A less than impressive City scramble past Swansea thanks to a moment of inspiration from Carlos Tevez in the longest game in Premier League history. For many of us watching, it felt like it, too:

Going Up

Carlos Tevez
Having failed to score in the last four Gameweeks, the Argentine has been deserted by plenty Fantasy managers after impressing in the first few matches. Shifted to a deeper role at half-time, with Mario Balotelli coming on to lead the line, Tevez’s fine strike from distance was enough to secure the points for a disjointed home side.

City Defensive Resolve
The 1-0 win earned a second successive home clean sheet for Roberto Mancini’s men. They have now conceded just once in the last three but their injury problems at right-back look like continuing – Micah Richards seems to have sustained a knee injury and could be set to join Pablo Zabaleta and Maicon on the sidelines; Kolo Toure may earn a rare spell in the first XI as a result.

Going Down

Michel Vorm
The Dutchman has been such a key figure for Swansea since joining prior to the start of last season but, having injured his groin while attempting to save Tevez’s strike, he may well be unavailable for Michael Laudrup’s side. Gerhard Tremmel – priced at 4.0 in FPL – looks the man to benefit.

Joleon Lescott
Granted, the centre-half had been dropped for two league games prior to this evening but both had been on the road. Lescott had played every minute at the Etihad, with Mancini seemingly keen on him alongside Vincent Kompany at home but the former Everton man clearly has a real rival in Matija Nastasic. Lescott was handed a seven minute sub appearance deep into the 12 minutes of time added on, handing his Fantasy owners a one point return.

Nathan Dyer
The winger was benched for the second game running, with Pablo Hernandez again preferred on the right. Dyer had previously started six of Swansea’s first seven but the Spaniard seems to now be slotting into Michael Laudrup’s system at his expense – a big worry for Dyer’s 18% FPL owners.

Scott Sinclair
The showdown with his former club looked tailor-made for Sinclair to make his first start since Gameweek 4 but he once again warmed the bench, with Mancini clearly far from convinced by his abilities. This time last term both he and Dyer were nailed-on under Brendan Rodgers for the Swans – now both look peripheral figures under their new managers.

Hypothetically, if Pep wanted the Arsenal job (as has been reported in the Telegraph), and Arsene thinks he could do a better job, do you think he would step aside? Often here about how he loves the club and would always put it first but he is also one of, if not, the highest paid managers in the League.

Who cares? I just say what I think.

This kind of bollards annoys me, generally comes from people who don't understand the game because they haven't been watching it for long enough to ignore these ridiculous, tripe rumours. When do they ever come off?

Zidane ever been in the Premier League? Maradona? Pele? Ronaldo, the real one? No. Neither do managers. They don't care about English football. We generally get the cast offs or those that want to make a name for themselves early in their careers before heading off to Spain, where the real football is played.

Mata and Cazorla can't even make the Spanish team. Hernandez can't even make the United team. RVP was terrible in the Euros, Torres is terrible full stop. Hazard looks promising but will probably end up in Spain. Aguero and Tevez are quality.

I digress from the main point anyway.

Pep Guardiola is not interested in the Arsenal job and even if he was, Arsene Wenger wouldn't step down. Stupid question! Argh!

Illogical. Not even valid under your assumptions. Your point is that top players go from England to Spain and there's a bucketload who went from Spain to England.

You're doubly wrong. It's not England to Spain right now, it's Spain to England.

I could try explaining to you that this Spanish exodus has been exacerbated by the taxes on footballers increasing there and their clubs GOING COMPLETELY BUST but I'd be wasting my time.

Going to Spain? I'm surprised you didn't say going to GREECE.

This is why you don't have a clue.

RVP was not terrible in the Euro's, Holland were. There were deep underlying issues in the dutch camp that would take too long to get into here. Torres is a shadow of the player he once was, but he was still in England when he secured the 2008 Euro title. Mata and Cazorla have not made the Spanish team as much as say, Iniesta or Xavi, but then they are older players and will most likely be replaced by yours truly.

Not sure what's with the aggressive attitude, but I have to disagree with you. And to be honest, I can understand why the very best Spanish players woul want to apply their trade in their native country. That being said, the fact that so many international players do come to the Premier Leauge must mean that it is a pretty competitive league and right up there with the best.

Spain might be 'the best' if you look at Barcelona and Madrid's domination of late, but there's a huge difference between top and bottom, and I think the EPL is more entertaining for that reason

I never said he was bad anyway, your point was that he had an outstanding game, which he didn't. I merely said people are too quick to judge players who have one half-decent game as being amazing talents.

