Leeds v Man City team news: Cancelo, Foden and Walker benched

There’s one more Gameweek 17 match to go before Fantasy Premier League (FPL) managers get their sole rest day ahead of back-to-back Gameweeks.

Leeds United v Manchester City is the fixture in question, with kick-off at Elland Road set for 20:00 GMT.

It’s almost entirely about the visitors from an FPL perspective, with only one member of Leeds’ starting XI, bench fodder’s Sam Greenwood, owned by more than 2% of Fantasy managers.

Five City assets boast double-digit ownerships, by contrast, but two of them, Joao Cancelo and Phil Foden, aren’t part of Pep Guardiola’s line-up tonight.

In fact, only two of the eight City players who reached the quarter-finals of the 2022 FIFA World Cup with Portugal or England make the team this evening.

It’s John Stones and Jack Grealish who get the nod, with Kyle Walker, Bernardo Silva, Foden, Cancelo and the newly portly Kalvin Phillips on the bench.

Ruben Dias is injured.

Guardiola has largely gone with the same team that defeated Liverpool in the EFL Cup last Thursday, making three changes: Stefan Ortega, Aymeric Laporte and Cole Palmer are replaced by Ederson, Stones and Grealish.

Jesse Marsch has got a number of his injured and ill players back this evening, including Illan Meslier and Rodrigo.

Patrick Bamford misses out and Crysencio Summerville, who like Rodrigo has scored three goals in as many league matches, is only on the bench.

      Smooth - Unbelievable week! 99 points! Only robbed of the ton by Cancelo missing an appearance point. Haaland(c), Salah, Trippier, Rashford back in for Foden, Mitrovic back in for Jesus, Martinelli and Martial all scoring the points.

      Rough - Left Leno on the bench, nearly played him ahead of Ward but he is just my DGW19 punt so left things exactly as they were there. Cancelo benched.

      I've now moved up from 763k to to 267k in three gameweeks! 🙂

      Disaster.

      Took 16 transfers to make 8 changes, losing 0.1m each on White and Andreas by selling them and then buying them back. The only profitable one so far was bringing in Odegaard, but I then left him on the bench. The worst was a late change to bring in Darwin instead of Mitrovic.
      Didn't own Mitrovic, Salah or Rashford.
      Ward, Gabriel, Castagne, Andreas, Trossard, De Bruyne and Darwin all blanked.
      Left 28 points on the bench - Kepa(9), Odegaard(11), Botman(6) and White(2).
      GW rank of 7.5m, dropped from 1.08m to 1.60m overall.
      534th out of 572 in my December to May League.

      Smooth: a whopping big haul of 111 points, and up to 85k overall from 255k. First time breaking into the top 100k this season.

      I opted against James and Cancelo, went for Odegaard, and Salah over KDB.

      Rough: if anything maybe going Darwin over Mitro due to injury uncertainty. Happy enough to keep hold of Darwin though, and roll my transfer into next week.

      Smooth: Tiny gain, high but only average score. Rash, Salah, Trips, Kane, Marti, Haaland, Pope all did ok. Decided not to try and shoehorn James in. Didn't make any free transfers despite World Cup, fingers crossed Dalot and Wilson are back soon.

      Of course Arsenal are still top 🙂

      Rough, went rogue and whereas all the classics hit points, my attempts to be different (cc Fernandes and Sterling) didn’t come close to Rashford et al.
      If I’d have kept my pre World Cup team, I would have got approx 100, instead I got a 500% red arrow and scored just over 60

      sorry but that's nonsense, there is zero context on here when it comes to assessing a player any more. its just black and white . people got him and expected a haul (so they must have thought he was good to begin with then see him miss a lot of chances then decide no he was never good (even though they got him based on his last haul) its just youtube forum comment analysis -hes a fraud!! ....the guy has not had many starts due to injury and suspension and still has 5 in 10. think of the amount of players that have had slow starts in the prem (much slower than him ) and gone on to be great players

      It’s way too early to judge either way. Yes, he’s been very wasteful so far, but he’s also being assessed on the Haaland curve.
      At the current rate, with no improvement whatsoever, he’s still on track to score roughly 25 this season.

      Wilson to Mitro seems the obvious transfer. Consider losing Foden for someone with a double given I can see the Grealish - Mahrez plan by Pep being used more often in the second part of the season.
