The midweek Capital One Cup ties lit up our week like a firework. Although some teams fielded second string potential over their star talent, Fantasy football’s movers and shakers were still smashing the goals in. Luis Suarez, Gareth Bale, Eden Hazard and a certain Theo Walcott were all in bloom. The question now is whether the midweek goal avalanche will spill over into our weekend’s Premier League action, or will they all get a “touch of the Sunderland’s”?

As always, our “Flutter” selections demand goals from some of our Scout Picks starlets, so let’s see how kind Paddy have been with the markets we threw their way…

Gareth Bale is yet to “explode” as a Fantasy asset and yet he has still managed three goals and three assists. Opponents are perhaps all too familiar with his by-line dashes and weaving runs into the centre and often double up in an attempt to neutralise the Welshman’s galloping runs. The new dad looks to have taken his game to another level of late, though, dominating much of the midweek tie at Norwich – Spurs’ eventual defeat will leave a bitter taste and with a tired Wigan outfit turning up at the Lane, Bale looks good for returns. We’re going to bite Paddy’s hand off for 4/1 on a Bale goal and a Spurs cleanie in this one, so £6 of our tenner is spent.

Whilst Reading suffered embarrassment to Arsene Wenger’s resurgent youngsters, QPR put their feet up and counted the goals flying in with a wry smile. The R’s now play host to the battered Royals on Sunday, hoping the visit of Brian McDermott’s beleaguered outfit hands them the perfect chance to notch a first league win. Adel Taarabt is backed in the Picks this week and Paddy have the Moroccan to score with a QPR clean-sheet at 11/2. Although at first glance this seems a little skinny, fatigue may well put pounds in our pockets as we place £2 of our tenner on this.

West Brom’s James Morrison finds himself right up there with some of the Fantasy heavyweights this term as he revels in his new attacking role behind the lone striker. The Baggies have collected four clean-sheets, whilst Morrison has profited from three assists and two goals thus far. Scout Pick Morrison is 7/1 to score and help make a fifth clean-sheet on Monday against Southampton, and with stats on our side we’re willing to risk a couple of quid on the longer odd.

Register and Bet £10 And Get £20 Free

If you’re new to Paddy Power, then you can take up any of these odds and get yourself a bonus. You can sign up via this site and get a free £20 when you register an account and bet a tenner.

Finally of course, we should state that all these offers are only available to those aged 18 and over and are subject to Paddy Power’s terms and conditions. Also, if you’re going to bet, always gamble responsibly.

    WC team done.

Not spectacular but I only had £100.3m to spend so I couldn't stock my team with big hitters like the rest of you lot. My team represents what I think is the best I could get with the money available to me (before you start criticizing):

    Begovic, Ruddy
    Cameron, Baines, Nelsen, Bardsley, Davies
    Mata, Bale, Michu, Morrison, Taarabt
    RVP, Crouch, Fletcher

    £0.4m in bank.

Benching Ruddy, Taarabt, Cameron, Davies this GW, in that order.

And yes, I have no Newcastle or Man City cover!

I doubt Mata will play so I'm confident Tarbs will come off my bench.

Swansea have a few decent home games. I wouldn't touch a Southampton defender and Reading are almost as bad.

        No.

I had Berbs but the fixtures look horrible for Fulham coming up, Sunderland are coming up to some nice games and a DGW. Sunderland will score goals with the games they have coming up and Fletcher basically is the only one likely to score them. He's likely to get max bp too. Fulham spread goals around the team.

No worries, just took Morrison and Fletch out for Ba and Sterling. Michu 1st sub. Happy with that now and feel better having Ba in there, even if he misses this week I have enough on the bench to cover.

            Thanks lads. Much appreciated.

So team for this GW now is:

            Begovic
            Nelsen, Baines, Bardsley
            Mata, Taarabt, Sterling, Bale
            RV (c), Ba, Crouch

            Ruddy, Michu, Cameron, Gorkss.

I am now handing the laptop over to my 5 yr old son so he can play his Ben 10 games.

I think he'll either start or not play at all. All the Chelsea forums I read last night suggest he needs a rest and that RDM won't play him at all.

With CL game in midweek I think that is most likely what will happen. I'm starting him but genuinely not expecting him to play so Taarabt is my first sub.

Hi Evs, doing well again I see.

RVP with Bale vc, although I wouldn't be surprised if they got the same points so that all the worrying was for nothing!

Better, but team a little in shatters.... Note defence.

I need some surgery. 2 FT next week.

I've been on bale, until last 5mins now Rvp. I just think Wigan is a more appealing fixuture?

Cheers for the advice, next week I'll (c) Guthrie instead of RVP

Tevez may be away, but he's playing in a better team against poorer opposition. He's also a better player

Well you are correct on all counts but teams do tend to play better at home and i think points potential is similar between these two.

This is my wildcard team. Because of Mata's injury i have swapped him for James Morrison, and thought i can just get him back in when he is back. Is this too risky? Should i just keep Mata in and hope that he plays. Thoughts appreciated.

Pretty sure Mata won't play this week and Morrison got a great fixture so I would stick with that. Although I'd go Fellaini over Pienaar personally.

    Need advice please as stuck!

Was decided on the below WC team. Had the option of bringing in Berba for Defoe next week which will give me the funds to get Mata back in for Valencia.
But then I looked at the top teams in my mini league and they all have Ba. Then I looked at Ba's next few fixtures and realised I really need to be able to get him in if possible next week! I'm 0.4 short so the only option I can really see is putting Evans in for Rafael now. Really wanted Rafael though as of well he's playing and his attacking threat. What do people reckon?

    Begovic Tremmel

    Baines McCartney Rafael Cuellar Nelson

    Bale Morrison Michu Sterling Valencia

    RVP Defoe Tevez

I reckon you can cope without Ba, i can see that everyone wants him but RVP, Tevez and Defoe are going to get you goals.

Rafael will score attacking points, Evans wont and Man Utd will most likely concede so id stick with what you have got. Good team.

Take a look at my post above please

But Ba's fixtures are just too good. And Evans got me quite a few attacking points last season. Also know that SAF likes to play Smalling right back and he's coming back now. Hmmmmmm.

Benching Huth is madness. His physical presence can bother Norwich, and Stoke likely to keep a CS.

Up to you but I've been looking at Santi closely. His returns have tended to come from away fixtures and tricky ones at that.

His best PPIs of the season came against Liverpool away and Man City away. Both games where he wasn't marked as heavily (as you would expect at United today too).

Cazorla is the type of player who can be important in these tight, important fixtures for Arsenal. Fancy him to get returns of some sort today.

I did last night, but i must stress that does not make it a wise move 🙂 My gut feeling is Santi will do bad over the next 4 weeks and price drop,While Valencia has the potential to rip it up and be a big differential. I've got my fingers crossed.
