help 🙂

First, you have 4 players blanking GW12. Not ideal, but which would you get rid?

Move Williams on. Get Guehi with the spare cash in the bank.

Fofana is an unknown. No idea if he starts to be honest.

Solanke on the bench seems like a waste of funds. I’d use that to move up from Iversen.

I think 343 or 433 is still fine to go with. I have Kane and Haaland up top though so 5th playing mid may just outscore the mid priced forwards with the midfielders finally hitting the ground running.

I’d only say Kane because he plays GW12.

Trust KdB a lot more to return.

Forwards have been leading the points table for weeks.

12 midfielders with a total score of >40pts
Only 5 forwards. Of whcih one everyone has, so really picking from 4 options.

We were all waiting for the 8m mids to come crawling out from underneath their rocks.

Was going to ask this forum what defenders I should target as I need to replace Patterson/Targett for GW12.

Targett could still play of course.

I have the money to do Targett > James.

It feels right but not sure I’ve seen the evidence to suggest using funds for defence.

However, Kante is back. I’d expect him to play Saturday.

    James get in my team.

      Wait for Mitro news first.

Wouldn’t get Foden now because of GW12 blank.

      Sini > Trossard?

        Could do the moves above.
