Our team of Pro Pundits, Hall of Famers and guest contributors offer their Fantasy Premier League (FPL) insight, tips, team reveals and advice throughout the season, with only Premium Members able to access every single article they write.

Here, former FPL champion Simon March reveals what his Gameweek 10 Wildcard currently looks like.

FPL team reveal: Why I've picked Vardy over Haaland and Kane

My Gameweek 10 Wildcard has been planned for a while now but, sadly for me, it’s not being deployed from a position of strength.

Gameweek 9 continued a recent blip that saw me fall into the three million rank bracket and, although by far the biggest part of that is my seemingly pathological inability to back Man City’s Erling Haaland (£12.2m) with the captaincy rather than my overall team doing particularly badly, I wouldn’t exactly blame you for skipping straight to the comment section right now.

If you’re still here, let’s continue. Despite everything, my overall strategy hasn’t really changed that much; I wanted to look at the opening 16 Gameweeks before the World Cup break in two segments; pre and post-Wildcard.

Then, attack them as aggressively as possible, based on fixture runs and the teams not competing in Europe who therefore have a far kinder schedule.

I obviously can’t play it too safe, being in such a low position, but I’m also not ready to panic just yet. I genuinely do enjoy the challenge of trying to turn around a faltering FPL season, especially when there is still time to do so. I’ve done it before so hopefully, it can be done again.

Goalkeepers

FPL 2022/23 'sleeper' picks: David Raya

Leicester City’s Danny Ward (£4.1m) retains his position as bench fodder but a clean sheet on Monday against Nottingham Forest might hint that more are coming.

David Raya (£4.5m) comes in as my main keeper ahead of a good run of fixtures. He currently ranks third for saves made and the Bees’ tendency to concede shots from outside the box could work in his favour when it comes to accruing save points, reminiscent perhaps of when Nick Pope (£5.3m) was at Burnley (I mean, Brentford even have Ben Mee (£4.5m) now).

Defence

FPL team news: Live updates of Gameweek 28 injury updates

Defence is where I’m seeking to cut costs with Chelsea’s Reece James (£6.0m) and Newcastle United’s Kieran Trippier (£5.5m) being my only two premium defenders. We already know what these two can offer at both ends of the pitch and, with good upcoming fixtures, they’re both fairly obvious inclusions.

Beyond that, I’m bargain-hunting with Crystal Palace’s Marc Guehi (£4.3m) and Wolves’ Max Kilman (£4.5m). Apart from their low cost and a decent run of fixtures, both have the appeal of no European distractions or the associated rotation threat, something I think will come heavily into play now that the top teams will be playing approximately every three days until the break.

Nottingham Forest’s future World Cup winner Neco Williams (£4.1m) offers low-cost bench cover and attacking potential between now and the World Cup (which he will, of course, win).

Liverpool’s Trent Alexander Arnold (£7.3m) and Manchester City’s Joao Cancelo (£7.2m) have both made way for me. The latter was more difficult to say goodbye to but City face Liverpool in Gameweek 11 and then blank in Gameweek 12, so it’s a risk worth taking in the short term.

Too early to jump off Jesus?
    (used my wc)

Thinking of shaking things up and i really fancy getting Wilson for his scoring streak before he crooked again.

    Gundo➡️Maddison
    Odegaard➡️Zaha
    Jesus➡️Wilson (to raise the cash)

    Minus 4

179 in the world! Cant't believe it.

    Pope
    Cancelo, James, Trippier
    Foden, Bowen, Maddison, Martinelli
    Kane, Haaland, Mitrovic*
    Ward, Guehi, Andreas, Neco

    2FT 0.2 ITB

    1) Presuming Mitrovic OK
    A) Bowen to Zaha
    B) Pope to ?
    C) Other

    2) If Mitrovic not OK
    A) Mitrovic to Solanke
    B) Pope downgrade and Mitro to Wilson/Watkins
    C) Mitro to 4.3 and Andreas to Zaha (might cause GW12 trouble)

Got almost the same team. Not james but Cucu instead. Also got 2 FT.
Will prob do Pope and Marti to Guita and Zaha.

Marti got Pool and blank next 3 so am not worried to lose him for a while. Also I would like to have 2 FT to swap in Arsenal players after their blank again so rather do this transfer now.

Got almost the exact same team as you except Zaha for Bowen and Paterson for Guehi. And I'm doing Patterson -> Guehi. In your place, I'd do Pope -> Guaita (+ Mitro -> Wilson if Mitro out).

Thoughts on what to do this week? 1FT & £1.8itb (still have my WC to play)...

    Pope

    Cancelo / TAA / Cucurella / Trippier / Gabriel

    KDB / Martinelli / Maddison

    Haaland (C) / Jesus

subs: Ward / Dasilva / Andreas / Taylor

    1. Cheeky Onion

Toying around with a GW13 WC - thoughts?

