Sure if he was confirmed fit.

He was subbed early midweek due to hamstring issue then Howe states in Friday presser “Anthony, usually is a very quick recoverer of different things, so we will see how he is today". I think the right decision was made to start Raul over Gordon. Unfortunate with the outcome.

I felt from Howe’s comments he was either 90mins (possible early sub) or 0mins, that’s why I started him but I was also comfortable in knowing that Palmer would sub in for him if he didn’t play.

    3. Conners

As an admittedly biased Solanke owner, I think the points will stay.

The in-game points were awarded during a legitimate period of play, prior to the game being suspended.

The bonus points were removed because these are applied once the allotted 90 minutes + stoppage time has elapsed (which obviously didn't happen).

To remove points retrospectively, regardless of the reasons for doing so, sets a precedent for taking similar action for disallowed goals which are later awarded, red cards which are later rescinded, and so on.

    BOU vs LUT prognosis
its fantasy vs reality,so to me quite simple
FANTASY the game has taken place points will stand.
REALITY the premier league will replay the game and fantasy football will have nothing to do with it,(debated in a pub last night with a lawyer friend) no win no fee, incidentally he doesnt own solanke

    1. Ask Yourself
      • 9 Years

But then again the fantasy aspect is we solanke owners get his points now and then will get his points in the replayed game too ? Unless they decide not to give points in the replayed game because otherwise a load of us have gained an advantage thanks to the incident. Just seems messy and unlikely to keep the points and have a replay

Funnily enough IMO keeping the points as-is and replaying the game is the most 'fair' outcome for the Fantasy managers.

You don't screw over those that bought or started players from those two sides this GW. You don't give an unfair advantage to those that didn't. It still gives EVERYONE the opportunity to buy BOU/LUT players for a future DGW (providing it doesn't fall in this GW, but if doing that why not just complete the rest of the game).

It's a tiny bit unfair in that it lets BOU/LUT players have a few extra points for this fixture - but the history of that really isn't important & that doesn't really have an effect to players.

I'm not necessarily sure that's the decision that will be taken - because last-second postponements create the 'unfair' advantages too, but tbh they can do what they like.

Or like Potato Face says sabovr - could just keep it as-is and omit the future fixture. That's even slightly more fair, perhaps.

I'm not going to get into this again, but... by what logic and reasoned thinking would it be 'better' or 'fairer' to respect the outcome, so to speak, of an unfinished game that was abandoned, than it would be to respect the outcome of the fully legitimate and fully played-through game, whensoever it should occur?

            1. Hazz
              • Fantasy Football Scout Member

I'm not taking from an FA/PL point of view.

The perspective I have described it one where players have made decisions & taken hits etc, with expectation a game is played - and it did in fact get played - only to get cancelled after half way through.

I agree officially it may get struck from the record but Fantasy Premier League is a game & the 'gamemasters' are within their right to take any decision they like - and they can choose to be fair and not disadvantage players here (or not).

They already have differening rules from the league - i.e. Goals/assists attributed to players AFTER point updates.

So there isn't a need to be exactly like-for-like.

I don't think there's one winning argument here, just that the game has a decision it is in its power to make.

Not sure you can make that conclusion yet.

If the game was done the bonus would probably have stuck.

Presume they removed bonus as either the match wasn't complete - or because it ties into 'completing' the gameweek points for a fixuture - and they've decided that's not done yet.

They clearly were messing around with scores last night, including reseting the scores to 0. Perhaps a bit of 'live' testing?

Can see there being more changes. And I say that as a Solanke owner with nobody to sub on!

      1. DandyDon
        • 7 Years

we missed out on bonus but player could have been sent off of if a defender had clean sheet wiped to so evens itself out a bit. Annoying as a Solanke owner but would seem more unfair if we lost points and had to do the replay. Then again he'll probably score a hatrick and we'll all be complaining then to!

      More from the Daily:

Premier League Rule L15 states that any match abandoned with the consent of the referee will be replayed, with a date and kick-off time to be arranged by the top-flight's Board.

Luton and Bournemouth's players were taken off midway through the second half with Lockyer receiving medical treatment after collapsing off the ball.

Referee Simon Hooper confirmed the game was being abandoned soon afterwards following talks with both clubs, after which the players returned to the pitch to applaud the supporters, who were chanting Lockyer's name.

Premier League sources insist that their priority at present is the health of the player, but Mail Sport has been told that the competitions rules are clear and they are expect to stick to the protocol set out in their handbook.

It stopped on 59mins for a start

And a game is 90 mins long

The most peculiar thing would be to play 31 mins plus stoppage time from 1 1.

Presumably that would mean the same players on the pitch ... A few obvious snags with that too.

Assumed solankes points would be taken away when the bonus went but I see the FPL site says match points added and confirmed for Friday and Sat so wonder if they will stick now?
Strange times guess you can't complain much whatever the end result given circumstances

      • 9 Years
      2 years, 9 days ago

If it looks likely that the match will be replayed in full (which I think is what happens when a match is abandoned in the PL), then I think they treat is as a BGW (harsh I know), and remove all the points and let bench players come on instead.

It's a part of any fantasy game. And in FPL you play a fantasy game set up to give you points that reflects events in PL-matches.
This particular PL-match was abandoned and therefore BOU - LUT is yet to face each other in the PL.

Bad luck I know. But would be the only way if it looks like a rematch and not a board deciding that 1-1 is the final result or something.

I'm starting a Change.org petition about this Solanke debacle. It is quite frankly shameful that FPL may consider not crediting what are hard earned points. Cup games are at stake. Minileagues are at stake. People's wellbeing are at stake.

If everyone here signs when I set up the petition J think we can get close to the 100,000 signatures needed to this become debated in parliament.

I then trust our British political system to do what is right and ensure all 6 statutory points plus the 3 additional bonus points are duly credited. I also hope that this means heads will roll at the most senior ranks of the FPL pyramid.
