As mentioned previously, our Fantasy football coverage will also include a weekly article on the Sky Sports game as we look to broaden our analysis of the various games available to Fantasy managers this season. Having already assessed the Rules, the Player List and broken down last season’s Man of the Match awards, the next article analyses the introduction of the new bonus points system, which awards players who make 60+ completed passes and/or 4+ successful tackles in any given Gameweek.

Unlike the Fantasy Premier League (FPL) game, Sky Sports use Opta data for analysing player performance – making it a perfect accompaniment for our Members section data. For that purpose, we’ve created custom tables in the Members Area which highlights the main protagonists from 2011/12, indicating the respective haul each player would have accrued in bonus points alone were the rule in place last season. These statistics are not available in the Sky Sports game, or anywhere else, giving our members a real edge when it comes to selecting their initial squads.

With two points for 60+ passes and another two points for 4+ tackles, it’s clear that the new bonus system will have a definite impact in how we approach the task of setting up our teams for the season ahead. Bearing in mind that the Points Scoring system allocates five points for a goal or a Man of the Match award and three points for an assist, identifying those players who are capable of producing the bonus points looks almost as vital.

Unsurprisingly, given the bonus criteria, nine of the top ten are midfielders, while Swansea’s passing game under Brendan Rodgers sees as many as three of their players also feature in the upper echelons, with one hovering just outside…

Afternoon, folks. I missed all the discussion on here yesterday evening and I've got one question: Is the generic move still to leave £2m in bank to get rid or Torres or are some now even leaving £3m???

Which will undoubtedly be used to do the Torres ➡ Rooney switch? See, I've currently got the same and I'm actually quite happy with my team so please do convince me that everything will be fine if I have Rooney instead of RVP...

Got 2m in the bank at the moment.

Tempted to leave 3, but that'd mean downgrading N'Zog > Ireland.

I personally think that £3m is too much to have in the bank. A good showing in GW1 is just as important as the 37 other GWs

3m is for safety. Personally, I don't see value in Rooney after RVP's there now. I think I might keep Torres throughout the season. I think he'll have a good year playing alone up top.

My plan exactly. If you already have Rooney and, say, Bale, you don't need to use your FT before GW2 (except for injuries, etc) so wait until after GW2 and do a double switch if needed. If you lay that right you can get in/rid of whomever you want.

    Thoughts on this line up?

    Friedal Federici
    Ivanovic - Zaba - Saylor - Demel - Cuellar
    Bale - Yaya - Mata - Noble - Miyaichi
    Torres - Tevez - Graham
    2.0 in the bank..

Should I go Friedal/Mata or DDG/Lampard? Any other opinions?

I'm thinking Freidel Mata. don't really like DDG.

I hate spending money on keepers, heres an example. Say Man U keep clean sheets in all their home games (unlikely but maybe average for the season) thats only 133 points. I'm thinking Freidel is cheaper and will get similar points.

      Whats your thoughts?

I'm thinking why waste a transfer getting rid of Torres GW2. There also a slight danger, that he may now play both games anyhow considering his late night antics yesterday!

So am I mad to be considering a front line of Aguero, Tevex, Rooney from the off?

    Rest of the team is

    Foster, 4.0m cheapy
    Zab, Cuellar, Hughes, Tierney, Gorkss
    Bale, Mata, Pienaar, Noble, Maloney
    Aguero, Tevez, Rooney

      a) Thats a nice midfield but swap Lampard to Yaya Toure
      b) If you want to swap out DDG so you can upgrade Zab to Vidic (good idea by the way) then get in Friedal instead of doubling up on FUL defence. Obviously if Spurs sign a new keeper then this option doesnt make sense but until that happens he will def play.

Just looking at the team you can assemble by getting in Tevez makes me want to take out Aguero from my team.

    DDG – Federici
    Lescott – Hangeland – Saylor – Demel – Barnett
    Nasri – Hazard – Michu – Maloney – Guthrie
    Aguero – Torres – Graham

3.5m spare for Nasri -> Silva an Torres -> Rooney

Will it be a good move to downgrade aguero to free up 2.5m to use to upgrade saylor to enrique, and use the remaning to fund Torres -> RVP.

    Which option is better:
    A. Seb Larsson and Ash WIlliams
    B. Michu and Carlos Cuellar

Currently have A but thinking of changing...

    Man Utd's fixtures from GW2...

    25 Aug 15:00 Gameweek 2 Fulham (H)
    02 Sep 16:00 Gameweek 3 Southampton (A)
    15 Sep 15:00 Gameweek 4 Wigan (H)
    23 Sep 13:30 Gameweek 5 Liverpool (A)
    29 Sep 17:30 Gameweek 6 Tottenham (H)
    07 Oct 16:00 Gameweek 7 Newcastle (A)
    20 Oct 15:00 Gameweek 8 Stoke City (H)
    28 Oct 16:00 Gameweek 9 Chelsea (A)
    03 Nov 12:45 Gameweek 10 Arsenal (H

3 easy fixtures, then a very tough run of fixtures.

Is it really worth basing your team around the intent of getting in Rooney/RVP for GW2??

United will probably score in all of those games and Rooney or RVP will be the guys scoring them.

Are they more likely to score in those tough games than Aguero, Tevez etc??

No offence meant but personally I dont like it. Too much risk in MID and there are better options in DEF.

      a) Cech in goals wont get you tonnes of points. If you are going for solid keeper to start week in week out then go for Hart. Although Chelsea will keep plenty of CS's I just dont think Cech will get the save points to justify his price. You could get a Chelsea DEF for the same price that would add goal threat (Ivanovic/Cahill) or assists (Cole).
      b) Swap Evra with Vidic, he'll have more bonus points and goals over the season and I think UTD will have a great defence this year.
      c) Shawcross isnt exceptional either. Go for someone else like Hangeland or (as mentioned above) a CHE def if you downgrade your keeper.
      d) Really strong looking midfield but there is a lot of risk with Hazard, Kagawa and Michu. They are all new to their respective teams so may need time to adjust. Kagawas impact may not be immediate because of the RVP transfer so maybe swap him, for Bale/Carzola if you can afford either.
      e) Podolski? Again, another risk. He has agreat record with Germany but he is not a prolific goalscorer. Swap for Jelavic or Tevez.

For people with Federici are you starting him for GW 1? I have De Gea aswell but just wondering what people are doing.

I can see 2 to 3 points off Stoke, and 0-1 off Chelsea

"Reports suggest Swansea are in talks to sign Valencia winger Pablo Hernandez " Does this make Dyer less nailed on? Laudrup seems to like his former La Liga players.

Yea, thought about that after posting 😀 More like Wenger's Giroud+Podolski off-setting RVP I reckon?

Anyway, how nailed on is Dyer atm?