    Guaita
    Trippier - Saliba - James
    Madders - Zaha - Foden - Marti
    Haaland - Kane - Jesus

    Ward - S. Gomez - Andreas - Neco

Leaves 1.1m ITB, but where to use it? Could do Guaita + S. Gomez > Ederson + Mee

Hi, any feedback would be welcome 🙂

    Sanchez
    Cancelo James Perisic Trippier
    Maddison Diaz Martinelli
    Haaland Kane Jesus
    (Ward KDH Neco Bailey)

    GTG?
Would be good to have 2 FT next week for sth like Cancelo+Bailey > Guehi+Zaha for free
I know Perisic needs to go but dunno who for and I need to sort out the blank
Also, play Sanchez or Ward? Annoyingly went with Sanchez last week

    Thanks!

I'm seriously considering Kepa. Looks like it's his place to lose now and the fixtures are really good for Chelsea.

Someone talk me out of it. Which 4.5m GK would you go for instead?

Considering Neto, Pickford, Guaita, Raya as well.

Not huge on Neto or Pickford because of the teams, Guaita has the best fixtures but Palace have lots of injury worries and he is not 100% nailed. Raya looks the safest but safe isn't always best.

If you can I'd just hold Pope and do saka + bilva to maddison + zaha. No need to spend 4 points on a GK transfer. If you need the funds, I'd say prioritise Maddison over Zaha; his immediate fixtures are a bit better IMO.

    Can somebody help me?

I’m having an excellent season, but for me, I have a constant battle with FPL and normal life. It’s a personal thing…

I deactivated my team before last GW by deleting my FPL account. However, I wanted to keep going because it’s giving me a lot of enjoyment so far.

It’s says I have 21 days until it’s deleted, but reactivated if I log back in during this time.

Does this mean it’s reactivated for good and my team won’t be deleted?

    Cheers!

      • 16 Years

      Activate it

You don’t take a break mid season imo

I did full season breaks 2 times but when I play I play

      1. Athletic Nasherbo
        • 8 Years
        3 years, 2 months ago

What I’m saying tho is will it still delete?

Because the wording suggests reactivating only works for the 21 day period and then it’s deleted regardless

    2. Baines on Toast...
      • Fantasy Football Scout Member
      • 15 Years

If you log back in within 21 days, your team will be re-instated fully. It'll give you a weird GW rank for that week, but then your points and OR will be reconciled by the end of the following week. (I did it in GW2)

If you don't log back in at all within this period, then your team (and history) will be deleted for good.

To be clear: It'll reactivate and the deletion will be cancelled. It will only then delete if you do the same thing again and don't log in for 21 days.

From now until Gw16 (for one of Emerson R or Patterson)

    A) Zouma or
    B) Guehi?

Zouma has more goal threat, but Guehi the better fixtures imo

Trent (out of the first two)

Don't know your team and situation so can't judge the third option

I would get James. WC left to bring him back later?

      1. Why Sanchez and not Guaita/Kepa/Pickford? All have better fixtures
      2. Sterling over Kane/KDB/Salah is spicy (maybe a bit too spicy for me!) - although I hear he looked decent yesterday, playing just behind Aubameyang.
      3. Assuming you want an Arsenal defender, I'd maybe do White over Saliba at this point, particularly given Arsenal's blank in GW12. Saliba's a bit expensive to be a benchwarmer IMO.

        1. As soon as I manage to save a ft I will use it on gk 🙂 Guaita is the man for me xD
        2. Those 3 are too expensive right now, but will look to get Kane in a week or two.
        3. Saliba got me a bunch of points so wouldn’t loose him yet. Bought him for 4.5 and now is 5.0 😀

The Fofana injury last night has made me recalibrate WC as I still like the Chelsea double-up in defence. Taking a punt on Shaw to show what he is capable of in the next two. Preliminary plan is to bring in TAA in GW12 at the expense of Bowen. 0.0 ITB

    Kepa (Ward)
    James Trippier Shaw (Justin) (Guehi)
    Foden Bowen Maddison Zaha (Martinelli)
    Haaland Kane Wilson

      I doubt Shaw even starts.

I have got same city/arsenal to solve for GW12
Think you'd need to take out one of those
Can't suggest who because I'm myself unable to decide lol

I would like to remove Cancelo but that would be a mistake before Southampton. Thinking bout Cancelo to Chilly maybe ?
I would also like to upgrade Mac Allister

Maybe Saliba out for someone like Guehi, then roll the other transfer?

I'm keeping them all until GW12. Plan is to bin KdB in 12 and then use 2FTs in 13 to switch to Foden + Jesus.

I haven't decided my strategy yet but worst case I'll make sure I'll end up 2FT away from bringing them all back in GW13.

I like Simon's normal articles but I am not reading another "team reveal". I'm better than that, and I know it.
