Sunderland’s surprise first half strike scuppered our ambitions of snatching some cash from Paddy last week. Marouane Fellaini delivered on his side of the bargain with yet another goal but the Toffees backline couldn’t keep the Black Cats at bay. That means Paddy have now collected back the early season winnings and it’s now a levelled up with all to play for. This week’s “Fantasy Flutter” just got serious…
At times like these, it’s comforting to turn to a player who has delivered for us in the past. Kevin Nolan has twice helped us get one over on Paddy and, with that in mind, our bookmaker friends must present the latest flutter odds with some trepidation. Nolan has a fine home record with four goals at Upton Park this season and with Stoke always likely to struggle to breakdown a resolute Hammers defence, we’re liking Paddy’s odds of 9/2 on a Nolan goal with a West Ham shut-out. That’s our strong suit this week, with a £4 stake laid down.
Dimitar Berbatov is another player we’ve backed in the past and, with the Bulgarian in sublime form and the Fulham defence with three home clean sheets to their name, this looks another tempting combination. Sunderland denied us last weekend so we can only hope that Martin Jol’s men can keep them boxed up and allow Berbatov to weave his brilliance at the sharp end. Paddy are dangling 7/2 for a Berbatov strike and a Fulham clean sheet and we’ll take that for another £3.
That leaves just a few quid to play with and two markets to go. Our penultimate player, Adel Taarabt, actually missed out on Scout Pick selection this week with the committee turning to Djibril Cisse up front as cover for QPR’s attacking potential against the porous Southampton backline. Nonetheless, the Morroccan is a ticking timebomb of a Fantasy asset, with bags of flair and threat which might just prove too much for Nigel Adkins’ hapless rearguard. Paddy are offering 6/1 on a Taarabt goal with an R’s clean sheet and, while we see Southampton posing a few questions, we’ll still spare a cheeky quid on this one.
We spend our final £2 on the usual treble – and this week it’s got a distinct Man City flavour. David Silva is back orchestrating affairs for Roberto Mancini’s men and we like his chances of picking up an assist against Villa this weekend. We’re also backing the City backline to come good and deliver a clean sheet after conceding just two in their last five outings. The form of Liverpool’s Luis Suarez wraps this one up as we take Paddy’s 7/1 odds on a City cleanie, a Silva assist and a Suarez strike against Wigan.
