A less than impressive City scramble past Swansea thanks to a moment of inspiration from Carlos Tevez in the longest game in Premier League history. For many of us watching, it felt like it, too:

Going Up

Carlos Tevez
Having failed to score in the last four Gameweeks, the Argentine has been deserted by plenty Fantasy managers after impressing in the first few matches. Shifted to a deeper role at half-time, with Mario Balotelli coming on to lead the line, Tevez’s fine strike from distance was enough to secure the points for a disjointed home side.

City Defensive Resolve
The 1-0 win earned a second successive home clean sheet for Roberto Mancini’s men. They have now conceded just once in the last three but their injury problems at right-back look like continuing – Micah Richards seems to have sustained a knee injury and could be set to join Pablo Zabaleta and Maicon on the sidelines; Kolo Toure may earn a rare spell in the first XI as a result.

Going Down

Michel Vorm
The Dutchman has been such a key figure for Swansea since joining prior to the start of last season but, having injured his groin while attempting to save Tevez’s strike, he may well be unavailable for Michael Laudrup’s side. Gerhard Tremmel – priced at 4.0 in FPL – looks the man to benefit.

Joleon Lescott
Granted, the centre-half had been dropped for two league games prior to this evening but both had been on the road. Lescott had played every minute at the Etihad, with Mancini seemingly keen on him alongside Vincent Kompany at home but the former Everton man clearly has a real rival in Matija Nastasic. Lescott was handed a seven minute sub appearance deep into the 12 minutes of time added on, handing his Fantasy owners a one point return.

Nathan Dyer
The winger was benched for the second game running, with Pablo Hernandez again preferred on the right. Dyer had previously started six of Swansea’s first seven but the Spaniard seems to now be slotting into Michael Laudrup’s system at his expense – a big worry for Dyer’s 18% FPL owners.

Scott Sinclair
The showdown with his former club looked tailor-made for Sinclair to make his first start since Gameweek 4 but he once again warmed the bench, with Mancini clearly far from convinced by his abilities. This time last term both he and Dyer were nailed-on under Brendan Rodgers for the Swans – now both look peripheral figures under their new managers.

Think I might move Gibbs out even if he does make a return. Man Utd will more than likely knock a few past Aresnal and if I downgrade Gibbs I will be able to afford Flecther to Ba. Actually are many considering Crouch?

So Gibbs out - Cameron/Simpson - Have Riise so that's my Fulham coverage.

Yeah it was always temporary for me getting rid of Carlos. I've found a bit of ruthlessness in when to sell and bring back players is key. I'm not scared of losing some sell on value in doing so.

Dont bother then ...he is far too high to bring back imo. It would take a 8pt hit for me, and I think my team is starting to shape up nicely without him. When he starts netting 2, 2, 1, 3, 2, 3 etc week in week out then it might be just worth that 8pt hit and having an average mid, but I got rid of him for a reason and dont mind him grabbing the odd assist or goal here or there, as long as he's not doing the aforementioned just yet.

How's your captain picks going without him though? Mine have been quite average, however the spread of cash has helped me get returns from many players and usually green arrows. Without some captain consistency though I won't get up to where I'm accustomed to being.
        Perhaps Rooney is the solution?

One day he puts toTevez and aguero, and then another day he lines up to Dzeko and Balotelli, etc..

Tevez is great but rotation is keeping me away from him. And now City are out of europe that rotation risk will increase imo.

Hey Isacki, that's bold given our defence down the flanks. Just got this uncomfortable image of bale having some Tshirt with a message about his new baby and doing that stupid cradle celebration, at his old club too..... It all points to Bale points I'm sad to say.

Sorry I must have given out misleading signals, I'm a Gooner but I have a soft spot for Newcastle!

China Mag or greenwindmill are some of the best to ask but I rate the order as

        Coloccini > Saylor > Simpson > Santon

Reason being that Santon offers little attack as he's on the more defensive left side. Simpson apparently is leaving soon and is not so big in the plans. Should still be a handy RB. Saylor has some goal threat but may be rotated a little with Europa and Williamson. Coloccini will play every game available and is a bonus candidate for blocks etc. Plus some threat at set pieces in the box.

Never picked you as a gooner, it's those long poetic paragraphs about HBA that made me think you were a Newcastle fan, and your grav looks like he's wearing a black and white scarf 🙂 I was thinking Colo as Pardew recently likened him to Bobby Moore, but Saylor seems to have more goal threat but I'm just concerned about game time.

