Today’s second of two Premier League matches takes place at Old Trafford, where Manchester United host Nottingham Forest in the 20:00 GMT kick-off.

Four points behind Tottenham Hotspur but with two games in hand, the Red Devils will expect a home win against 19th-placed Forest.

Anthony Martial‘s (£6.7m) minutes have been managed during recent matches and he gets the nod here, leading the line with Marcus Rashford (£6.7m) and Antony (£7.5m) on either side of him.

Popular Fantasy Premier League (FPL) picks Bruno Fernandes (£9.8m) and Luke Shaw (£4.8m) also start, although it’s uncertain how their defence will line up. Diogo Dalot (£4.8m) has a hamstring injury.

Raphael Varane (£4.8m) makes the line-up just nine days after the World Cup final but, with Lisandro Martinez (£4.5m) still celebrating and Harry Maguire (£4.7m) only on the bench, there are two other full-backs as well as Shaw – Tyrell Malacia (£4.2m) and Aaron Wan-Bissaka (£4.3m).

Perhaps the latter will be at centre-back, although Casemiro (£4.9m) stepped back during last week’s Carabao Cup match.

Opponents Forest can’t play goalkeeper Dean Henderson (£4.7m) against his parent club so in steps Wayne Hennessey (£3.9m). New signing Gustavo Scarpa is also ineligible, whilst Morgan Gibbs-White (£5.5m) has a knock.

Much-owned cheap defender Neco Williams (£4.0m) is named as a substitute, as Jesse Lingard (£5.4m) makes an emotional return to the boyhood club he spent 21 years at.

GAMEWEEK 17 LINE-UPS

Manchester United XI: De Gea; Malacia, Wan-Bissaka, Varane, Shaw; Eriksen, Casemiro, Fernandes; Antony, Martial, Rashford

Subs: Heaton, Bennett, Maguire, B Williams, Fred, van de Beek, Iqbal, Elanga, Garnacho

Nottingham Forst XI: Hennessey; Aurier, Boly, Worrall, Lodi; Mangala, Freuler, Yates; Johnson, Awoniyi, Lingard

Subs: Smith, Cook, N Williams, Colback, O’Brien, Toffolo, Surridge, Dennis, McKenna

Rashie & Martial helped me along gone from 430k GW16 to 252k. Shackles are off now head down for a decent rank after last two season’s debacles.

Just need a venting moment, so bear with me as I’ve got nowhere else to do it!
It’s a bit “woe is me”, but I’ve had one of the best starts I’ve ever had, having been sub 300 a few weeks ago, and this is a bit of a struggle to get round when it goes really wrong!
I’ve always been an advocate of ‘it’s not what you didn’t do, it’s what you did’, but this week has been tough. Previous untouched team had Mitro, triple Newcastle, Salah and Rashford, and even the first draft would have smashed it at this stage, but I digress.
Having watched Darwin make a mockery of shooting statistics, Sterling and James flatter but never take me to dinner, and Bruno to be the best player on the pitch, watching everyone nearby hit 50s, 60s and 70+ is tough when I’ve barely touched 30, and my live FPL rank is nearly -600%.
I guess the long and the short of this is, I think it’s better chasing then having to keep on the top. It’s not particularly enjoyable having to self criticise, and feels like sprinting too early and watching everyone else overtake.
Any advice on how to not let it ruin the Christmas, or is it a simple ‘let’s see what next week brings’?

A lot more heartbreak and positives to come throughout the season I'm sure. Just keep on trucking, sometimes it just doesn't go your way.

That’s the idea, when Sterling smashes it in the double I’ll be happy (pending) but it’s quite tough to take currently.

You've got a few 'differentials' in Bruno, Sterling and possibly Darwin (Depending on how strong the rage is). Which could pay off if Mitro gets a YC.

Everyone has ups and downs during the season. Chin up, don't make any rash moves and go again next GW.

        That’s the plan.
Week 8 I wildcarded and it was fairly mediocre with Martinelli, Foden Bowen and Maddison (benched), week 9 they

Scored 6 and assisted 3 between them, so I’m hoping for a similar outcome

Tough break bro but happens to the best of us. Darwinism probably not the way to go - the mockery made is that an average person off the street would of converted more of those chances

I’ve played 8 aside games where I’ve had the exact same dragged finishing ability - the difference being is I’ve never played pro, got payed to do it, or have myself in my fantasy side!

My experience is a bit more like the opposite. This is the first time I've been chasing in a ML because or a couple of silly gambles I took. Now I'm constantly trying to find differentials where there don't seem to be any and each time I try to take a different path it seems to go wrong. Last season I was around 33K rank overall. Right now I'm over 1mil , and probably closer to 2 (haven't even looked TBH as it's depressing to see).

Seems like the misfortune is a combination of being too careful to follow template and then making a couple of rash decisions in the wrong areas. My main takeaway from all this is not to analyse everything too much, not to go crazy with loads of risks, but take a few gut instinct punts and not take "expert" advice as seriously.

Chasing can have its moments where you close the gaps, but I get your point. Maybe it’s because I’m used to people going early and me catching them with better planning or chip use.
With this, every misstep is another drop closer to the chasing pack, which isn’t my style.

That’s harsh. I think unlimited transfers could do more harm than good. I only made two moves, Foden back to Rashie, Jesus to Mitro, then two house keeping moves for Patterson and Bueno.

I always think as soon as you start messing with proven, quality players you’ll get bitten. Switching Rashie for Foden bit me before the break.

Hopefully it all comes good next week for you!

Just seen cleansheet odds GW18 and Liverpool rated 2nd best chance of cleansheet?!

Watched the Newcastle game and Leicester were awful, every time they had the ball there was zero presence in the box. Could see Liverpool just not letting them have the ball for 90, especially away from home.

Yeah, I'm tempted to go James to Robertson, but it's hard as a Liverpool fan to take any of their defenders.

How long will Chilwell be out?

Thinking Cucurella as James replacement since I don't have Kepa either.
Or maybe Shaw is safer and better option.
