Who would you bench from this lot this week?

    Pickford
    Estu - Gusto - Cash
    Madds - Salah - Sterling - Saka - Mbeumo
    Haaland - Jackson

Thinking Turner / Alvarez / Boldock / Bell

Baldock for Estu and Saka for Alvarez the tempters.

Obviously there's a chance alvarez might get benched but I'd still start him over mbeumo.

    Hello, WC deployed.

Any recommendations for the below? Thank you!

    Ederson
    Udogie, Chillwell, Gvardiol
    Sterling, Saka, Mbeumo, Maddison
    Jesus, Jackson, Haaland

    Flekken, Diaby, Saliba, Cash

Not sure about Jesus yet, might get Wissa instead. Don't fancy Watkins

In isolation it's a good move. My own dilemma is whether the extra cash is worth blocking Pervis to KT next week

I think 6.5m for Trippier is too much tbf and I don't feel like benching Estupinan at any point.

  6. Who are your favourite FPL 'content creators'?
    Eze Really?

    2 years, 3 months ago

I know many on this site are avid You Tube watchers.
I have always wanted to know what people think of content creators and their preferred choices.
    Good points for me are:
    20 minutes to 30 minutes.
Informative in terms of what we need to know
    Entertaining in terms of demeanor
    Avoiding advertising, especially gambling
    Loyalty towards their subscribers.
    Understanding Football.
    Black marks:
Pushing their allies and who they get financial support.
Plugging sites for the wrong reasons.
    Suffering incessant "like and subscribe"
    Poor communication with co hosts.
    Being greedy.
Advertising gambling (A big points deduction)
    So here goes:
Praz: Might be a know all but is individualistic (9)
FML FPL: Light hearted and never make out they are experts.(8)
Black Box: top man in Marc and has improved Az considerably who used to be a pain (8)
Suj and James: Suj is the bass and James acts like it. A mix of good and bad but informative (7)
FPL Wire: good knowledge but sometimes lacks quality interaction (7)
FPL Focal: People have stole his ideas but sometimes too short. (8)
Let's Talk FPL: Used to be my favorite but slipped down the ranks since Hub plugs.(6)
FPL Mate: Is he a copycat? (3)
FFHub: I like some Content creators but greedy, looking for money and misleading in adverts (3)
FF Scout; Slipped down the ranks massively and the constant betting ads I personally hate. This forum the only thing left IMO (3)
FPL Raptor; Not bad but I hate it when many of his audience talk about his looks, dating and private life. (5)
FPL Harry: Nice and simple and well informed like Focal (8)
Elite FPL: probably the worst of the lot (1)

Let me know if you strongly disagree and shot out anyone I am missing that is wort a watch.
I might be getting a few blocks after this.

I've only seen a few of these and only really started watching this summer but from I've seen/heard the market is massively saturated and there's maybe 5 minutes max of unique content or opinion. I like the General and I agree strongly with the FPL Mate review, seems a nice chap but too up other peoples backsides

I only watch The Wire, and sometimes Blackbox. They're not so self-focused on their own teams and in telling viewers what to do. It's more a scientific rummage through the data, and then discussing what they find.

I do quick scan through the FFS ones to get free member's data.

I like Trigger, Planet and FML. I don't mind elite FPL when they are calling out all the other CC's. We need more of that imo. I stopped watching Wire because of Bakar but apart from him it was ok. I have to filter the ridiculous UTD bias though ;-). Above average is quite good too.

I can't stand Andy or Raptor. Think they are just a drain on FPL in general. Poor FPL players given a platform by impressionable noobs who don't understand any better . Don't like Black box either. Just a boring stats fest with two washed up managers ( one who used to be really good at FPL)

As for Hub you can judge them by the kind of people they employ. Bakar and FPL Salah. I think Bakar must have a begging for money in the streets background and FPL Salah , FPL's resident homophobe. I also think FPL Salah and FPL General have the personality and charisma of a dead dog

I wouldn’t worry about it. No about how good your content or delivery, we all have accents and vocal nuances. Some people will find you easy on the ear, whereas you will really grate on other people. Personally I find you relatively easy on the ear, but it’s a massively subjective thing and not something you can change.

