A less than impressive City scramble past Swansea thanks to a moment of inspiration from Carlos Tevez in the longest game in Premier League history. For many of us watching, it felt like it, too:

Going Up

Carlos Tevez
Having failed to score in the last four Gameweeks, the Argentine has been deserted by plenty Fantasy managers after impressing in the first few matches. Shifted to a deeper role at half-time, with Mario Balotelli coming on to lead the line, Tevez’s fine strike from distance was enough to secure the points for a disjointed home side.

City Defensive Resolve
The 1-0 win earned a second successive home clean sheet for Roberto Mancini’s men. They have now conceded just once in the last three but their injury problems at right-back look like continuing – Micah Richards seems to have sustained a knee injury and could be set to join Pablo Zabaleta and Maicon on the sidelines; Kolo Toure may earn a rare spell in the first XI as a result.

Going Down

Michel Vorm
The Dutchman has been such a key figure for Swansea since joining prior to the start of last season but, having injured his groin while attempting to save Tevez’s strike, he may well be unavailable for Michael Laudrup’s side. Gerhard Tremmel – priced at 4.0 in FPL – looks the man to benefit.

Joleon Lescott
Granted, the centre-half had been dropped for two league games prior to this evening but both had been on the road. Lescott had played every minute at the Etihad, with Mancini seemingly keen on him alongside Vincent Kompany at home but the former Everton man clearly has a real rival in Matija Nastasic. Lescott was handed a seven minute sub appearance deep into the 12 minutes of time added on, handing his Fantasy owners a one point return.

Nathan Dyer
The winger was benched for the second game running, with Pablo Hernandez again preferred on the right. Dyer had previously started six of Swansea’s first seven but the Spaniard seems to now be slotting into Michael Laudrup’s system at his expense – a big worry for Dyer’s 18% FPL owners.

Scott Sinclair
The showdown with his former club looked tailor-made for Sinclair to make his first start since Gameweek 4 but he once again warmed the bench, with Mancini clearly far from convinced by his abilities. This time last term both he and Dyer were nailed-on under Brendan Rodgers for the Swans – now both look peripheral figures under their new managers.

With Sunderland not scoring goals and Bardsley now back, does anyone else fancy Craig Gardner for a cheeky £4.9m as their 5th midfielder?

MON has been gagging to put him back in the middle to add to the goal tally and they have a decent run of games coming up including next week against his old team Villa...

Guthrie > Sterling for free is a no-brainer for me. If Berbatov is out then Sterling steps in. Also leaves 1M+ to upgrade Clyne and Gunter to Wisdom/Hughes/Baird/Cuellar/Cameron over the next couple of weeks.

Alternatively I could bring in Tevez for (-4) but I'd suggest members to compare Berbatov and Tevez if anyone is interested.

    REPOST

    team is as follows:

    foster begovic
    baines cuellar clyne WILSON DEMEL
    sterling bale caz nolan michu
    rvp ba BERBA

i have 1ft and 2.8m in bank. initial plan was one change nolan to mata with 0.0m in the bank. mata will probably rise tonight so i will need to act quick.

what would you do with this team if you was in my position? still do nolan to mata or wait on BERBA,DEMEL,WILSON????

another worry is other injuries popping up and even michu playing midweek and getting booked hence missing weekend match.

    your thoughts???????

I was warned not up get Walters but ignored said advice. Looks like Ethers may take his place. Is Crouch worth a look or should I just stick to Stoke defence and avoid their attack.

Can i just say, this Rooney midfield talk is absolute bollocks. He will play deep if at all only in the games against stronger opposition. Also, he wont keep staying deep. Rooney RVP and Welbs/Chicha will keep interchanging positions in a dynamic formation. No RVP is not the top end of the attack, neither is Rooney. They keep changing positions.
Against the weaker teams, Post GW11, Rooney will play up top. He is a top FPL option. If you are worried, don't be. Get him.

While I think you're coming out a little too certain I broadly agree. The motivation for Rooney to come deep is to help out with the numbers in midfield hence the increased need against stronger teams. There is a lot of fluidity in his position and he usually drops back to the halfway line to get the ball, distributes and moves back up. I do think his average position will be comfortably behind RVP over the season though because he will be doing this so much more and he has a strong trend of supplying RVP already.
