Has a stitched Wayne Rooney made things simple? Have we already got the template attacking lineup? Certainly Robin Van Persie’s goal, coupled with the injury to Rooney that looks to have sidelined him for a month, suggests that the source of attacking points at United is settled. Unless, of course, you’re committing to the slick trickery of Shinji Kagawa over Van Persie’s pure goal power.

City’s Carlos Tevez surely has another spot up front reserved for him and, while Fernando Torres is doing his upmost to cling to our affections, Eden Hazard’s irresistible form surely means that we have a preferred route to Chelsea’s flowing attacking points.

After just two weeks, a combination of Van Persie, Tevez and Hazard appears to give the very best coverage of potentially the three most potent teams in the league.

You can argue around this – Kagawa, Samir Nasri and Torres all offer the alternatives but, right now, while these words are typed, I’m struggling to see past this new holy trinity as the most powerful combination.

Throw in Michu, Steven Pienaar or Mauroanne Fellaini – perhaps dabble with Danny Graham up front while Swansea’s fixtures remain favourable, or even Emmanuel Adebayor to cover Tottenham’s attacking threat, and the template after Gameweek 2 begins to look solid.

As we discussed in the ScoutCast this week, there will be new names emerging that will threaten to break the ideas we have now but, in all honesty, it’s difficult to see Van Persie, Tevez and Hazard being anything other than season keepers; barring injury.

It can’t really be that simple and yet the twist of fate that saw Rooney first benched and then stretchered down the tunnel, almost rubber-stamped matters. There will surely be thousands scrambling for Van Perise, even more suitors for Hazard after another bout or returns from this evening’s victory. Meanwhile, Tevez has Liverpool in his sights tomorrow with a clear run of appearances while Sergio Aguero recuperates.

If you currently sit on all three, congratulations; please fight back the smugness. If you’ve none of the above, cling to the hope that there’s naivety in these words and that these power houses will falter. Either that, or scrub up for some serious squad surgery.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Hazard looks great, but Torres is not bringing in the points that his price tag dictates. I wonder how low his ownership would have been without the dgw.

I got mentioned in an article last year because I was the next player just outside qualifying for one of the FFS Cups (came down to # of transfers)... 125 out of 124 entrants, or however it worked. It was almost as satisfying as qualifying...

I believe VAN PERSIE is essential now!

Choices, I’m getting rid of defoe and Cech for Van P for a 4 OR 8 POINT HIT

    I have Hazard and Bale
    (a) Van P, Tevez, Ade ……… 5.5 keeper (vorm/friedal)
    (b) Van P, Tevez, Torres ……… 5.0 keeper (mingolet/?)
Bearing in mind my sub keeper doesn’t play and (a) is -8

    Any opinions?

Being a Arsenal fan. I said to my friend I was pissed playing players from teams that would be in the title Race (hopefully Arsenal will be), and I made a bet with my friend I could beat him this year without having Man U, Man C, Tot, Che, Liv.

I have found out it is hard to spend money, since players from other team or so cheap.

I am doing a Wildcard and I have

    Worm-Ming

    Hangeland-Vermalen-Baines

    A.Johnson-Pienaar-Cazorla-Michu

Graham-Petric-Ba Anything a should change about my starting team?

    Krul

Demel - Lescott - Clyne - Williams (Ivanovic)

Michu - Pienaar - Larsson (Lampard, McAnuff)

    Tevez (c) - RVP - Petric

Any recommended TFs for next week?

Already did Torres to RVP and I'm planning to do Lamps to Hazard GW4.

Which is the best move with my FT:

    A) McClean OUT - Fellaini IN.
    B) McClean OUT - Pienaar IN.
    C) Cuellar OUT - S. Taylor IN.
    D) Cuellar OUT - other Newcastle defender IN.

Everton have excellent form/fixtures. Sunderland's are a little on the dodgy side.

Newcastle have 3 fixtures in the next 4 I'd like one of their defenders for.

I dont think Torres should rise 0.2 in week. Id be amazed if that many people get him in with a blank gameweek and 1 decent performance in 3 games...saying that some of the rises/percentage ownership seem to defy logic so i guess that can cause concern.

Crappy fixtures 6-13? Hazard can score/assist in any of those games. I would do Michu in this week, Hazard in the next week.

sure. i happen to think he's one of the most complete additions to the premier league i've seen in a long long time. they're still crappy fixtures (the worst any team has during that period), his average per game is still extremely likely to decrease.

Decided to sleep on my decisions and watch the games tomorrow before doing any transfers although I'll lose 0.1m 🙁

Just one last quick question, suppose Cazorla doesn't look good tomorrow how does this look for an 8 point-hit? Cazorla/Taarabt/Torres -> Nasri/Fellaini/RVP

I know you probably need the cash from Cazorla to Nasri to do the other two, but that's a very risky transfer, especially for a hit. I own nasri, but I don't trust him in my team (he was always penciled in as someone who would be quickly dropped once rotation starts). Drafting him in for a hit seems like another double hit waiting to happen, potentially.

And, I don't think you'll get past the first qualifying preconditon, because Cazorla will look good tomorrow. He's class.

Played my Wildcard. Had no choice with Rooney injury and too much deadweight in my squad. Feel bad shifting out Torres and Cole as they've done alright for me. Brought in Hazard as I think his price is going to go silly and I won't be able to afford him after the blank gameweek. Is having both Michu and Routledge going overboard?

    Wildcard team:

    Fed Vorm

    Baines Clyne Fabio Santon Ridgewell

    Hazard Pienaar Michu Routledge Kagawa

    Petric Tevez RVP

    Any comments or recommendations welcome

not sure if you reposted already (its moving quick here for the deadzone), but my comments are:

      1) Fabio could be better. Cuellar or Hughes have both shown better from, or turn him into +.5m and get a cheapie

      2) No Spurs or Newcastle attackers has the most potential to hurt you these next 5-ish weeks. HBA is the cheapest route into that category, though I'd ideally go for Ba over Petric (with the money coming from routledge to a bench-able 4.5 and the fabio downgrade)

Sorry if it has been mentioned before but what is the deal with Michu's price rise at the moment?

    Perez Cuesta, Miguel - 47,416 NTI - 0%

Has it just not been rest properly, I would have thought he would be one of the main candidates for another rise.