I watched Andy’s stream pre deadline because it seems I have to. Half the things he read out were fpl questions, the other half were questions about himself.
“Have you done something with your hair?” Was one. Jesus Christ, his head is so inflated he’s got his own moon orbiting it.

Fmlfpl I’ve listened to for years. I like it because they make me laugh and Walsh, even though he’s not very good at fpl, he does talk a good game.

I’ll listen to whatever Mark is on for old times sake, even though he’s not very good anymore.

Raptor I’ve never listened to but any grown man who wears a baseball cap the wrong way around is an immediate avoid.

The wire is ok but they can be a bit cringe with their macro/micro bollyocks and the Fmlfpl fanboy thing. They’re even doing mugs now. Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery as they say, or something like that.
That hub green arrow is ok. Adam is the dullest knob going but that Fergie one comes across as a nice chap.
Harry is nice. Sort of a chap I wouldn’t mind my daughter marrying. He plays the game differently to me and gets good ranks so that always intriguing. That’s the main thing really. If anyone is doing it differently and better then I’m interested.
That’s all I’ve listened to really.

A good post Timbo. We are definitely like minded in many ways.
I even catch myself turning off Black Box if Marc is a no show.
Harry is different and very good at it. Therefore I like him.
I always note the first release after the gameweek is often copied by others unless their opinion is the same.
I lost my leg a while ago and suffer from ghost pain at night when things are quiet. Podcasts do send me to sleep so there is always the good in things if you look hard enough.

Suj and James should be Planet FPL. The Monday show is excellent. It helps that James is a regular match going fan, who has the feel for players and all the whole 'eye test' stuff, while being quite canny at FPL as well. Then there is the rest of the content they produce through the week; top notch. LTFPL Andy always worth watching, as well as FPL Harry. Black Box is ok if I fast forward the stats sections.

I watched 2 deadline streams simultaneously on saterday on 2 screens…Fpl harry and lets talk andy.
Now i wanted to conduct an experiment. Since gameweek 1 they have identical teams so there ranks are obviously exact same. They both brought in jackson roughly 3 mins before deadline. Harry first quickly followed by andy. Then they both tried to move mbeumo to the middle of midfiel for symetry.
I couldn’t believe what i was watching. Wasnt it FFS that made andy who he is. How come hes so affiliated with the hub now instead of here?

I often here abdy critisising harry for copying him and often here harry saying he denys copying him on his live casts.

Had quite a lot of time to kill in recent months due to health issues, so listened to more than I normally would.

Black Box and Wire probably the better ones in my opinion. Given that they talk through their thought process and wear their club biases on a sleeve, it's easier to see whether you agree with them on FPL.

Interesting topic this as you have to like the content, but you also have to “like” the person and find them easy to listen to, especially if (like me) you like to consume content with earphones whilst having a walk or doing something like mowing the lawn.

Personally like the Blackbox interaction with Mark and Az - there is a place in the FPL world for 2hr content and it suits my method of consumption.

Also love the FPL Wire guys, though I never really warmed to the “Big Man” so bringing in Pras is a massive plus. It helps my wife is (and so all my in-laws) Indian so listening to them is very easy on the ear for me and makes me feel like I am being loyal!

I do like LTFPL Andy, but agree since he switched to Hub the plugging is incessant. I mean seriously, we all know and appreciate the need to give a plug to justify the sponsorship, but beyond that shut up!

Like FPL Harry - I don’t find him that easy to listen to but it is short and you have got to respect the man’s recent rank history.

FPL Mate reminds of an excited puppy trying to jump your leg. Annoying.

If you want a complete change, and a smile, and don’t mind Americans, the always cheating chaps actually are quite good.

I'm reluctant to come across as cruel, but I want to comment on the plethora of new content creators. Loads of them pop up on my YouTube algorithm - all of them simply regurgitate the same formula as the established guys but without decent graphics. Not just the same formula, but the same insights as them. What's the point? If you have nothing new or different to contribute, why bother?