Step aside?? Stupid question, no way is the answer.

As it happens I 'm not sure Wegner knows what he's doing anymore, has let so many quality players slip from his grasp simply because he didnt add quality to the squad during the last 5 seasons.

As for Pep, he will fail miserably in the PL, believe it.

Yes, better to get Cameron for two reasons.

          1. More 'locked in' as person below says and...
          2. Potential that he may be shifted into his natural position as a centre or right midfielder.

Pulis has always had this fantasy of converting central midfielders into full-backs. As he has done with Wilson and Huth already.

What information would you like? I'm generally good at predicting Stoke results (I had both Begovic and Cuellar in today as I felt it had 0-0 written all over it).

Adam is our brightest player in terms of assist potential in my opinion. Walters is a good OOP but doesn't do much. Crouch will score if he gets the service.

I brought Wilson to provide funding for Mata :'( And then Cazorla can't even get points against QPR. So frustrating. He should have scored.

I have to sort Guthrie out as I play a three way rotation at the back so pick 7 out of 8 for my midfield and front men which has been by default for over a month now. 2ft transfer allows me to do it as well.

Can your defence cope with Wilson out for a week becasue Mata next week could explode?

With no cash left in the bank and an injured Demel as well, what should I do with Wilson?:

    C) Downgrade Cazorla/Hangeland to upgrade Wilson

I wouldn't go anywhere near your team mate. Easily the worst attacking side in the league at the minute.

It's funny though that people are jumping on Stoke attackers...and they are equally starved of creativity.

Sess probably needed to be dropped as he's been off the boil. Cattermole back in for Stoke was a good idea imo. I agree Sunderland defence is where it's at. Still I think I'll be holding onto Fletch for one more week. Captaining would probably be a step too far...but I'm not sure who else is a banker.

Anyone remember when Jermain Defoe scored five goals in the second half when Spurs beat Wigan at White Hart Lane couple years back?

50 points as captain that day, has to be done again next week!

YES! I had Defoe(c) and Lennon who provided most of the assists... marvelous. Was in a ML with Totty supporting mate who said he cringed at every goal 🙂

This makes no sense at all??? Mbia out means QPR will be less solid defensively? If you mean he is more likely to start now that's just plain wrong he was always first def on the teamsheet imo but if you don't think this way then Ferdinand, hill and onouha are still ahead of him.

    Couple questions lads,

Any news on how long berb will be out?

Have Begovic and Friedel If I downgrade Friedel to McCarthy I have enough to bring in Mata for Nolan or Pienaar. Which one should I should I do?

    Team Currently

    Friedel/Begovic
    Cuellar Gallas Hangeland Nelsen Mccartney
    Cazorla Bale Nolan Pienaar Sterling
    Rvp Tevez Berba

    Guys need some advice.

    Wilson > Wisdom or Cameron

Normally would go cameron, but im only playing bego for the next 7 weeks since Reading concede a f load (I have McCarthy).

Would you go Wisdom not to double up on stoke, considering i have Gorkss and Nelsen as subs.

My only concern is whether wisdom is nailed or not.

Go to buy a pair of shoes, it costs $97. So I borrow $50 from my mum and $50 from my dad. After I brought the shoes, I have $3 change so I give $1 dollar to my mum and another $1 to my dad, leaving me with $1. I now owe my parents $49 each, so 49 + 49 = 98, plus the $1 change that I have = 99, where did the one hundredth dollar go?

You added the 1 instead of subtracting. You didn't have anything to start with, 49+49-1=97

The issue is that you added 1 at the bottom, rather than subtracting. Your debt was indeed 98 dollars (49 to each parent) at that point, though as you kept one dollar yourself your debt would be 1 dollar less if you were to factor that in. 98-1 equals 97, that being the exact price for the runners.

He's been played OOP mostly and seems to lack confidence (as does the whole side ) etc etc etc. But yes I think he's a great player and needs a string of games and I'm thinking the manager maybe coming round to this. potentially yes I think just as prolific as Lamb.

Talking about this season. We all (me included) dropped Bale after a 2, 2, 1 and missed out. I'm going to have more patience with my big hitters this year rather than point chase. I'm keeping Hazard too as I think he will outscore Mata by the end of the season

    Wanting to sell:

1 x Arsenal defender who has answered to the call of inevitability. Bargain price but expect no future returns. Purchased almost brand new and has done next to nothing for me since ownership. Shipping includes goals.
