Two games today, one at Stamford Bridge and one at the DW Stadium, cap off the first gameweek of 2011. Shortly, the out-of-form Champions will be looking to climb back into the top four thanks to back-to-back wins, as they welcome the visit of the worst form side in the league, Aston Villa. Then, at 4pm, Newcastle United travel down to take on Roberto Martinez’s Wigan Athletic in front of a packed house (not really). Join us in the Dugout Discussion, where all the day’s action be followed.

Team news from our first game is in, and here are the line-ups…

Chelsea XI: Cech, Ferreira, Bruma, Terry, Cole, Ramires, Essien, Lampard, Anelka, Drogba, Malouda

Villa XI: Friedel, Cuellar, Collins, Dunne, Clark, Ashley Young, Petrov, Reo-Coker, Downing, Heskey, Agbonlahor

As revealed earlier in the week by Carlo Ancelotti, 19-year-old Dutch defender Jeffrey Bruma partners skipper John Terry in central defence. Elsewhere, Paolo Ferreira is preferred to Jose Bosingwa, with the Portuguese international sitting on the pine.

The visitors call upon Ashley Young and Emile Heskey, who both shook off knocks to make the trip. The latter of the two is partnered up front with Gabriel Agbonlahor, meaning there is no room in midfield for Marc Albrighton. In defence, Richard Dunne is back in favour as he replaces Eric Lichaj (with Carlos Cuellar shifting role), and Ciaran Clark completes a back four composed entirely of centre backs.

Once again, all the action can be followed in the chatroom, which can be accessed right here.

Rubbish game for 80 minutes. No way did Villa deserve to lose that, they hassled Chelsea out of it. Drogs useless for most of the match yet still gets some points. Was going to drop him watching 80 minutes of that crap but he keeps scoring so I guess he still survives!

Sturridge has never been given much of a run in the side.
I should dig out all the comments about Chelsea following the start to the season they made courtesy of the easiest set of fixtures I think I can ever remember seeing. It made them very complacent. Had they played one of the top side and discovered exactly where they were, then it might have made a difference to the way they play. It looks to me like they would benefit by pushing Anelka or Sturridge right up front with Drogba and play a tighter 4-4-2. A couple of times in the first half Cole just bombed forward and it was Essien that had to do the covering leaving gaping holes in the middle.

Granville - whilst the point about complacency is a good one, it's still unfair to dismiss our early season form on the basis that the fixtures were 'easy'. We were genuinely playing excellently at the beginning of the season, and the teams that we beat have proven themselves to be better than people expected.

We didn't see Utd or Arsenal completely demolish West Brom like we did at the beginning of the season. Blackpool have shown that they are capable of 'mixing it with the big boy's yet we beat them in probably the most one sided game of the season.

It's not only Drogba's fault - Chelsea's problem is the squad is too weak. We lost Ballack, Deco, Carvalho and only brought in Benayoun who has been injured. We have no super subs - look at Man Utd's and Arsenal's benches, miles better than ours.

easy, don't do it. Tevez - central to everything Man City do - as in score, assist.

Torres - central to everything Liverpool do ie lose, concede, never score away.

Had Terry and Essien going in to this match... Was expecting 9/12 points from a clean sheet and possible assist from Essien.

After Terry got yellowed was looking at 2 - and what should have been one considering Essien conceeded the penalty against the most card happy ref ever.

Yet someone I manage to come out of it with 8 so... moderately happy. Essien still needs to go though.

Tough games coming up and a slightly unfavourable double gameweek though...

Although today should have been a tough game! Fantastic fixtures after gameweek 25 though so if he does okay in the next few weeks go for it!

Yes, he was quiet today but Drogba is the most consistent FPL player in last couple of years. He scored or assisted in 26 of his 32 appearances last year, so it really isn't right to grumble that he got one of each today against the worst form side in the league.

He did all that before he got malaria though.

What's that got to do with anything? He's clearly back to fitness now. Malaria was so November 2010.

The goal was deflected everywhere. Friedel made a fantastic save that gave him an assist, it wasn't a great pass by him or anything.

What you should look at more is he missed a fairly easy chance from Bosingwa's cross to win it for Chelsea when he should have smashed it in the net, not two yards wide.

Will Malouda get the assist awarded on the penalty? Or was it not really his assist?

Didn't see the penalty numnuts, hence the question. If i'd have seen it asked/answered before then i wouldn't ask.

        Thanks anyway

No worries pal, i know it can get a bit tiring seeing the same questions over and over.

I just got to the party a bit late today!

If Carvalho and Ballack were playing we'd have cruised that game. Just sayin'.