I agree with you, but I think to be fair it is the natural order of the world. People either create something original or are “first to the party” (and so get a market lead) and have success. For example, if I had to guess based on his numbers I reckon LTFPL Andy probably has a comfortable 75k-115k income.

Others see it and want to replicate it. Most will fail.

No point being annoyed at them. The market will punish them far worse than our criticism ever could.

Yeah, that's very true. 95% of new creators will never get 100 subscribers and give up by the end of the season, only for thousands more to spring up. It's the curse of social media, with people conditioned to think everybody wants to hear their unoriginal opinions.

Again agree but it goes beyond social media. Some person or company invents a new product and has success (could be a smoothie, could be a gadget, could be anything). They have success. Cue a thousand copycats

BlackBox is my favourite by a distance, reminds me of the old Scoutcast days and Mark is still the guy whose opinions on the game I want to hear the most. I like the format, the stats prompting the discussion is what I want from an FPL video and I like how it's scheduled.

Scoutcast itself is still decent but don't tend to tune in every week. Beyond that I tend to avoid shorter videos or videos where it's just one person giving their thoughts, I'd rather read an article or even a Twitter thread for that. I like the idea of Focal's retrospectives but I'd rather just be able to look at previous seasons in depth myself.

Don't mind hearing from LTFPL Andy but prefer him as a guest on other platforms, can't imagine watching the entirety of his deadline streams. Sometimes funny to watch back if the servers crash but not good when the entire purpose of the stream becomes not showing your whole team because people will copy it.

Not sure what is surprising about it and their analysis is better than most. I occasionally watch Blackbox.

I can't stand these "content" creators. They are all the same, have the exact same thumbnail graphics, team templates and talking points. Casing point was that none of them were talking about Sterling and now this week they all are.

It is a tragedy that these bottom feeders are now getting confidential team links that influence the game.

I miss the old scoutcasts with Mark, Jonty and the much missed Granville. It was once a week, nice banter and about FPL. Now Scout has about 200 bland videos a week.

Horses for courses mate. The "know all" statement is rather harsh maybe, but it could be fueled by your reaction to some who can be talking obvious rubbish. You are "frank" in your outlook and tend not to talk for the sake of it. Shorter content for information; longer content for entertainment. Hard to do a long podcast on your own. I'll drop into these if time suits for good entertainment on a subject (FPL) I'm interested in. I find I'm not influenced by the presenters, just enjoy the crack.
Team news occasionally if I haven't read the pertinent info, but would be a much better 'show' if the presenter wasn't there & just Neal providing the info. Being told to Like the show even if I don't and shoutouts to people in the stream is just tiresome drivel. All IMHO obviously.
Blackbox would be top of my list for statistical info combined with entertainment, find the relaxed format and the presenters chemistry easy on the eye/ear.

The dilemma this week, and I doubt I'm alone is whether the midfield switch (probably selling Martinelli) should allow enough cash to jump up to Trippier for their kind fixture turn. Essentially sub-7m allows that.

I'd welcome opinions on whether Foden/Sterling are sufficiently better than Mbuemo (or 6.5s) to block off a route to Trippier.

Have there been any sightings of Mo Salah in Saudi, boarding planes etc for a medical ? All I can find today is this from the Liverpool Echo :
Saudi Arabian side Al-Ittihad are reportedly readying a €150million (£128m) bid for Mohamed Salah.

"The Liverpool talisman continues to be linked with a move to the Middle East, despite Jurgen Klopp playing down such talk, though it is suggested the reigning Saudi Pro League champions are 'ready to test' the resolve of the Reds with a big-money bid for the Egyptian."

All conjecture. Officially it seems like no bid has been made at any stage yet. Liverpool Echo reported the deal was agreed yesterday or the day before I thought, and then that Salah agreed terms? So I'm ignoring anything they say for now

I would keep Eze and get rid of Gabriel instead.

I looked at the AI for next 5 forwards it said second to Haaland (32.1) points was Isak with (23.2) ahead of Jackson (22.6). I did not expect it to say that, I think it is interesting.