I'm having a nightmare and afraid I need assistance as I'm losing rationality!

So I was "Twat Exhibit A" by putting in Wilson before discovering he broke his ankle. So I'm already 8pts down on subs as I've had to change him out again.

Problem is this - I was already going to take out Podolski, despite their ok fixtures, but now Jenkinson looks like the priority.

Option A - Podolski out, Ba in
Option B - Jenkinson out, DEF in (to value of $5.6m)

Any advice bearing in mind it will cost me 4 more points for the sub?

    Thanks in advance!

Gameweek has started well for me finally, with Tevez brought back and captained. Very happy with an 18 pt return (assuming he gets his obvious 3pt bonus) from the good looking fella, and the 3pts we got, albeit not convincingly once again!!

12 shiny, green upward arrows looks great. 29pts with Saylor, Rafael, Baines, Vertonghen, HBA and Bale still to play.

    Options are abundant i'd say..........

RVP home to Arsenal could be nightmare for us without him.
Bale home to Wigan....was only a couple years back wigan were on the end of a, what, 9-1/9-0 thrashing there????
Berbatov home to Everton (dont get too many cs')
Fletcher home to a ridiculously average Villa!
Liverpool home to Newcastle....could be 3-3......Suarez.....Ba...HBA(on road)

Im going Bale as of right now, but much will depend on todays Spurs match. Hell, Vertonghen could be a massive gamble.

    Bale for me.

      Crouch against Norwich.

The best part is that after gw10 i won't get a headache with the armband stuff since RVP will be my captain for 6 weeks 😛

You would really captain a Stoke forward away, even at Norwich? Do you not have any of Bale, Hazard, Mata, Cazorla, Tevez, Aguero, Ba, Suarez, Berbatov, Fletcher, Jelavic, Silva, Rooney? 🙂

Rvp home v Arsenal and you captain Crouch?

I have Hazard, Ba and obviously Rvp.

Norwich is a weak team and I believe Crouch will score at least 2. Arsenal's defence looks solid and i'm not sure if Robin would score against his old team.

Oh.. and I have cazorla, I captained twice and look what happened. 8 points in 2 gws 🙂

I am shifting Caz out this week, but waiting til later in the week. Not sure who to bring in, since I would like to upgrade Berba or Fletch but dont want to lose him for Villa, so i suppose just Berba upgrade.

I wanted to ditch Michu, but since he's basically playing as a striker i will keep him in my team.

Totally agree Gaz, until that starts to happen England won't win a major trophy. What I don't get is whether you're paid $50k a week or $100k a week surely you can't spend it, so why not actually play and have a career you can look back on with pride?

For me Wayne Bridge is a classic example, was amazing for us then went to chelsea and city and didn't play for 10 seasons and now is playing in the twilight of his career for Brighton..... Surely he has to have regret even if he has it sat in one of his 15 houses?

As much as I agree with you, we have to also realise that the life of a professional athlete is not a long one. There are only a handful of Maldinis, Del Pieros, Giggs' and Scholes' out there. The average footballer is not a brainaic, their job/career is to kick a ball, and most have families to feed, and a future to think about.

One injury and you have gone from the academy, to a professional contract, to retirement in the space of a few short years. They have to make money.

seeing as I appear to be stuck here, may I ask for some DZ help?

2FT and 0.5m in the bank so need to use an FT or lose it.

    Mig
    Baines, Saylor, Hughes
    Caz, Bale, Pienaar, Nolan
    RvP, Ba, Berba

    Bego, Sterling, Gorkss, Wilson

Wilson can stay on my bench.
If Berba is ruled out, I play Sterling.

    anything else?

I would seriously consider shifting Caz out since I dont fancy him to do much at United, and let's be fair the Caz wagon was a bit premature, especially now he's pushing 10m. That's an awful lot of money for a brand new midfielder who has had a couple of good sparks so far.

Caz to Mata or Hazard for me mate, Chelsea play Swansea (granted away, but you have no Chelsea coverage).

If you want to be brave and use both transfers, and dont mind having to use another to get him back the week after, i'd also do Ba to either Crouch, Fletcher or better yet, Defoe!

Well i'd imagine he will drop at some point this week to 9.3/9.4 (think he's 9.5 now so 9.4), so yea I would regardless. I had Pienaar at 6m I think and I had HBA at 7.2/7.3 and wouldn't hesitate to lose either of them if something goes wrong.

Caz's money can be used valuably elsewhere.

caz to mata imo. or caz to hba and berba to jelly/defoe/tevez