Thoughts on using my WC now...

I've had an alright start with the below squad and there is no real urgency to use it. However in past seasons I end up using it because I'm running out of time and it hasn't worked well. So maybe jumping on it early this season could be better? For the likes of Sterling, Maddy, Gusto, Udogie, Isak, Diaby, Bowen. Would love to get some opinions... Thanks 🙂

It's tempting but really don't think you need to this week.

See if you still have a starting GK by the end of the week. That might tip you into WC5

As above. Might also trigger a bunch of other moves including Johnstone to Forest/Wolves. I have the same GK combo & will probably try to ride it out this week but there's definitely potential for an enforced double GK change on WC5

    Can't decide between these options:

A Sell Martinelli for Sterling or Maddison
B Keep Martinelli, have 2ft over the break.

    Pickford
    Estu Saliba Gusto
    Salah Saka Rashford Martinelli Mitoma
    Haaland Alvarez

    Turner Baldock Osula Beyer

do people on here actually watch games or just read match reports? already heard today that maddison hasnt been that good (laughable), ditto sterling. the sterling one in particular just shows how biased people can be on a player based on past form (and being burned in FPL) as opposed to actual recent matchday evidence. Sterling under pochetinos system is the fulcrum of the attack right now and their best player. Its not the tuchel sterling or the potter sterling or even the late pep sterling. FPL is about whose good right at this moment.

A lot don’t watch games, they just analyse numbers and form opinions based on that.

A few have exposed themselves for it over Sterling when talking about his numbers with him not being a threat when if you watch the games, you could see his threat growing, play changing & confidence returning, he won the pen against Liverpool that wasn’t scored & played well in that game so it wasn’t just the Luton game because the numbers said so.

There are a lot of Mini Bakar’s about I’m afraid.

      1. Eze Really?

To be fair, the only stats I get are from people who tell me. Living in South Africa, I get to see all the games just about. I used to post my opinions on a Monday with who I thought did or did not do well. I did it for those who did not get a chance to watch. I can play this game and if I used stats to play I would have given up long ago.

Both Maddi and Sterling have been good so far this season. I am surprised on Sterling's revival as he always seemed to slow the game down. Maddi has always been a good player IMO.

I don’t know why it’s so difficult for people to say, ‘I don’t have the transfers to get them in this week’ instead of flooding the internet with crap opinions and mental gymnastics to say why they can’t get that player that week.

How is it a crap opinion? Yes Sterling looked good against West Ham as well but it is a fact that the vast majority of his output so far came against the absolute worst team in the league.

I don’t know what that is, all I know is Chelsea (including Sterling) were an absolute joke a week ago. One game against Luton and he’s “class” again, despite massively overperforming his stats. Definition of a trap.

You rate De Gea based off his Golden Glove so you’ve got absolutely no room to call anyone’s opinion crap.

Not even one full game. Chelsea were terrible in that first half against Luton. Only looked better second half when the worst team in the division started to tire but apparently we don't watch the games and just look at stats.

Get your egos out of the way, people. New manager, new shape, new Sterling mindset. Add favourable fixtures (not just Luton) means he’s a good option.

I'm not saying he's a bad option but it's a tiny sample size dominated by the Luton fixture. Completely understand why people are buying him. Personally I'm not convinced and would like to see more.

I watch all the live games, and highlights of others. I get the strong impression that not only do many posters not watch the games - they don't read match reports either. There are too many who just see the line-ups and blow a gasket without caring a t055 about the manager's tactics and reasons for choosing a player over the player in their fantasy team. I wonder how many of those FPL players just follow the creators in picking their assets.

I've not been able to watch any Brighton matches yet. I've got Mitoma and am looking for a way to fit in Maddison. Anyone got a sense of how Mitoma's been playing?

Other mids are Diaz, Mbeumo, Foden, and Saka.

Near(ish) his peak, looks dangerous as always. xGI (np) ranks 5th of all mids. I kind of get the fixture trepidation but for me Newcastle & City are the only ones I don't particularly like. More than happy to start him v mun/LIV/avl
